We had never been there before and we had a gift certificate for dining there. The food was excellent and service excellent. The restaurant is small but I understand opens up to a veranda in the summer and evening dining is very nice. All in all a very fine experience.
My husband and I were very impressed with the food and service! The hostess was extremely considerate. Our server was attentive but not pushy or "in our face." The kitchen was kind to individually plate our shared salad. Our food was delicious! Highly recommended.
Wonderful place to take my son for a special celebration. Service was terrific and the food was delicious.
The food was delicious. The meals were creative and original. The staff was kind, friendly and helpful.
This was our second dining experience here, the 1st blew us away so we thought we would go for their Valentines Day special menu. Service started off slow, but given it was busy we let it go. Food taste was excellent, but don't go there hungry....portions were VERY small. For the most part the seating doesn't allow for a quiet romantic conversation, your table is literally less than 12" inches from the next table...texting back and forth may work best if you want to discuss something personal. Of course we will go again but not for any special occasion!
I was truly impressed with the food, which seems to me to have leaped up to a new height of deliciousness. And the service matched that excellence.
The soup and fried egg plant were blend. The steak and swordfish were amazing!
The service, from reservation to seating & throughout the meal, was exceptional. McKenzie was the perfect waitperson, intelligent, thoughtful, prompt & witty. The food was deemed very god by all (I had the kale salad, and it was the best Kale Caesar salad ever. (The lemon in the dressing was perfect, the white anchovies are always the best.). All agreed that 30 Boltwood is the perfect venue for our monthly gatherings. We are the ROMEOs, and we approve this review!
Casual and elegant decor; very friendly and helpful staff; loved our hummus app platter and our rose wine; delicious lamb chops and special salad with tuna was quite good; my sister's vegetarian dish was only OK
This was our third (fourth?) time at the Lord Jeff. We almost went somewhere else because on past visits, the food has been mediocre. Great ambiance, nice service, mediocre food. But it was a Tuesday night when a lot of other restaurants were closed, so we decided to give it another try. Well voila! The food was much, much better this time! I would definitely go back, and understand that there is a new chef, which must be the reason for the improvement. Nice!
We had an exceptional New Years Eve diner with wine parings for each course. One of the best I have had anywhere.
As always, impeccable service and attention to detail and, of course, fabulous food. The New Years Eve menu was very creative and delicious, and the wine pairings were truly excellent! Thanks again for a real good time, and thank you Madison for your considerate wait service!
We appreciate the quiet ambiance. Food is good but we would appreciate more vegetarian options.
Atmosphere is very nice. Bar is nicely designed and perfect for a cocktail and conversation. Menu is very limited one fish, one beef, and one chicken. Don’t like the choice and you’re pushed into a totally different type of meal. The cost is on the higher side, which would be fine but not when you feel like you “settled” on a meal you really didn’t want.
Creative, delicious food that is always plated in a beautiful manner. Hosts and wait staff are friendly and accommodating. Stop by if you are in the Amherst area. You will not be disappointed!
All four, different, entres were wonderfully prepared, well presented and delicious. Cameron, our waitperson, was anxious to please and knew his menu offerings. Our wine selection, an upscale chard was particularly good. We look forward to returning. The lighted tree on the Amherst Common was a great surprise as well!
We had brunch-it was good, the cocktails were delicious. It took forever to get our meals.
Good food. Limited selection. Good service except for the wait for the check
We came in for breakfast on Thanksgiving before hitting the road for our destination. Overall, the food and service were very good. What my wife and I didn't care for was the coffee. The Esselon coffee was an Ethiopian blend that had, for us anyway, a very unusual taste.
The Boltwood is a great looking place with really interesting, extrememely well-prepared food. Prices are good too.
Cozy atmosphere, delicious food, impeccable service
The food was very good, nice presentation. Beyond the food, the service was fantastic! Our server found out we were celebrating our anniversary so he treated us to a wonderful dessert. Overall great experience!
Excellent experience at The Jeff on Friday, November 17. Victoria, our server, was the best, and the food very good. One of my favorite things about dining at The Jeff is that the atmosphere is always quiet and peaceful (in marked contrast to so many other restaurants). It was possible to have an easy conversation, with virtually no background noise to contend with.
Overall quite good. The wait staff needs better training. Sadly, at times, they act as if they are part of the party. Good service without too much engagement in personal conversation is what guests are seeking - we don't want to know that you are writing a novel.
All dishes were competently done excepting the vegetarian cassoulet which was too salty.
Slow service and cold food.
Second Business dinner, and the entree’s were disappointing. Same as week before.
The pre-dinner martini was good as was our main course. The starters were very average and the service was likewise - it was not the fine dining experience we had signed up for
Cheese and charcuterie board was delicious and Cameron at the bar mixes amazing cocktails.
6 of us went for brunch. The food was advertised as farm to table but most of our food was not. The food was flat with taste and not savory. The atmosphere and servers were nice and responsive, but that was not enough to offset the high price for bland food.
Lovely restaurant, good service but unfortunately the food was just average.
We had dinner and breakfast there. Everything was good, but the oatmeal at breakfast was the best I've ever tasted--and the waitress says she hears that a lot.
Good food, not too expensive, great service; worth a drive
Great food but the menu had few choices and small portions. Love the ambiance....Perfect for special occasions or date night.
We dine out a fair a.ount and so when we want our date night to be special we think of 30 Boltwood. It is relaxing, classy and the food is always top notch.
I was very excited to dine here for a special occasion. The atmosphere is upscale traditional. Overall, it was a very nice evening. The restaurant fell short in two areas. The menu offering was seven dinner entrees. At 7:30 pm, they only had 5 entrees available. This is a big disappointment and a major shortcoming for an upscale restaurant with a limited menu. Secondly, the staff seemed harried and could have been more engaged and welcoming. Since service is a big part of fine dining, it would have been nice to have had the staff put a bit more effort toward making the evening more enjoyable. Despite these two issues, we enjoyed our time together at 30 Boltwood.
The brunch menu was very nice with new food options that we really enjoyed. The waiters were very attentive. Overall we had a great time and will go back.
The waitstaff was very polite, helpful, and low key. Our meals were excellent, arrived in a very reasonable time, and the food was nicely presented and delicious. We have no complaints, and would definitely dine at the 30 Boltwood again.
medium sized portions and great salads
nice outdoor dining woth quiet music playing
Fabulous dinner, quiet Sunday night in Amherst so it was not busy. Waiter Xander was outstanding! Food was well prepared and delicious! Incredible wine list!! Can't wait to go back!!
