Excellent experience at The Jeff on Friday, November 17. Victoria, our server, was the best, and the food very good. One of my favorite things about dining at The Jeff is that the atmosphere is always quiet and peaceful (in marked contrast to so many other restaurants). It was possible to have an easy conversation, with virtually no background noise to contend with.

Overall quite good. The wait staff needs better training. Sadly, at times, they act as if they are part of the party. Good service without too much engagement in personal conversation is what guests are seeking - we don't want to know that you are writing a novel.

All dishes were competently done excepting the vegetarian cassoulet which was too salty.

The pre-dinner martini was good as was our main course. The starters were very average and the service was likewise - it was not the fine dining experience we had signed up for

6 of us went for brunch. The food was advertised as farm to table but most of our food was not. The food was flat with taste and not savory. The atmosphere and servers were nice and responsive, but that was not enough to offset the high price for bland food.

We had dinner and breakfast there. Everything was good, but the oatmeal at breakfast was the best I've ever tasted--and the waitress says she hears that a lot.

I was very excited to dine here for a special occasion. The atmosphere is upscale traditional. Overall, it was a very nice evening. The restaurant fell short in two areas. The menu offering was seven dinner entrees. At 7:30 pm, they only had 5 entrees available. This is a big disappointment and a major shortcoming for an upscale restaurant with a limited menu. Secondly, the staff seemed harried and could have been more engaged and welcoming. Since service is a big part of fine dining, it would have been nice to have had the staff put a bit more effort toward making the evening more enjoyable. Despite these two issues, we enjoyed our time together at 30 Boltwood.

We enjoyed the limited, but very acceptable, Entre selection. The presentation was very nice and the drinks well crafted. If you want the pace of the meal to be slowed, be sure and be very specific with the waitstaff. We look forward to returning again in the future.

30 Boltwood seems to have changed. I've eaten here many, many times, but this was quite different. First, there was a very nice saxophone/guitar duo, but when the sax played, we could not hear each other. I don't think that it was because we were close (even though I asked for a quiet table). Given the size of 30 Boltwood, I think it would be just as loud throughout. It's just too small a place for a loud saxophone. I love to have music when I dine, but it can't overshadow attempts at conversation. The food was good, but the amounts were not very generous. Three of us ordered gnocchi. They were quite tasty, but it was more the size of an appetizer than a $25 entree. 30 Boltwood was one of my go-to restaurants for entertaining guests. I'll probably try once more to see if it was an off-night, or if it has changed that much.

This is a lovely and elegant setting and the staff were very friendly. We were disappointed that the menu was very limited in choices, given that some of those choices were very run-of-the-mill and uninspiring eg. Caesar salad, charcuterie platter . The soup was very good, as was the salmon, but the clams and gnocchi were both disappointing and unmemorable. I exepected more from a restaurant of this caliber and pricepoint, but would try it again.

The chef salad came without dressing. We requested dressing and what was brought was a very small amount. A second request for dressing brought another small amount. When a third request was made for dressing, we were told that this would be the last request permissible for dressing. Some of the llettuce was brown and the salad in general was bland. My wife's smoked salmon omelette was very tasty, but surprisingly small.

We have dined here many times, mostly while the prior executive chef was in residence. I'm pleased to be able to say that the new executive chef, (Kevin Doubleday) has carried on the creative tradition and outstanding choices of local ingredients of the previous chef, and am happy to continue to recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a very tasty meal, at a reasonable price, served by happy and attentive staff. Always and still a pleasure!

30 Boltwood is reliably good; I mean really good, the kind of good that leaves you savoring flavors and pausing to wonder how they did that. I find myself looking up ingredients and taking pictures of the plating. My husband and I are regulars, or as regular as we can afford to be. We go for date nights and special occasions. It is expensive, but it is one of the few local restaurants in this price range where you get what you pay for. The menu shifts regularly. The drinks are strong. Everything is tuned to the season and local ingredients. After this year's extended winter, a recent drink menu was titled, "Spring?" The waitstaff are friendly and very attentive with a slight vibe that they might be writing a manifesto on the ills of the service economy in their spare time. It is a favorite place for departments to bring faculty they want to court to dinner. It is a great place to go if you want to be able to hear the people you are with and savor conversation along with the food.

We went there last year to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with family. We had such a good time that my husband and I returned for the Mother's Day brunch. We had a lovely time, food was excellent and our waitress Emily was so thoughtful and very talented server. The only food I missed was last year there was lobster on the appetizer table.

We booked a mother's day brunch reservation for our family while visiting Umass Amherst during our sons graduation. We mistakingly booked our reservation for 9:30 am (regular breakfast) and later learned that brunch began at 10:30. Needless to say, they were fully booked. Jeremey, the manager, handled our mistake with exceptional professionalism. He called us Saturday late afternoon (the day before) and found a way to fit us in.
The Lord Jeffrey and 30 Boltwood are a class act. We enjoy dining and often consult trip advisor while seeking the best establishments nationally and internationally - 30 Boltwood did not dissapoint. The menu exhibited a fun fusion of master cullinery choices.
The setting is upscale rustic with access to seasonal outside dining. Our waitress was incredible, finally a professional!
Thank you Jeremy- for going the extra mile to make us feel special on your busiest weekend of the year. You helped make Mothers Day a wonderful memory.

I brought my wife, mom, mother in law, and 14 year old son here for Mother's Day. We enjoyed breakfast, not the special Mothers Day brunch, and our server was terrific and attentive. Our ONLY complaint was that the portion size was quite small, and specifically the side of potatoes. Would be better if the plate didn't have a lot of open space left on it...either add more of the side (in this case potatoes) or throw a few grapes and cantaloupe.
Other than that, price was fine, the food tasty, service was great, and the ambiance is really nice.
