2nd Ave Grill Ratings and Reviews
I attended a live music event every year for the past 8 years at the 2nd Ave Grill, and literally every year we are all given the best service as well as excellent food.
The atmosphere in their Atrium makes you feel like you're dining outdoors (without the insects or possible inclement weather).
The food was ok. A bit greasy for my liking. The dining area is too close to the lounge and we spent our date night listening to several men have an incredibly sexist conversation the entire time. Needless to say it was less than romantic.
Only one server at Saturday night...
Food is fresh and well plated but not tasted as good as expected, everything is very salty and the salmon was weirdly too sweet, but the price is fair for that.
The restaurant is well decorated and artistic though.
May come back for a quick lunch because the salad looks good and we didn't try.
Tried 2nd Ave Grill out for the first time, and it was unreal. The prices are mid-high end, so I would save this place for a special occasion. In saying that the food was unreal, and they have a great variety. Everything from salmon, lobster, and steak, to pizza and pasta. Really was impressed. They also offered great service.
We had a great evening .....good friends, good food and wine, attentive pleasant server and hostess. One small downside was that it was a little cool where we were seated(very cold outside). A bonus to starting evening well was the easy underground parking..we will be back!
It isn't really a family restaurant and not kid friendly. No high hair or even a booster seat for my granddaughter I was taking care of. The bathroom didn't even have a place for me to lay her to change her diaper - I had to lay her on the floor which isn't acceptable.
The table for our special lunch gathering was ready on arrival - and set-up in a separate area for groups (ours was 12). The service attendants were not only friendly but also welcoming. Our order was precise...our guests said the food was 'very good' to 'delicious'. The favourite order was the jambalaya--it is rich, hearty, and 'spicy' yet the flavours are very well balanced; overall, this dish received the best reviews. The only negative is the area for group gatherings has no standard ceiling height so it is difficult to converse across the table with 12 guests - but that isn't anyone's fault, it is simply the way the building is designed. Note: Our gathering was a Christmas / Holiday lunch celebration - it was nice to see the restaurant tastefully decorated for the season.
In the past, the service and food were pretty good. This time around the service was lacking. While they were busy, they should be able to handle it. My order was missed completely and every single drink was on the wrong receipt which mattered because they were all different prices.
My husband and I went for our anniversary. The service was fast, atmosphere romantic. The music was upbeat but not too loud so it stayed in the background so I appreciated that. My Caesar salad was the best I ever had. The Brie and apple stuffed chicken with pecans was divine. Unfortunately the steak was well done when hubby asked for medium well. It seems they precook the steak and keep it hot in water but at least it was tender. Next time I think it would help to order steak less cooked than we want so that it comes how we want it, but this is a universal experience for us. Soft lighting. Overall pretty good experience but I wish hubby would have had a better experience. His soup was excellent- mushroom chicken. I hope we try this restaurant again. So tasty
Had the steak and it was good but that was the only part of the meal that was, felt short changed on veggies with no flavour, roasted potatoes were just that plain. My date had the same but with mashed potatoes, just plain to. Caesar salad with bottle dressing not what I expected from the 2nd Ave. Grill, that's not what people told me about it. Service was great and they pour a good Guinness. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 10.
