Wonderfully different menu! Food perfect!! Beautiful setting.
Enjoyed the restaurant week menu with 6 friends in the lovely dining room. The salmon with spinach and saffron potatoes was delicious, as was the bread. Very good coffee. Nice variety of bread. I had not been here in a very very long time and other than an issue with the waiter and busman clearing the table too early (I was still eating), everything was very nice. Portions of the 3 course $22 menu were sized correctly for that much food.
We don't dine at 2941 often enough, and we were reminded of this fact while taking advantage of the lingering effects of Restaurant Week. In spite of a crowded entry, we were greeted warmly and immediately seated so we could be served by Jean Marc. He quickly greeted us enthusiastically, took our drink orders, and mentioned a couple nice items not on the menu. Our beverages arrived quickly, and our questions answered. One would have thought that choosing from each of the courses would be easy, but each of the selections that Mr. Chemel and his kitchen staff offered proved tempting. We selected very different combinations, but each of the six selections scored 10 for 10. The mushroom veloute proved wonderful and provided me with knowledge of still another of the important 'mother space' In need to mastery. Jean Marc is a star; the several wait staff assisting him also excel. Good work, 2941.
We went to 2941 as one of the new restaurants we wanted to try during the 2018 DC area restaurants' week.
The food and service were excellent. 2941 had a limited options menu but covered our expectations. The quality and presentation of each course were outstanding as well as the service; they were always alert and ready to react to our requests. The wine list is ok.
The location is good, but tricky to find if you go after dark. We ended up parking at the building's garage where the restaurant is located and walked from there.
We will come back!
Went for Restaurant Week, and everything was delicious!!! Also had my wedding here several months ago, and their food and service was equally outstanding.
Having lived in DC for 12 years, I am not one to venture into the burbs unless I absolutely have to. When my friend Helen suggested this restaurant for dinner, I thought "Ugh! Falls Church, VA"! However, I had not seen Helen in a while and I was willing to go wherever she wanted. Plus, they also had extended Restaurant Week.
Helen made a reservation and we were seated right away. Our waitress, Jennifer, greeted us promptly. She was extremely professional and personable. I use to be a waitress, so I have high standards when it comes to service. She did not disappoint. I would venture to say that she was one of the best waitresses I have ever encountered.
Helen and I shared the ceviche and ceasar salad. We both ordered the short rib. The ceviche and ceasar salad were ok. They were tasty without a doubt, but I wouldn't rave about it. However, I would and did rave over the short rib. I savored every bite. I never had better. I'm thinking about it even now as I write this.
When we inquired about dessert wines and ports, Jennifer sent over the sommelier. OMG! He knew so much about wines and ports. I was mesmerized just listening to him talk. Without asking, he even sent a card to the table with the name of the port that we had ordered so that we would not forget it.
I'm still not a fan of VA, but I would come here in a heartbeat any day!
We made this reservation before they extended the DC Restaurant Week. Two people in our party enjoyed the promotion and one the normal a la carte menu. All items were excellent.
Always enjoy 2941, during Restaurant Week or otherwise.
2941 never disappoints. Great ambience, excellent food, and superb service.
much more affordable on Washington restaurant week prices (maintained for the week following)
Great food, wine and service in wonderful surroundings in park-like setting
Great Menu choices & high level of service during a nice restaurant week lunch event!
Four friends visited this restaurant for lunch, during the second week of DC Restaurant Week. 2941 was running a special menu for the two weeks, and although the web site said that no other entrees would be offered, there were, nonetheless, additional offerings. We had the Restaurant Week menu, with wine. The selections were sufficiently varied for both food and wine, the portions sufficient, very well presented, and delicious. The service was thoughtful and attentive, without being hovering. The beautifully-decorated restaurant was not full, but even so, tables are well-spaced so that conversation is easy. Definitely good value for money, but will need to return when 2941 is not offering this special menu in order to confirm.
The service at 2941 was impeccable and the food delicious. We had left a note on our reservation that it was our anniversary and that did not go unnoticed. We had a wonderful time and would go back in a heartbeat. Some of the best service we have had in a long time!
The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The service was on point. The husband and I will be back for Valentine’s Day!
Our server Jennifer was very attentive and helpful in navigating the menu with my gluten free requirements. The sommelier on staff that evening was engaging and helpful too when picking a wine bottle for the evening. Only complaint was the heat was on very high for the outside temperature. That being said, it didn't negatively impact the outing as it more so a nuisance.
Awesome date night place. The food is excellent and the wait staff are very attentive.
All ways enjoy this restaurant but this time was especially good
I went with a friend Saturday night for Restaurant Week. I only live 4 miles away in Arlington, but had never been there before. First, the complimentary valet service is lovely, as is the koi pond in front. The service was impeccable and the courses arrived in the right amount of time in between each course. I had the beet salad, the salmon and the hazelnut cake. All three were amazing! My friend had the parmesan risotto, which was terrific but rich, so she could not finish it. She had the lobster shrimp ceviche which she loved and one of the chocolate desserts. We finished with tea and I raved about my experience on social media. Our waiter told us they were extending Restaurant Week for another week, so I may go and try something new!! Beautiful restaurant, terrific food and outstanding service. I will definitely be back! Kate
As always, 2941 never disappoints. Cuisine is fabulous, service attentive but not invasive, and ambiance and decor is soothing. Don't walk.....RUN to this restaurant.
Main entree was too small portion
Very good atmosphere. The service was great and they played smooth jazz which set the mood just right.
Food was not consistently good. Portion sizes were on the smaller side and they offered a Cesar salad that was tiny, was expecting more for the caliber of this restaurant.
Overall food was good but not excellent, service felt a bit rushed since it was restaurant week and the place was probably crowder than usual
Visited during Restaurant Week and the menu was restricted this time. The short ribs were just okay and quite stringy. The ceviche was mostly jicama--only two small shrimp. We all agreed that the portions were quite small, especially the dessert (the eqivalent of an oreo cookie). The waiter was nice but MIA for the majority of the meal. This is the last visit for us.
Every dish was excellent and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend ordering dessert - the pastry chef is top notch!
The place has a great view of the water (pond), higher ceiling and nice setting. The food is good, better than average. However, the price is increased from last restaurant. One item was included in the restaurant week in 2016 is now required to pay extra. Other than that, the food is better than the average. Nice touch of mushroom soup, although, I preferred a bit thinker. The risotto is good, although smoke mushroom doesn't exactly match the parmesan cheese. They need to work on the desserts, seems it is the weakest link.
This place was really nice! The atmosphere down to the food was exceptional. Highly recommended. The waiter was knowledabe about the menu and gave great suggestions.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed dining at Restaurant 2941! I selected it as part of Restaurant week and we were all amazed at the great food, service, and ambience. I cannot wait to return! Amazing!
Great food at a terrific value for restaurant week. Multiple choices and all our choices were super.
I was here for the Restaurant Week and glad that I made the choice to dine with them. Course menu was great and the portions were generous. Worth the hype everyone talks about regarding this place. Very satisfied.
Gorgeous restaurant, especially during the day when you can see the surroundings outside. Limited choices for Restaurant Week at lunch, but everything was delicious, including the wine. Only complaint is that the restaurant was nearly empty but hostess sat us at the far reaches in the corner. Next time, I will speak up and ask for a better table.
Had Lunch at 1:30pm. Meal was excellent! Surpassed expectations. Caesar Salad was a bit disappointing. Not bad but not great compared to the rest of the meal. The rest of the meal especially the Salmon, was amazing. The table was perfect and quiet for 2 people. Service was excellent. We will return.
2941 is consistently great with impeccable service and delicious food. My husband and I have a standing lunch date there each year for restaurant week. The Mushroom Velouté is heavenly...one of the best soups I've ever had. I love the beautiful scenery that surrounds this hidden gem and the whimsical decor. Lunch diners tend to be more business lunches so if you aren't going for a business lunch, you might consider requesting a quiet table in a corner.
Great restaurant with terrific views of the lake. Food is probably among the best in No. Va.
Went during DC Restaurant Week. Fabulous menu, fabulous value. Love the gourmet dishes here. And the knowledgeable waists with wine recommendations that match. Also love the valet parking. Note, the entrance is hard to find.
This visit wasn't up to the admittedly high standards based on our past visits. We were seated in the back room, which was fine, but seemed to have been forgotten. Our server was certainly fine, but not as engaging as the servers we've had in the past who really made the evenings very nice.
I had the Caesar salad with truffles which was underwhelming. The beef short rib was wonderful, tender and tasteful - very enjoyable .
My wife had the mushroom soup which too was very nice. The Parmesan risotto was not as good as on previous visits and the smoked mushrooms completely overwhelmed the dish. This is the first dish I've had that I would say I really disliked -- everything else I've ever had seemed balanced where this was very unbalanced with the smoke.
It was restaurant week and the house was almost full on a Wednesday night, which may have played a roll in our evening.
In the past I have, frankly, gushed about my visits. This visit was nowhere near as good as our prior visits, not quite "meh" but, in part because of the expectations, heading in that direction.
Food is fine-- good but not great. Salmon tartare appetizer was very good. Had duck Bolognese, which was decent but no major flavor. Tried all of the desserts, nice but not innovative or great.
Phenomenal lunch during restaurant week. Beet salad was delicious, salmon was amazing and the chocolate dessert couldn’t have been better!
I have been to this restaurant in the past and the food has always been good. Met an out of town friend there during restaurant week and the food was very good but felt the service was less personal than it has been in the past.
