29 Sudbury Ratings and Reviews
Like so many suburban restaurants with just-like-the-city ambitions, they nail the food but flub the service. The dining room is regularly understaffed and, when staffed, staffed with too many staff who are confused about how to provide service. To be clear, all the wait staff had a great attitude and genuinely want to help, but either can't or won't or don't know how.
The food was delicious. The music was a little too loud upstairs. It took a while for drinks and courses to arrive but everything was delicious. We ordered the burrata appetizer and lamp chops plus a Mediterranean salad. All fabulous. The entrees were salmon, shrimp scampi, pancetta wrapped cod and bolognesa. All scrumptious. We love this neighborhood restaurant.
My wife and I attended the New Year's Day brunch, which was wonderful. The music provided by Jacques Raymond and Russ Costa was most enjoyable....they were a big part of why we went there that morning. Also the food was excellent and the bloody mary's are the best. Will do this again.
Service was terrible. My husbands steak arrived so rare it was cold in the middle, he sent it back. She did apologize and agreed it was much to rare. She brought it back to the kitchen. My meal was finished by the time his arrived. The waitress never offered is another drink, didn’t send the manager over to talk about the issue with the steak. The final issue came when she brought us the wrong check.
We had eaten there before so we might be willing to give it another chance in the future but for $90 it was an extremely disappointing night.
Had never been and was really pleasantly surprised. Didn’t appear to be much upon walking in but the place filled up quickly and we knew it was going to be good. Our server was impeccable. He came to our table multiple times, answered all our questions and was just great. The food was phenomenal. 2 had the short ribs, 1 salmon and 1 crab pasta. It was truly one if the best meals we had all had. Will def be back!
Sunday brunch was amazing. The portions were surprisingly huge for the price range ($12-$16 for the plates we got). The build your own Bloody Mary was amazing as well. We had the Biscuits and Gravy and the traditional Eggs Benedict. Both meals were mouth-wateringly delightful. We had brunch at 10am and were both full until 5pm. Can't wait to go back.
This was our first visit and we will definitely return. Food and service both terrific. I had the short ribs entree, which melted in my mouth and was delicious. My husband chose the pasta bolognese, which he enjoyed. Portions were generous, and we took home leftovers for lunch the next day. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere nothing special, but comfortable and relaxed. Highly recommended.
Tried this restaurant for the first time based on Open Table recommendation and was very happy with every aspect of the experience. Enjoyed the decor, the seating, service and food. The menu was diverse and exciting, so many things I would like to try that I will have to come back, many times! Highly recommended.
I had not visited this restaurant in quite a while because it was not very impressive in the past . This place has done a complete 180° turn around the service the salads and entrées were fabulous I don't know what to say I'm still stunned it was so good it is now on my regular restaurant route awesome
Food excellent and interesting, service friendly and competent, only gripe is that the physical surround is dreary: dark space, polished concrete floors, putty brown walls, virtually no artwork or decoration. They desperately need a good interior designer. That being said, it won't prevent me from going back--the food was so good. First course, a salad with prosciutto, shaved fennel, marcona almond, sun-dried blueberry and port wine white balsamic dressing. . . .a divine combination of flavors and textures. Entrée was prosciutto-wrapped cod served over Yukon potato hash with tiger shrimp, braised kale, roasted pepper butter and roasted cippolini onion. . . .crusty surround to the fish, very fresh, ample portion. . . .dessert, the lemon tart w/ homemade raspberry sorbet--good, and my sister's chocolate banana tart was scrumptious.
Quality service and quality food. Very pleased with all aspects of the restaurant. We ate at the bar and the bar tenders were attentive to everyone as the restaurant kept getting busier as the night went on. Rest rooms were clean and I would definitely go back there again
This is my third visit to 29 Sudbury. The food is always very good but the atmosphere indoors is just awful. It feels like a glorified pizza place with low ceilings and those office building acoustic tiles. The decor is cheap and not well conceived. I would love to tell my friends and clients to go but the atmosphere is so awful I can't. It's a shame because the food we had was delicious and the other diners' plates also looked good. Hire a decorator!!!
Amazing service and a good menu, really good homemade pizzas and the waiter was very nice and even treated my wife to a dessert for her birthday. Overall I would recommend to anyone.
Not really an issue at all but restaurant is decor isn't my favorite with paneled ceiling but it does have a very nice open kitchen with a large open flame pizza oven and a nice patio and deck.
When 29 Sudbury came to town a few years ago we gave it a few tries but were unimpressed with the uneven food and the often dismal service quality. Recently we decided to give them another chance, and they have really gotten their act together now. The last couple of dinners were very enjoyable. The quality of the food was outstanding, the wine list very interesting, and perhaps most importantly, service was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. Mind you, I think it's still overpriced, but I'm glad we have another great dining option in the area now.
Disappointed... slow service. Over 10 minutes before we saw a waiter or had water poured at table. We also waited for drinks to be brought to table and one of our drink requests was forgotten and we had to order again. Food was average...menu was pedestrian. This is the second time in 6 months that we have been disappointed.
29 Sudbury has never disappointed us. The is very good/outstanding and extremely well presented. All of our dishes met or exceeded expectations. The appetizers were a big hit as were the cocktails. Amanda, our server, was wonderful. Full of information and advice. Living in Hopkinton we often forget about 29 but whenever we do visit we always say we need to come back more often.
