29 South is a chic, neighborhood bistro perfect for dates, a quick bite or a casual dinner with old friends and family.
This eclectic bistro has it all; great ambiance, fantastic food, an extensive wine list. The menu can best be described as extraordinary casual farm to table cuisine, where Chef Scott Schwartz paints a playground for the palette using the freshest ingredients sourced from local fisherman, farms and our own onsite garden.
Three time winner of the "Best of Jacksonville" 29 South was recently awarded a "Snail of Approval" and "Spirit of Slow Food" by Slow Food USA. Florida Trend magazine has awarded 29 South the coveted Golden Spoon every year since 2010.

Awesome service! Wonderful brunch! The 3 of us each ordered a different entree and then shared. Great atmosphere...love sitting outside on the patio! Poinsettia cocktails were also refeshing and paired great with brunch! 🍾🥂💕

It was our anniversary and our table was next to the kitchen. Service was very slow and steak was undercooked. We sent it back and received it back when everyone was almost done with their meal. Pork chop was very average tasting

we went because we saw good reviews. I was very disappointed. Over priced and small portions. We ordered the tomato stack appetizer and scallops appetizer. We expected for the price there would be 5-6 pieces. However, there was only three. $4.25 per scallop is a little bit pricy even if it looked good on the plate. The only thing I might recommend is the deserts. We tried something new and it was not for us. Next year we will probably stick with the restaurants we know.

Nothing “wowed” us about 29 south. Everything was okay, but nothing memorable. The chefs special stake was very underwhelming, and the cheese plate with crumbled blue cheese was not exciting.

Fast and attentive service. We sat outside and although it was quite warm, the atmosphere was great! Brunch drinks were well done and the waitress even refreshed our drinks since it was so warm and ice was melting. The breakfast sandwich was delicious! Will definitely be back!

Hostess was incredibly nice and got us in ahead of reservation. She was a middle aged woman with blonde-gray hair. Probably the most genuine hostess we have ever had. Food was excellent and waiter(Drew) compted our drinks because he went to another table after we had already been there. It was a pretty good waiter but he was fake nice.

Wonderful Mother’s Day buffet. Except we didn’t know it was a buffet-only day (or that they had one at all). Appreciated the call the day before to confirm the reservation, but perhaps would have been a good time to mention it. But overall experience was great.

We’ve been to 29 South and as north Floridians, it has been our go to place on Amelia Island for years. This time, it was clear that things have changed. The service was subpar and our waiter didn’t give us the time of day—he actually didn’t come to the table to check on us and the only time we got service was when we asked for it from another wait staff who went to get him. My shrimp and grits were a huge disappointment—there were sliced onions in the grits and it came with 3 heavy tempura style fried shrimp that were heavily grease laden and also tasteless sautéed shrimp. My sister ordered their polenta without asparagus as a first course—it came out with asparagus and we found another table’s waiter to take it back and get a new one. My daughters steak was not a great cut of meat which really surprised us because in the past their steak special has been one of their bast entrees. The highlight of the meat was the seared scallops appetizer and it was a beautiful plate and a tasty dish! Hope whatever is broken gets fixed!

Excellent food and amazing service. Our server was the best! Very accommodating to all our requests. The Fried chicken is incredible as well as the pork shank. We enjoyed every minute of it.

A true standout and one of our favorite restaurants in Fernandina Beach. The food is always superb and beautifully presented. It feels like you are dining in your best friend's house and we always enjoy eating on the wrap around front porch whenever the weather dictates. The chef always prepares some specials which are well worth considering along with their diverse Southern menu favorites.

Mark was our amazing waiter - 10 ladies at brunch with Poinsetta orders! He was so patient with us making our choices and especially with getting me the BIG spooon for dessert! Great time great foods lots of fun!

Service was extremely extremely slow We ate outside and once the lights came on the bugs also came to feast (on us) which combined with the slow service accounts for about 70 percent of this rating. We’ve previously had great dinners here. The special appetizer (salmon on avocado toast) was tasty and interesting. The shrimp and grits underspiced and heavy, the duck pasta was good as was the beef short rib but not remarkable.

Food was good, and setting in an older home is charming. HOWEVER, the people seated at the table next to us (in an indoor area) where permitted to bring a damp, smelly basset hound into the restaurant on a rainy evening. They were seated after we had ordered appetizers, and the dog laid variously under the table, in the walkway, behind dining chairs during the meal. This seems like an obvious Board of Health violation and was totally unacceptable. Given that my parents suffer from allergies, the presence of a dog in the dining area was greatly disappointing and overshadowed the food and service. Though we've enjoyed dining here in the past, it's unlikely that we would return given an unacceptable policy about pets in the dining room. We cut our evening short, and declined to order dessert to more quickly leave the restaurant.

Interesting and unique menu. Enjoyed the crab cake. The crust of the day was delicious--tomatoes, arugula, mozzarella and pesto drizzle--really enjoyed this. Chestnut Parpadella was good, a bit more sauce would have made it better. Great waiter--Mark

Definitely didn’t live up to the hype. Read lots of good reviews however we just weren’t blown away nor were we impressed with our server. The guy running our food was so much friendlier and attentive than our actual server. Food was good just nothing memorable.

We ate at 29 South Eats for Sunday brunch. I had a sandwich with egg, sausage, and bacon. It was HUGE but just alright as far as taste. I had the potatoes that came with it and also got the cheese grits. They were SO good. We also had mimosas and we all agreed that they were one of the few drinks we’d had all weekend (we were on a girl’s trip) that we felt like actually had alcohol in them. Everywhere else we ate made their drinks super weak. The atmosphere and service were excellent. I think we wouldn’t have been as disappointed in the food had we not heard rave reviews all weekend from other people. It just didn’t live up to our expectations.

We went only for desserts and were aware of the constantly changing dessert menu as new items are continuously brought out for sale. We tried a slice of carrot cake (it was huge) and it was delicious-not overly sweet. We also had a croissant bread pudding with ice cream and that was served warm. It was rich but in a good way. The desserts are priced at $10 each, but are sized for sharing. We were traveling from out of town so probably will not return to try their main dishes but things that were being delivered to tables looked and smelled good.
