This eclectic bistro has it all; great ambiance, fantastic food, an extensive wine list. The menu can best be described as extraordinary casual farm to table cuisine, where Chef Scott Schwartz paints a playground for the palette using the freshest ingredients sourced from local fisherman, farms and our own onsite garden.

Sensational restaurant. I would say "hidden gem" but I suspect it is well known to many. From the tomato soup, the pork chops, shrimp and grits, burgers, and then ..... coffee and donuts. Amazing all around. Rivals the best restaurants I have ever been to. The staff was perfect as well. I can't wait to return.
Southern chicken was disappointing. Chicken itself was crispy and well cooked but under seasoned. Served on top of Mashed potato’s and 5 green beans. Could Have benefited from a nice peppery milk gravy.
Vibe and decor like New Orleans. Quiet. Very good food.
I typically love the honey chicken, but the pieces were quite small and the breading was dry and overwhelming. My companions' shrimp and fish entrees were good..........but not memorable. Did 29 South change chefs from prior years............the desserts......flourless chocolate cake with butter pecan ice cream and the donut/coffee ice cream in the mug............were superb as usual.............but overall, a disappointing experience.
Fine Dining at very reasonable prices. Excellent staff, all knowledgeable and caring.
Love the shrimp and grits! I visit this restaurant once a year when I am in town.
I have been to this restaurant many times and have always been happy. This time the food was not as good.
I had the short ribs and they were over cooked. The potatoes however were under cooked. This was a busy weekend
On the island so I am hoping that it was just a fluke.
One of favorite eateries in Fernandina Beach. Excellent food, attentive service. Limited seating inside so reservations are a must in cool weather.
Wonderful meal! The food was amazing. Our server was wonderful.
Great food. Unusual food combos which added to the positive food experience. Wait staff seemed stretched too thin to be attentive to the customer
Been here many times and they do a great job. Food is always fresh, delicious and the service awesome!! Highly recommend this place.
An Amelia Island classic, consistently good, interesting food using the freshest of ingredients. Service is professional and pleasant. Location is great!
A special night of specials. We loved our starter, the Chefs Daily Market Inspired Crostini followed by a great garden salad with citrus vinaigrette. Our entree special was a brined salmon with fresh vegetable—delicious. Capped with “coffee and doughnuts” bread pudding dessert.
Excellent! Great food and excellent service.
this has been one of our favorite restaurants in Fernandina Beach but this year it was a really poor eating experience. We had children with us who ordered a hamburger and McDonalds would close if ever they served a rubbery hard overcooked burger like this . One son had short ribs that should have been illegal they were also so rubbery as the hamburgers were. The plates did not even pretend to be fine dinning , empty of all niceties and decoration . We really debated asking for a refund which I have never thought of in a restaurant of this caliber . Before they charge others for a meal I hope they wake up and get something right .
Eve was our server, she was friendly and very helpful. Food was excellent.
Outstanding experience in every regard. Our meals, scallops over grits, crab cake, and grilled romaine salad, were all excellent. And our server, Amanda, is one of the nicest and most professional servers we have ever had. I highly recommend 29 South if you are visiting Fernandina Beach.
Went to 29 South for our Valentine dinner and it was awesome.
As always, the staff was pleasant and efficient. The menu changes fairly regularly and ours had lots of fresh (think local) seafood deliciously prepared. The salads were fresh from there own gardens. Beware: servings are huge. Consider sharing.
Prices were very reasonable.
Evening was great and all the food was good except one meal was bad. The fish was really dry. Service was amazing.
I’ve eaten here several times and each time has been great!
Great dinner! Southern inspired food done superbly... The shrimp and grits are among the best I’ve ever had.
Terrible service. Terrible food. Sat by the kitchen and caught a glimpse of the kitchen and it was incredibly dirty. Ordered three appetizers and one was inedible.... the lobster corn dog was undercooked and the raw batter oozed out when cut into. Fried green tomatoes were decent, although overly battered. Once we saw the kitchen, we stopped eating, paid for our appetizers and left. We walked over to Amelia Tavern where we had a great meal. Don’t waste your time and money here!
Amazing!!! We had a crazy party of 12 and our wait staff handled like rock stars. The food was completely beyond on point. Love every moment of our time there!
We are locals and have dined at 29 South on several occasions. This was not a good experience. The chicken dinners were tough, the meat particles had little white meat and the portions small. Sadly, the best part of our meal was the dinner salads. The competitive market is strong on Amelia Island especially for fried chicken dinners so 29 South is going to have to up their game for success.
Fabulous night with exceptional food and service. New ownership is setting the standard high!
Not very positive, menu is not very extensive, room even though not crowded was loud, ambiance leaves a lot to be desired...food was okay, nothing to rave about...was looking forward to it but was disappointed
First time there. Will go back
Excellent service, all of the food was very good, we look forward to checking the upcoming new menu
Food was very good! Great place for a good night out!
Excellent meal. Pan seared scallops and shrimp pappardelle were our two main courses and both were fantastic. It is all about how everything complements each other to create a culinary experience worth writing about.
Reputation as best on Amelia is long since gone. Second chance tonite was a confirmation. Food quality was mediocre.
Will not return. It was a previous favourite.
Having visited the restaurant on several occasions, it is good to enjoy a continued great level of quality food options along with helpful and attentive staff.
Delicious food and friendly service!
charming setting, great service, good food. the fried chicken was especially delicious.
Great ambiance and service but food was average at best. Ran out of some beers early on a Friday night. Tuna was over cooked and bland. Ran out of smashed potatoes so had to settle for fries. Terrible value of an upscale Bistro. We would not recommend.
Fine dinner. Sorry to hear that it may close. Simple crust and fried chicken are great pair
Drab interior. Very slow service. Entree overcooked. Poor seating. Very drafty table location.
Really disappointed. Atmosphere felt much different than previous times. There was an off odor in the restaurant. Lighting was terrible and could hardly see the menu or food. Likely our last time there.
