About 275 Main at Pitcher Inn
"The Pitcher Inn is a jewel of sophisticated dining off a remote rural country road. The menu, which changes almost daily, is replete with brilliantly prepared dishes, from the Nantucket Bay scallops in a saffron broth with crimini mushrooms, pancetta and grilled bread ($17) to the braised Colorado lamb shank with orzo, tomatoes and French feta for $30. This may be Vermont’s best restaurant." New York Times

275 Main at Pitcher Inn Ratings and Reviews
A very disappointing and insultingly expensive Valentine's dinner. Someone needs to re-think this wine list too...prices are stratospheric and go up from there! Although the food was well-prepared it was neither special nor memorable. The shtick from the waiter can be distracting, if not annoying, especially on a romantic evening. While we LOVE this property and have wiled away many an hour in the cozy bar downstairs, the dining room is probably the worst designed room in the place...someone needs to re-evaluate the layout here. 275 Main at the Pitcher Inn is probably the worst dining value proposition in all of Vermont. Would not recommend to friends, although we still heartily recommend the bar and a stay in any of their spectacularly designed guest rooms!
Awesome food, amazing service. The duck dish is unreal. One of the best I have had. Our server was charming and excellent with wine pairings. We let him drive and he did not steer us wrong. I would definitely go back here again. Not a disappointing thing about this place. Excellent!
We celebrated our 24th Anniversary Dinner at The Pitcher Inn. When we sat down at our beautiful window table overlooking the stream, we were presented with our Menus which the hostess had printed Happy 24th Anniversary on them. What a surprise and special touch.
The ambiance was lovely, the servers very attentive and the food was outstanding. We loved the restaurant and the inn and will definitely return.
My Husband and I are big fans of the Pitcher Inn. The Pitcher Inn is a Mad River Valley treasure! The food is always excellent and varies from season to season. The cocktails are thoughtfully created and the service is wonderfully warm. A sophisticated and friendly spot.
I was excited to eat at 275 Main because we had had dinner downstairs before and it was good. I was generally disappointed with the experience. While the staff was friendly, they weren't all that consistent with checking in. My cocktail was overly alcoholic and uninteresting for $14. Starters of asparagus salad and asparagus soup, wine suggestions were good. The $34 Lamb entree was really flavorless, with a sad side of some kind of rice or faro and our other entree of halibut was rather boring, with mild flavor. Its far far too expensive for level of service and the quality of the food. I would recommend Tracks downstairs for a burger and a beer over 275 Main upstairs.
We were in the area for a wedding and celebrated our anniversary (#38) with dinner at the Pitcher Inn. It is an historic inn and the main restaurant has a small but varied menu. The setting at 275 Main Street restaurant is lovely - dark woods, beautiful paintings, fireplace. (There is also a pub in the lower level, with outdoor seating overlooking the river.) Service is delightful: professional but extraordinarily friendly. You felt you were at a friend's house for a wonderful meal. We started with asparagus soup which was smooth & flavorful. I had the duck breast with olives (served as I asked - medium rather than rare) and my husband had the beef tenderloin. We both cleaned our plates, enjoying every bite. We split a chocolate mousse served with small chocolate chip cookies & chocolate sorbet - yumm! They have an extensive cocktail & wine list and the bartender was adept at mixing up any kind of mocktail.
Our dinner was not inexpensive but worth it, especially for a special event. I imagine the pub service & food is equally excellent.
We were traveling in the area and noticed this place on Open Table. It was about an hour drive for us but so worth it! The dining room at the inn is beautiful and the service was pitch perfect. Our dinner was excellent and the cocktails were outstanding. We only wish we were going to be in town longer.
Absolutely superb cuisine, from appetizer to salad to entrees to dessert! Subtle and creative use of ingredients without being over the top and showy. Each bite was memorable! Wine list is world class, and our table, right by the fireplace, was romantic and very conducive to conversation. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and attentive too!
We had the most wonderful experience at 275 Main while staying at The Pitcher Inn. Mason, the waiter was fabulous! He took time to offer recommendations, as well as wine to pair with our food. He was energetic and very attentive to food allergies. The atmosphere was beautiful and cozy, with a warm fireplace.
If you haven't dined at the Pitcher Inn, you're missing out on a gem of a restaurant. Its a beautifully old and quaint building located in charming Warren Village. The decor is relaxing and inviting (think "Casual Elegance" but NOT stuffy or pretentious). White linen tablecloths, tapered candles, beautiful table settings overall. Stunning artwork scattered throughout. A huge old fireplace, complete with the perfect fire to keep us cozy. All in a very "Vermont-y" quiet atmosphere. Our waiter was awesome. This guy knows his stuff! He was extremely knowledgeable in the wine selection (they have hundreds of wines to choose from), and also seemed to know every ingredient in every dish that we asked about. His attention to detail was top-notch, as was the entire staff at the Pitcher Inn. The food is delicious - fresh, locally sourced, absolutely perfectly cooked, and served to us with a simple sophistication all its own. The Chef does a wonderful job of balancing the flavors of each dish, making sure the main ingredient is the shining star of the plate (I had the duck and it was so tender and flavorful - perfect). I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a nice quiet night out
Excellent choice while in Warren for an evening out with friends. I called ahead to have a bottle of chilled champagne at our table for a birthday celebration and not only did they have that, but the menu had a personal Happy Birthday welcome for our friend! Her dessert arrived with a candle!
Food was excellent. Our table had beef tenderloin and watercress salad with pecan crusted warm goat cheese. Chicken was in a lemon sauce and was perfectly done. Dessert was a chocolate something with delectable ice cream! We tried the pork belly appetizer....not fans! Service was definitely 5 star!
Loved it! The food and service were skillfully prepared and implemented! I can recommend the Pitcher Inn to all who are looking for an exquisite dining experience in an authentic, quaint, picturesque small Vermont town. It's a fantastic combination leading to a memorable experience.
The inn and dining room were lovely. Sitting next to the fireplace was awesome. We were actually the only guests, which was good and bad I suppose. The butternut squash soup was creamy and flavorful. My husband and I both had the vegetarian dumplings for dinner which were very good but not my favorite consistency. My husband loved them though. The Concord grape sorbet was perfect.
We enjoyed an absolutely delightful evening and dinner with friends at 275 Main. The food was exquisitely presented and delicious. The beet and goat cheese salad was exceptional complete with pomegranate seeds and a delicious dressing. The Halibut was also extremely good. We enjoyed the wine selection and loved the atmosphere and ambiance. This is a must for any visitors to the Valley looking for an great and special dining experience.
