Ambiance and food were pretty good. Poor service.
Proximity to the opera house was main attraction.
This was our first time using Open Table and I was nervous as some of the reviews had said the restaurant was "energetic",and service slow. We had to make the symphony on time. The food was well rated though so we took a chance. I said in special requests that we had a time issue. The restaurant called me twice! Once to confirm the reservation and then an hour or so before we were to arrive to see if we could arrive at little earlier. They wee concerned! We couldn't , but arrived at our scheduled time. Service and food were way above expectations. We would definitely return!
Our seating arrangement was a little weird, but that did not detract from our enjoyment too much once we got used to it. I had their cheese plate (listed as an appetizer) for dessert, and it was quite enjoyable. My main course was a little bland, but my date enjoyed his entree very much.
The food was very good but service was uneven. We ordered drinks and after a while they did not arrive. The manager came by asking if we needed anything and when we said we had already ordered drinks they finally arrived. Also, one item ordered didn't appear until we received our check.
I will give them another chance.
We brought my 4 year old grand daughter just prior to taking her to the Orpheum for The Lion King. This has always been a great place for dinner before the opera, but we wondered about bringing a kid in there, what with the dark and romantic ambiance and very prominent bar scene. However, they were exceedingly kid-friendly: they had a booster seat and several options for lunch for her, including delicious macaroni & cheese and a lovely steamed milk. We always enjoy dinners at Soluna, but this lunch worked out extremely well for us. Plus, great coffee!
Food was great but something was definitely up with the kitchen or the service. Nothing was coming out on time and they were apologizing all over the place as the location makes it very likely that folks are dining before a performance (as we were).
I have to think based on all the reviews I have seen that this was a one off thing.
We will try it again because of the food!
Because it is convenient to the opera and symphony, we go back every so often to see if there is improvement. Four or five years ago, it was among our favorites. Sadly, Soluna continues to disappoint. The bar management is nonexistent. The bartender was not busy, but it took over 20 minutes and two reminders to get our pre-dinner drinks. Two common brands of gin were not available, replaced with brands we hadn't heard of that weren't very good. The food was not bad, but it took a long time to come with apologies that the kitchen was tied up with a large table, a table that arrived after our order had been placed. We would suggest the owners consider new house and bar management.
The Michelin star they recently received is very well deserved! Highly recommended!
This is our "usual" go-to spot for a pre-theatre dining experience. We had to book a 5:30 reservation since the 6:00 slots were gone. It's a good thing that we did. while the food was it's usual exceptional best, the service was slow - more concern for others than us. We'll still be back. One off night cannot outweigh the exceptional experiences we have previously enjoyed. Hats still off to the chef and bartender.
Although the food was very good our experience was not so good. We arrived at 6:10 (ten minutes late for reservation due to traffic). Our entre was not served until 7:00 and we asked twice for it. We had tickets for the opera and due to our age wanted to leave by 7:30. We did mention that we were going to the opera that evening. Because of the slow service, we probably will not come again for a pre-opera, pre-symphony meal. That's too bad because we have season tickets for both.. In addition we had to ask for bread twice. The tempersture was so hot as to make it very uncomfortable. We have been to Saluna before and the service was slow, but tolerable. This time it made the meal feel rushed, and not worth repeating.
Stopped for dinner prior to the opera. We gave ourselves two hours so we wouldn't be rushed. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the feeling is disconnected. We were seated and brought menus but there was a long pause between each step, as if we needed to initiate it. There were a number of open tables and what appeared to be plenty of servers but service was spotty. The dinner was acceptable but portions felt inadequate. In the charcuterie platter, there were tiny wedges of cheese and the sausage was 5 paper thin slices. We ordered a side dish of beans and they were dry and flavorless -- hard to imagine why a chef would let them out of the kitchen. I was hoping for a better experience.
Great location for Orpheum theater evening. But so hot and humid inside! We died. Food was okay...med burgers were well-done, fried chicken looked sad but tasted okay. Friendly waitstaff. Easy parking. They need to fix their broken light sconces! We'd go again.
Perfect for dinner before the show at The Orpheum. Nice menu, great service.
Restaurant was small, bar area at front was very busy. Food was good. Small portions for the price. Most everything was alacarte.
We had only an hour for dinner before going to Herbst Theater. We were done and well fed in that time frame. Friendly wait staff on that Wed. evening. I will go back to try the chicken.
Service was a little slow, and we had notified the waitress that we were catching a show at the Orpheum. Great spot for dinner prior to shows there.
Food and deserts were good. Coctails were great. Menu selection was a bit sparse.
I gave eaten here a few times now and like it, it's a good place before the theater
Great for pre theater dining - staff is responsive to getting you to the theater on time!
A nice little restaurant for a preshow dinner. We went before seeing the Lion King at the Orpheum and was within well-lit, walking distance to the show. The food was good, service good and overall a good experience. It is a small place but looked like it
accomodated a large party with no problems. Good experience.
The wait staff was very friendly. Unfortunately the service was slow due to the back up in the kitchen. It was suppoedly due to a large group. In my way of thinking they should have anticipated and been prepared for the large group and not have made other diners have a long wait for their food.
