We started off with a great experience, but as the restaurant got busy our waiter was not following up and we through last part of dinner and desert without a check in. Missed having coffee with my desert ended up just getting check with was a long process as well to get and then also to wait for paying.
I get it’s busy but it’s Saturday should have been staffed properly if that was the issue.
We were here for the breakfast buffet on Christmas Day and considering the reviews, we were a little dissapointed. The food was okay - typical breakfast fare (sausage, bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs) and then prime rib, fruit and vegetable salads, belgian waffles and cakes. The prime rib was great. Also enjoyed the omelette station. The guys serving the prime rib and waffles were a hoot and looked like they were having a jolly old time.
The restaurant was amazing! Such a relaxing atmosphere. Elegant yet comfortable at the same time. Our waiter, Edward, was professional and knowledgeable and very accommodating to special requests. We will definitely be back again to try some more of the menu!
We have been dining at this location for many years, we decided to return for Christmas Eve dinner. The on-line menu listed full menu plus a select 4-course meal. When we arrived we were told there was only the 4-course meal (and children’s menu). The service was slow and painful, the portions were meager at best and the staff informed us, after the menu switch, there was not bread service. What?
It was Christmas Eve, no options to leave, so we endured two hours of poor service and food.
We celebrated our 40 anniversary at the Abbey. Decided to eat at 240 West having never been there. We were so pleased that the food was delicious, reasonably priced and the service made us feel special. Our server was amazing. She even brought us 2 glasses of champagne! I would definitely recommend!
Came for the oysters and seafood on the Saturday night buffet. Loved everything - only thing is the oysters could have been a little fresher. Still, it was most enjoyable, and relaxing. Our waiter was the best waiter I have come across in a very long time! He knew the menu like no other, along with offering specials and upselling, and was most polite, very nice, proper, helpful, and I wish I knew his name to tell you because he should be commended. I know how difficult it is to get good or even great service these days so keep this nice young man - he's one of the best, you're lucky to have him! We sat by the window, a table of four which included a four year old girl and our whole experience was terrific. Thank you!
We make an annual trip each year to this restaurant for Sunday Brunch to see Santa, listen to the amazing piano player ( who can play the piano and trumpet at the same time), and have a great meal. It's our family tradition before heading out after brunch to cut down our Christmas tree at a nearby place. The brunch has always been delicious with a variety of foods including an omelette station, carving station, sweets table and hot and cold entrees. Santa is there to talk to the kids in a relaxed atmosphere and each child receives a candy cane from him too. I can't speak about brunch at other times of the year. Menu options are also available as well as the brunch. The dining room overlooks their harbor and Lake Geneva which is pretty.
We were celebrating our anniversary & were looking forward to a slow paced dinner. When we arrived at the hostess stand there were 3-4 young staff members engaged in a personal discussion. It took several moments to get their attention. Our waiter was very nice but wanted to rush us through our dinner due to the late hour, 8:00PM, of our reservation, the restaurant closed at 10:00PM. We informed him that we would like a few moments to enjoy our drinks. The drinks were watered down w/ little flavor. My cosmo had so much water in it that the water was actually floating as a layer on top. We ordered the Prime Rib buffet, which included snow crab legs, fish, baked potatoes, pasta, salad, cheese bar, oysters on the 1/2 shell, & dessert bar. The lettuce was wilted, the cheese had been out so long that it was dry, the oyster bar had barely enough ice to keep the oysters cool, the items on the main buffet were barely warm & the desserts were dry & tasted old. The prime rib itself was good & the gentleman at the carving station was very funny.
It was our first visit. We came to celebrate my birthday and were not disappointed. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The server certainly knows the menu and his suggestions were helpful. Everyone enjoyed his or her meal. The Chilean Sea Bass was perhaps the best I've had. It was our first visit, but not our last.
When we arrived we were told that our server would be with us shortly and to be patient because they were busy(the restaurant was barely half full). It took 15 mins for our waiter to come to our table. When I️ asked the server what beers they had on tap he was fairly snippy when he told me they do not have beer on tap. Then seemed annoyed when I️ asked what beer they had in bottles. After ordering, it took almost 45 minutes for us to get our soup, salad and our apatizer. At this point my son(a toddler) was losing his composure so we asked to take it to go and for the bill. Once again our server seemed very annoyed. Finally when I️ tried to pay with a Visa prepaid card I️ was told they don’t take gift cards. Needless to say, I️ would never consider revisiting this restaurant.
My wife and I chose 240 West from the list of restaurants participating in the 'Dine Around the Lake' event in Lake Geneva, WI, and we were very pleased with the menu offerings. We chose different appetizers, entree's and dessert so we could experience all the Chef had to offer.
Everything exceeded our expectations!
We got the Prime Rib buffet. The beef was excellent, but the crab legs were hit or miss. The first few plates my husband got were dry, but when they put out a fresh batch, he said they were excellent. The rest of the selections were very average. I’ve had better buffets! I’m wishing we had ordered off the menu... the food at the table next to us looked amazing!
We spent the night at the Abbey Resort for our 20th wedding anniversary. We spent the day at the spa and didn't feel like venturing out for dinner. We made a reservation 240 West for dinner. Knowing it was a quiet off season Wednesday night, we weren't expecting too much. We were pleasantly surprised at what a great experience it was! Our server was fabulous - top notch. We had a great bottle of wine and entrees were really superb. The chef even insisted on preparing another portion of salmon for my husband after realizing he had ordered it medium rare (even though the first portion was great). They topped it off with a complimentary dessert and two glasses of champagne! We will definitely be back.
Went for an 80th Birthday celebration with immediate family of 8. They put us in the *private room* that had absolutely stunning décor and the ambiance far exceeded my expectations! Our server JAMIE was the BEST OF THE BEST! She was, personable, courteous, efficient and friendly to mention only a few! All 8 of us were impressed - keep up the good work, JAMIE.
When I first called to make a reservation, they mentioned to me that the private room was available, otherwise I would have had no idea - The manager Daniel was also most accommodating . We went in early to put a few decorations up, we were really early as they were still setting up the room, we sat down and the waiter brought us waters while we waited - basically 1 minute.
The Food was great, while having a good selection to choose from - but the staff was absolutely the BEST :)
Manager chased me through the hotel embarressing me in front of my guests and others. All because I parked in a legal spot that was not marked valet only. And manager did not like being told no. Was so pathetic he had to call security who was most polite and saw nothing wrong which enraged the manager. All done for us to aarive for a 6:30 PM reservation with no one else in entire restaurant. You decide, I won't be back.
First and foremost, let me say that this venue is beautifully located on Lake Geneva. We were a bridal party of 6 and opted to have brunch here before our spa treatments. The food was delicious! From the fresh omelettes to the tasty little jams on every table. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. What we did not enjoy was the attitude from our server Samantha. She was inattentive, unwilling to ask if my friend order the Challah bread (even though it was on the menu), and rolled her eyes when we asked to split our check given that there were 6 of us. We literally had to flag her down to get our check because she basically disappeared and started avoiding our table. I do not think anything we asked was unreasonable and frankly we were there to celebrate our friend Megan's wedding. And this experience sort of soured our morning. She basically threw the check down and was upset we asked for split checks. How is this a hard task? How is it a hard task to remotely be nice to your table?
We went for the Prime Rib Buffet on a Saturday night with reservations at 5:00 when the restaurant opened. The cod was good, the baked potato was good, the pasta was ok. The chicken on the buffet was cold, the pork was tasteless, and the prime rib that we went for was overdone. It was almost like it was left over from the day before and was warmed up. A new prime rib was put out and it was medium to medium rare, which was much better. For $30 per person, the value was not there. This being said, 240 West was recommended to us by two other couples who had a pleasant experience. Based on our experience, we will never recommend 240 West as a place to go to eat, rather we will tell people to definitely not go there.
Great waterfront/marina view. The Staff was friendly, though because the restaurant was under Staffed to handle the crowd, we waited long periods of time to place our order, or be served. I should also point out that they were grossly understaffed and the restaurant was only at 50% capacity. The food was basic and nothing special...on par with the average family restaurant. If however, you seek an incredible waterfront/marina view, with slow service, average food, higher prices, and personable wait staff...this is your place. It could have been more in my opinion.
We were on our way to a concert by the lake and gave this place a try. Everything was good to very good. They offer a better than expected buffet which my wife took and I tried some items on the menu. The views are nice and the place has a good vibe. The young server staff is knowledgeable but needs to follow up a bit more. The food and value are a great find. We will go back.
Our dining experience was wonderful! Our waitress Jayme was exceptional and she really went above and beyond to make our dining experience a memorable one. She made awesome recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu items. We will definitely return and ask for Jayme again!
Was able to make a last minute reservation on buffet night. While I'm not a buffet fan, my boys all had a fantastic experience. The crab legs and prime rib made it worth the trip. I appreciate their good gluten free options. Best thing here is the service. From the waiters to the runners, these folks work very hard and aim to please.
Good place to go for nice dinner while staying at Abbey Resort as other choices in Fontana are all pretty casual. Caution on Saturday Night Prime Rib Buffet. Prime Rib was actually very good but some of the other items on Buffet were dried out and nasty. Crab legs were small but good and oysters were not good at all. For $30 I thought you got what your paid for. My daughter ordered slab of ribs and they were dry and tough. Wife ordered Salmon Club and enjoyed it. Service a bit slow with dirty plates sittIngrid in table for a while but waiter was super friendly so that helped. Not a lot of choices in area so this is the place for a special occasion or nice dinner while on vacation.
My wife and I decided to dine at 240 West at the Abbey in Fontana. It had been years since we had stopped at the Abbey and wanted to try the restaurant for the first time. Upon arriving we asked for a window seat and after waiting for a very short time we were seated at a very nice table that overlooked the water and marina. Our server promptly greeted us and took our order for a bottle of wine. When she brought it I discovered it was a bottle of red instead of the white we ordered but she took it away upon discovering her mistake and very quickly brought the correct bottle. She was very knowledgeable regarding the menu and provided good service. We both ordered Chilean Sea Bass which was very good.......it was done to perfection. The only disappointment is the restaurant does not serve cappuccino which was very surprising to both of us. We would consider this restaurant to be a fine dining establishment and in our experience fine dining restaurants always serve cappuccino. Having said that we will return to dine here again at some point in the future.
Our server was GREAT, food was average to good for buffet food.
Disappointing, as we were NOT told it was mainly buffet when we made reservations for a special occasion.
The atmosphere of people constantly milling about ruined any romantic meal possibility.
We were looking for fine dining on the resort property.
Without a great server, this would have been a very frustrating experience.
Bus help was mostly unavailable, we found much of the food was over cooked and was lukewarm in the server. Not good, and not safe.
The price was quite high for the actual value of the food presented.
We were looking for a bit more class, some refinement; and not a family buffet, (as we had inquired, ahead of time, by phone, if this was an upscale restaurant to spend an anniversary dinner at.)
It would have been much better for the staff on the phone to tell us to look elsewhere for that kind of restaurant experience, as the resort does not offer it on premises.
