We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary at 221, and the experience was perfect. The food was phenomenal and the wine pairings were perfect. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive.

Love 221, tonight the food was not up to it standards.
No sure it was just because it was the end of the season.

Always excellent food and Rachel is an excellent server. Ask her to surprise you with an appetizer 😂. And I accidentally left my credit card and before I was 5 blocks away, the manager Luke called me to let me know. You guys ROCK.

Exquisite meals. We ordered Colorado chicken and Ahi tuna the first night, and were so taken by the preparation, that we we returned a second night to be more adventurous. The menu is extensive and unique, featuring local meats: bison, boar, and elk, as well as Colorado trout, and superbly prepared sides. The duo of soups is different each night. One of the best meals. Ever. Chef Eliza Gavin is amazing; truly a Top Chef.

The food was good, most of it but the service was less than stellar. The eople working there were not very warm, friendly, or attentive. There were some very interesting menu choices, however.

LOVE THIS PLACE! We ate here on a Sunday, the last day of our trip. Our server (Audrey M) was wonderful, and very accommodating to the food allergies in our party. We each had a crafted cocktail at the beginning of the meal, and they were all greatly enjoyed. All of the food descriptions looked so good. We had a buttermilk fried quail appetizer that had a sweet with heat sauce (spicy honey) and a bit of salad with blue cheese. it was SOOO good. I could have eaten a lot more of that!! We also got the Apple and Shaved Cabbage Salad with Bleu D'Auvergne Dressing, this was good, but not nearly as yummy as the quail. For entrees, I had the Rocky Mountain Trout with Duo of Ravioli and Truffle Oil
Arugula and lemon caper brown butter this came from heaven!! my husband had the salmon and another guest had a lovely bone marrow over Brussel sprouts and was quite pleased with that. We all agreed that this was the best meal of the trip!!!! If I lived near here, I would definitely frequent it often. Can't say enough about the options created by the chef Eliza Gavin. Nice use of unusual and varied ingredients, made creative tasty dishes.

As an owner, I would pay for each of my employees and their spouse/significant other to go dine at Cosmopolitan just once as a patron. There was just a bit of "snobishness" at 221 that you don't see at Cosmo, and a "lack of calm" getting us from the bar to our table while we were trying to settle a tip. Hard to describe but quite noticeable when you dine back to back at the two places....presentation of food, depth and more varied wine list, very friendly wait staff, better priced even. Food wonderful at both places. It's the little things that make you want to go back to a place.

We enjoyed the culinary adventure, such creative dishes served beautifully. The duo of soups was a highlight with enjoying each one individually and then combined. Our cozy window seat was perfect for our birthday celebration.

The lamb and bison tasted doctored and tenderized. The accompaniments did not seem to pair well with the meats. Service was excellent though.

This is the BEST meal I have had- not just in Telluride...but anywhere. Every bite from each dish was so satisfyingly flavorful. The selections were creative- from the cocktails, to the apps, to the entrees, through the last bite of our decadent desserts. Even the glass of wine brought over for my boyfriend to have with his steak was paired perfectly.
I’ve never taken the time to write a review for a restaurant, but I knew that feedback in this case was necessary. The prices almost deterred me from booking, but this experience was worth every penny! We will be back very soon. Thanks for an unforgettable evening.

Amazing meal! Great selection and creative menu. The scallops and bison strip were incredible entrees. Prepared perfectly and full of flavor and creative twists. Appetizers of the soup duo was top notch and the tuna tartare was very good! Will return to this hidden gem when in Telluride!

Most memorable meal of our ski week in Telluride. The small and cozy restaurant is beautifully decorated. The choices of beverages included organic apple cider as well as pricier wines with a few available by the glass. Dinner menu includes a separate vegetarian menu with so many intriguing options, it was difficult to decide. I opted for two appetizers, frissee salad with heart of palm and blood orange that smelled wonderful, and salmon carpaccio. Friends enjoyed monk fish, red trout, and a sausage sampler. I will definitely return on a future trip.

This was our fourth visit over the past 10 years. We have never been disappointed. The menu is always different and eclectic and most importantly every dish is delicious. Service is prompt, but not rushed and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Next time in Telluride, we will certainly return.

Here's the good news... The food was creative and delicious. In fact, each dish (we had full meals with apps, main courses, and dessert) was excellent. Several of the dishes contained unusual flavors that really worked well together, and made the experience different from what we would likely experience at home.

Now the bad news... Throughout the meal it was clear that the staff wanted us out of the restaurant as quickly as possible (we did have a reservation). The waitress tried to remove plates before we were finished with courses (no kidding). At the end of the meal when the dessert was removed we still had some wine remaining. The waitress specifically said that she would not bring the check until we were ready. A few minutes later the manager brought the check, and then the waitress came over to 'apologize' that he did this. I find it very difficult to believe that this wasn't orchestrated given the staff's behavior throughout the meal.

So if you want creative, delicious food in a comfortable atmosphere, and don't mind being rushed out of the restaurant throughout your fairly expensive meal, 221 South Oak should be on your list.

We jhad an excellent dinner. Rachel and the rest of the team gave us stellar service. I had the hangar steak with a huge shitaki mushroom, great sauce and gnocchi. My husband had the watercress salad, dressing was to die for and the Scallops, The sauce on the Scallops the pears, cauliflower and broccolini were outstanding. He topped it off with a glass of arbarino and I had a glass of tamprinino with my steak which was cooked perfectly. The only improvement I see is a shortage of wines by the glass

Appetizer was good but main course was bland. Dessert average. Service was attentive but rushed - I think they try to turn tables over fast. Not as good as we’d hoped from the reviews. May just have been a bad night.

Was celebrating a personal milestone and hadn’t been to 221 in a while. Always always love Chef Eliza’s cooking and menu offerings, especially her exotic meat selections. She sources incredibly high quality food and cooks it right! As a diner who for heart reasons avoids (beloved) beef except very occasionally, it was a treat to be able to choose between a Rocky Mountain Elk T-bone and a Bison New York Strip (marinated in Telluride Brewing Company Face Down Brown and served with a chimichurri sauce).

As usual, the food was superb. I started with a shaved cauliflower and Brussels sprouts salad served with fresh mango and a spicy carrot vinaigrette and topped with a slice of dukkah crusted bacon —outrageously unique! I ordered the bison very rare and so it came. The flavors were incredible!
