This was our second time eating at 221 and like the first time the meal was excellent.
Our friends come
It was a lovely evening.
Food was great, wine was overpriced, service was fair at best
Great restaurant in Telluride
Best Elk I have ever had!
Amazing! We went here for a birthday and were seated in the most perfect table up front. We’ve been to a half dozen dinner locations and this one was the very best!
One of the best restaurants in America!
We received a gift certificate for dinner at 221 South Oak and found it to be a wonderful and rewarding experience. Our entrees, which consisted of scallops and a bison strip steak, were prepared as requested and were very delicious. We would certainly recommend the restaurant to others and plan to return soon.
Could be the best restaurant in Town and that says a lot
Everything was excellent. Very expensive, but that's Telluride
Were excited to try this place based on all the reviews. We also had 2 vegetarians in the group and the restaurant has an extensive vegetarian menu. Unfortunately the service and food were mediocre. All our food was under seasoned and there was little concern when plates were cleared with at least half the food remaining. The trout was very good but the other 6 dishes were not. We didn’t even want to look at a dessert menu at the end of the meal and went back to our rental and ate some leftovers. Don’t understand the hype about this place - we won’t be back.
The experience was so unpleasant I would not recommend it, even though the food was exceptional.
The menu is seasonal and absolutely spectacular from the cocktails, wine list, entrees and dessert! We live out of state, but frequent Telluride often and will be coming back during the Film Festival and have already made reservations for 2 nights that week. Make a reservation and don’t miss out of this culinary delight!!
Lovely meal. Monkfish and lamb were standouts
The staff is attentive, atmosphere is perfect and the food is excellent. We had the scallops and bison which were both cooked to perfection. A must visit on your trip to Telluride.
Great food, mediocre service.
Fantastic!! One of our favorite all-time restaurants...
Really enjoyed the food. 221 is not cheap however, especially the wine list
Excellent food and service. Limited wine list and mark ups are far higher than expected even for a remote location. Example - bottle of Ken Wright Pinot, purchased in town for $24, selling for $85 at the restaurant. Beyond that, was very pleased.
Fun, great people make you feel welcome, excellent service and wonderful food
It was what you expected at a high end restaurant; good food, nice service. But they are lacking a personal touch. The initial greeting wasn't very welcoming. When we left no one says good bye or acknowledges our departure. In Telluride there are many nice restaurants with quality food and service, the ones we prefer make the stay a bit more personal.
Buenos platillos y carta de vino asexuada
Wonderful ambiance. Small and cozy. Warm hospitality, innovative and creative food selections. Definitely top on the list and will return next time in Telluride!
We had a wonderful meal at 221 Oak. The service was exceptional!!
Outstanding cuisine and impeccable service. The highlight of our dining experiences in Telluride.
Always a wonderful treat to dine at 221. This evening the menu was especially terrific and creative. Our group of one mom with young foodies and 1 vegetarian were deeply impressed. Service was spot-on and very efficient—particularly appreciated after a long day on the mountain.
Fabulous dining experience, w/ food & service excellent! What an extensive vegetarian menu. Our party of 4 was all so pleased!
Our food and service were excellent. We each had a delicious salad, followed by pheasant and scallops each prepared in the chef's unique fashion. We thoroughly enjoy dining here each visit to Telluride.
Too many ingredients in each dish. Frequently competing with each other. Same ingredients used in multiple dishes so if you don’t like something it eliminates a lot of choices and makes an overly large menu actually quite small. The food itself can most kindly be described as inedible. Tired, poorly prepared and frequently tasteless.
I always stop at 221 South Oak when in Telluride. Usually the most outstanding meal
While in town. However this trip I was a little disappointed with my selection. It was
Not up to par with the usual meals I have had in the past. But once again usually the
Best stop in Telluride.
The food and ambiance were excellent. Two of us had venison osso buco and one of us had the elk t-bone. The meat, sauces and accompaniments were amazingly good. Love the decor - the colors and the paintings. The wine list is also great but pricey. The only miss of the evening was our bottle of wine did not arrive on a timely basis for the main course. Otherwise a great experience. Would highly recommend 221 South Oak for a special evening out.
Unbelievably delicious food. I had the lamb and my husband had the elk. Both wonderful. We are still talking about the delicious meal we had at 221 South Oak.
We enjoyed our meal at 221 South Oak. Salads were inventive, but a little lackluster. Lamb chops were very good, though they had a bit too much flavor of the grill which obstructed the flavor of the lamb itself. All of the dishes were well prepared and nicely presented.
Our Telluride tradition and never disappointed! We are a family of Sewanee grads and love to follow the chef and owner.
Wonderful cozy restaurant in Telluride.
Beautiful food. Inventive flavors and great staff.
Wonderful as always. The cheesy grits were spectacular! Fabulous service!
Phenomenal food, great service, the best meal I’ve had in telluride !
