You're accustomed to great food at the restaurant, now experience it in your home. Whether it's a dinner party, quiet luncheon or drinks and nibbles, we're here for you. If you're lacking space for a large party, you may rent out 221. A great space for rehearsal dinners, family reunions, and holiday parties.
Service was poor. Food was creative but some dishes lacked flavor. I had heard great things about this place but was pretty disappointed with my meal overall. Would probably give it another shot but had much better meals while in Telluride and much better service.
We were on vacation and chose 221 South Oak for a nice dinner out. To start my husband had the watermelon beet salad, very refreshing. I had the watermelon, fennel, corona salad that was the perfect summer salad- bursting with layers of light summer flavors. For the entree, my husband had the trout and said it was excellent. I had the bison strip and it was cooked perfectly and so delicious. Our server recommended the perfect summer wine, the California Smoke Tree Rosé. She was so attentive, but not invasive. Also, we splurged and split the chocolate mousse dessert. Great way to end the meal! Thanks for making our last night in Telluride so memorable!
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at 221 S Oak. The food was excellent and not run of the mill preparation. The ahi tuna tartar appetizer was unbelievable.
Everything was AMAZING! Everything!
Excellent meal again at 221! Unique combination of flavors with a great presentation. As Paul Prudhomme said, there should be a party going on in your mouth when you are eating good food. 221 will get that party going on.
Always delightful, however the service not up to the usual standards
We have had many meals there. This is - place with great food and a creative kitchen that never stops surprising.
The regular menu is extensive with too many good-sounding things to try in one visit. Everything we've ever had here has been excellent. On top of that, the vegetarian menu is exceptional. We're not vegetarian but have tried some of the selections on various occasions just because they sound so good, and we've never been disappointed. This place is a real find for vegetarians who usually get short-shrift in restaurants.
So many vegetarian choices for us. Great food, creatively presented. Terrific service. Dined on the patio on beautiful evening. Five stars.
Spectacular bartender, food even better. Best brunch in town. Complimentary blueberry muffins were delish!
Wonderful food in lovely home atmosphere......bustling crowd......creative, interesting menu
This was my second time eating at this restaurant and I have to say the experience was even better the second time. The food here is absolutely phenomenal and the service staff is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive.
Always like 221 That night was not as good as many other dinners. Martini was one of the weakest ever and Halibut was not memorable. The tuna tartare appetizer was greasy always
It was our first trip to Telluride and my 56th birthday (6/7/18). With all the rave reviews and top rating we booked dinner there. We asked the waiter which two appetizers he liked the best and one of them was the octopus. It was dull and chewy and even fishy tasting; definitely not fresh and full of flavor. I got the scallops and my wife got the Wild boar loin. The scallops were quite good but the loon although cooked medium rare was very chewy and very disappointing. Overall not a good first impression and likely not going back. Just being very honest ..happy birthday!
Was thrilled to drag my non-foodie boyfriend here for our last dinner in Telluride. He was equally as blown away as I was in everything from the setting, the cocktails and of course the food! Aside from telling more folk to visit Telluride, I will absolutely send them to 221 South Oak for dinner!
What happened? Did this chef change? This was an embarrassment and a let down after I talked it up to friends. I’m confused. This used to be the best place in town behind Siam.
Best brunch in Telluride. Great food, nice staff and enjoyable atmosphere. I had the soft shell crab Benedict and it was delicious. We will be back again. Only problem is that 221 brunch is only in the summer. Wish it was year round.
Every part of our dinner was amazing! We dined on the patio and had an amazing server. The fried green tomatoes were delicious as were the trout and halibut. Would definitely recommend, and make sure to have a reservation- they were busy.
While everything on the menu sounded phenomenal, the meal was not outstanding and very pricey. I had the halibut with dandelion pesto. It was dry and did not have enough sauce. My husband had the elk T bone, which was also just so-so. My son, not finding anything of interest, had the sausage appetizer for dinner. However, there were several sausages that were so hard they were hard to chew. It was a very expensive meal and we were not excited by the food. The waitress seemed distracted and paid way more attention to the locals.
My husband brought me here for my birthday as we're vegetarians and it's hard to get a good veggie meal in Telluride. We were super happy with the menu selections, although the appetizer we order (Warm cucumber noodle salad) was basically just tasteless oily noodles with hot cucumbers. Our dinners were great though! I had the jackfruit with polenta and my husband had gnocchi. Midway through our dinner, I ordered an Aperol spritz but the waiter brought me something altogether different without asking me. After dinner, I stopped by the bar to ask what it was and found out they don't even have Aperol. They should really tell you that before they just bring you something random. We ordered brown butter cake to go and it was okay but I wouldn't order it again. Overall it was good and we'll go back because we like the menu.
We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary at 221, and the experience was perfect. The food was phenomenal and the wine pairings were perfect. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive.
Love 221, tonight the food was not up to it standards.
No sure it was just because it was the end of the season.
Always excellent food and Rachel is an excellent server. Ask her to surprise you with an appetizer 😂. And I accidentally left my credit card and before I was 5 blocks away, the manager Luke called me to let me know. You guys ROCK.
Exquisite meals. We ordered Colorado chicken and Ahi tuna the first night, and were so taken by the preparation, that we we returned a second night to be more adventurous. The menu is extensive and unique, featuring local meats: bison, boar, and elk, as well as Colorado trout, and superbly prepared sides. The duo of soups is different each night. One of the best meals. Ever. Chef Eliza Gavin is amazing; truly a Top Chef.
Always great food and service!
A must stop when visiting Telluride
Our favorite place for a good meal, cocktails and wine - for any day as well as holidays
The food was good, most of it but the service was less than stellar. The eople working there were not very warm, friendly, or attentive. There were some very interesting menu choices, however.
221 is always a favorite of ours in Telluride.
LOVE THIS PLACE! We ate here on a Sunday, the last day of our trip. Our server (Audrey M) was wonderful, and very accommodating to the food allergies in our party. We each had a crafted cocktail at the beginning of the meal, and they were all greatly enjoyed. All of the food descriptions looked so good. We had a buttermilk fried quail appetizer that had a sweet with heat sauce (spicy honey) and a bit of salad with blue cheese. it was SOOO good. I could have eaten a lot more of that!! We also got the Apple and Shaved Cabbage Salad with Bleu D'Auvergne Dressing, this was good, but not nearly as yummy as the quail. For entrees, I had the Rocky Mountain Trout with Duo of Ravioli and Truffle Oil
Arugula and lemon caper brown butter this came from heaven!! my husband had the salmon and another guest had a lovely bone marrow over Brussel sprouts and was quite pleased with that. We all agreed that this was the best meal of the trip!!!! If I lived near here, I would definitely frequent it often. Can't say enough about the options created by the chef Eliza Gavin. Nice use of unusual and varied ingredients, made creative tasty dishes.
As an owner, I would pay for each of my employees and their spouse/significant other to go dine at Cosmopolitan just once as a patron. There was just a bit of "snobishness" at 221 that you don't see at Cosmo, and a "lack of calm" getting us from the bar to our table while we were trying to settle a tip. Hard to describe but quite noticeable when you dine back to back at the two places....presentation of food, depth and more varied wine list, very friendly wait staff, better priced even. Food wonderful at both places. It's the little things that make you want to go back to a place.
The food was exquisite! The service was excellent! I cannot wait to go back and eat there again.
We enjoyed the culinary adventure, such creative dishes served beautifully. The duo of soups was a highlight with enjoying each one individually and then combined. Our cozy window seat was perfect for our birthday celebration.
We have never had a bad meal at 221 Oak. Food is fresh and creative. Service is outstanding. We always try and visit a few times during our stay in Telluride.
The lamb and bison tasted doctored and tenderized. The accompaniments did not seem to pair well with the meats. Service was excellent though.
This is the BEST meal I have had- not just in Telluride...but anywhere. Every bite from each dish was so satisfyingly flavorful. The selections were creative- from the cocktails, to the apps, to the entrees, through the last bite of our decadent desserts. Even the glass of wine brought over for my boyfriend to have with his steak was paired perfectly.
I’ve never taken the time to write a review for a restaurant, but I knew that feedback in this case was necessary. The prices almost deterred me from booking, but this experience was worth every penny! We will be back very soon. Thanks for an unforgettable evening.
Amazing meal! Great selection and creative menu. The scallops and bison strip were incredible entrees. Prepared perfectly and full of flavor and creative twists. Appetizers of the soup duo was top notch and the tuna tartare was very good! Will return to this hidden gem when in Telluride!
My favorite food in the world!! Outstanding vegetarian menu!!!
Nice ambiance, excellent food. Extensive vegetarian menu but regular menu also has great variety and creative combinations. Nash, our server, was super.
Most memorable meal of our ski week in Telluride. The small and cozy restaurant is beautifully decorated. The choices of beverages included organic apple cider as well as pricier wines with a few available by the glass. Dinner menu includes a separate vegetarian menu with so many intriguing options, it was difficult to decide. I opted for two appetizers, frissee salad with heart of palm and blood orange that smelled wonderful, and salmon carpaccio. Friends enjoyed monk fish, red trout, and a sausage sampler. I will definitely return on a future trip.
