22 Square Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
We arrived on time for a 7pm reservation & was told we wouldn't be seated till 7:10 because they were serving a large party??? Ok but the small restaurant was fairly empty otherwise. Not sure what the large party had to do with seating us according to our reservation time - our table was sitting empty while we sat in the hotel lobby waiting.
At 7pm on Sat night I ordered pork entree & our server came back a few minutes later to say they had no pork left. Cranberry bread was really good (would be nice for breakfast-a little sweet)We ordered the Mac & cheese as appetizer which was good but really filling. I decided to get the short rib entree which I really enjoyed. My husband got the chicken which was tender but dry. Not such a great wine selection (very limited & nothing we were familiar with). Menu in general was limited. Service was slow but courteous.
Specializing in locally sourced food. Housed in a modern hotel lobby extension, the local Southern style food does not exactly match the more austere ambiance. The food is excellent though. I am confused by some of the past reviews that stated that the portions were small. The portions were perfectly sized to a bit too big for a 190lb guy. Suggest the chicken thigh and pork belly combo as well as the Brussels Sprouts side and Fried Green tomato starter which arrived with shrimp. Cook comes out to welcome his guests and cooks in the open. Highly suggest on a weekend trip to counter the ambiance of an earlier meal at the Olde Pink House or Elizabeth on 37 to mix it up.
Great food and attention by our server. Salmon, fried green tomatoes and bread pudding were excellent
Ambience - too austere and cold. Need to add wall coverings or something . Also, we walked around for 10 minutes trying to find the restaurant as the signage is small and unlit
Excellent meal and very responsive service. The cocktails were very nice and the pre-meal bread was simply delicious.
We started with the Deviled Eggs appetizer which was perfectly sized and very tasty. My wife then had the vegetarian entree while I tried the Shrimp and Grits. Both meals were faultless!
We split the Bread Pudding dessert to close out our meal. All-in-all, a very relaxing evening together over a delicious meal. Highly recommended if you have not been here yet!
Unique space behind the bar of a boutique hotel. The wine, beer and cocktails menu is larger than the food menu.
The salmon was served over the largest zucchini I have ever seen. The chicken was served over some ancient grains, but both were superbly prepared.
Very quiet place, not a lot of ambience. Went as a group to start a night out and it wasn’t really what we were looking for. Most of our dishes were pretty good but the cheese plate starter was pretty ridiculous- very bland cheese, small portion, and a few pieces of crostini. Cocktails were good though!
The price point is perfect not too expensive. Started with a great server. Got the fired green tomatoes to start and they were amazing. Had a cocktail crafted by the bartender and that was also amazing. Then ordered the mac daddy and the steak and both were out of this world for the price! Loved this place!
The hostess was great, server was good. Food was tasty but could've been much better. Drinks were very pricey for just normal adult beverages like wine or gin and tonic.
The atmosphere was great and loved the art in the great hall. However, I think that we all agreed that this would probably be the last time visiting here except as a meet up location.
Were staying at the hotel (Andaz Savannah, a Hyatt hotel) and caught an early dinner. Restaurant was not busy at the time and were able to get table by the window looking onto Ellis Square. Staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. My wife had the boneless pork chop, which was well-seasoned, well-cooked and delicious. Came with a terrific sweet potato puree and broccolini. Chop was so big, a good 2-3in. thick, that it ended up being the next night's dinner as well. I had shrimp and grits. Not the best I've ever had but a very good version nonetheless, i.e., not five star but a strong four star dish. Decent wine selection. The pimento deviled eggs with chicken cicharones for an appetizer were excellent as well. Overall one of the better hotel restaurants we've eaten at.
Beautiful place, delicious food, great cocktails and wonderful service. The only small thing was that the resteraunt was very quiet which seemed odd because it had a lot of seating and a great bar setup. This definitely could have been because it was a Sunday night and still early. It was still a very lovely place and I would definitely recommend the shrimp and grits!
What a great last minute decision. Delicious drinks, appetizers and main course but the standout was the bread. Crazy, I know, but it was so amazing and served with salted butter that was outstanding. In addition, much care was given to accommodate a nut allergy in our party. We will be back for sure.
Fantastic server and hostess. Bartender didn't seem like he wanted to serve me though. The vegetables tasted better than the salmon. Definitely an upscale restaurant for a pleasant, romantic dinner. For what I'm paying, I expected better quality fish.
Honestly, it felt like a place overall where they didn't want me. I don't know if it was my outfit, but I was wearing a nice summer dress for the 90 F weather on Memorial Day weekend at 10pm. Let's just say the ambiance of the place attracts people who are a bit judgemental. I haven't gotten that vibe from other nice restaurants in the city though.
We were a group of 4 friends in Savannah for a day. The restaurant was a bit hard to find in the Andaz hotel and that is likely why it was not crowded. Service was attentive. Food was excellent. The fried green tomatoes was crispy outside and soft inside and flavored ricotta went well with it. Salmon was generous and perfectly cooked. Overall great experience
