Quaint Classic New England atmosphere with a warm real fire in the fireplace. Great wine selections, delicious bread/oil, tasty Caesar salad, perfect size entrees (rack of lamb special was wonderful) and delicious deserts. Best meal we've had in Bethel in a very long time.

This was an Italian-American dinner in a cozy antique setting. The drinks were excellent and pasta dishes were above average.

Fantastic New Years Eve dinner. Everything delicious. Staff worked well together, they were all helping each other out. Nice to see. The sun room was lovely, quiet and cozy. You know I'll be back.

The service was prompt, consistent and dinner was delicious. My family, which is a mix of teens and adults, liked everything; arancini, bacon wrapped scallops, chicken parmigiana and steaks. Dessert was delicious and we liked the Key Lime pie best.

A New Yorker has a very discriminating taste for Italian food. 22 Broad does a decent job at having good italian food but not great. It remains a good alternative to the many “pub” options near Sunday River ski area. I would avoid the red sauce plates as it is very thick and more like “Ragu” from the jar.

A favorite dining place of ours. The Food is outstanding and the service is prompt and friendly. The wine selection more than adequate and complements the menu nicely. It’s costly rather than expensive but well worth the price.

the service was fine but the food was very bland and over cooked. i had the Chicken Parmesan which was cooked so long it was dry and looked like it had been sitting around for hours. my husband had the Linguine with Clam Sauce and it too was bland like they just opened a can of tomato sauce with no seasoning How disappointing for Christmas Eve dinner.

Excellent food quality. Ate here on two different days during week. Had baked stuffed shrimp special which was nicely prepared with a seafood stuffing. Shrimp were fresh. On second occasion split the eggplant crispy lasagna which is a very large portion. They also have a good selection of appetizers. Ambiance is nice with a working fireplace.

Food was great as always. Table location wasn't so great. I was seated next to an old steam heat radiator that was on. We moved to another table that was in a door way. Not the best tables for 2 people.

Dinner at 22 Broad St was the best choice we made on a recent trip to Maine! The country inn setting is super comfortable, the service is outstanding, and the food was over the top good! Delicious food (22 Broad St's pork Milanese rivaled my favorite served in NYC), beautiful presentation, and ample portions delighted us all. We had a relaxing time as did other diners around us - highly recommend this place!!

Both of us started with the Zuppa which was a creamy Tomatoe Basil. Well done. My wife ordered her favorite Eggplant Lassagna which was exquisitely prepared. I ordered the Salmon which was finished with a spicy/tangy sriracha aioli drizzle. A wonderful finish to the salmon. Both dishes were paired with vegetables of the day and a side of pasta marinara. We finished with a slice of the Key Lime Pie which tied off a wonderful evening and meal.

From the moment you arrive at 22 Broad Street, you are brought back in time. The renovations on the house are only surpassed by the atmosphere, menu and martini list. We recently had a get together with a group of ski friends, 7 of us, and everyone had a great meal. The beef Braciole is my favorite. I got the Sunday Gravy which is a pasta dish, great sauce "gravy", sausage, meatballs, and Beef Braciole.

The homemade bread was warm out of the oven.

The spaghetti bolognese with the gluten-free spaghetti was absolutely delicious. I’d never had bolognese before and now I’m craving more. I was very impressed with the gluten-free spaghetti. I was expecting bland noodles like most gluten-free pasta is, but it was perfectly cooked thin spaghetti.
The service was great.
The only part I didn’t like was the layout of the restaurant. It felt awkward and crowded.
We sat by the curtain separating a small side room from the front door. It was loud and the table next to us was too close. Also a long wait to use the bathroom. It was worth it for the meal though. I would perhaps go during warmer weather to sit outside.

We went to dinner here at the recommendation of the owner of the B & B where we were staying. Lots of choices on the menu. Server was friendly although not very knowledgeable about the wine list. Portion sizes for entrees were large. We would have preferred smaller portions and lower prices.

We are out of towner regulars at 22 Broad Street. By far the BEST restaurant in Bethel/Newry. The food is consistent, always has interesting specials. I LOVE the Crispy Eggplant Lasagna. We ate there twice this past week so I also had the Chicken Piccata, my husband had the Chicken Marsala, yummy plus! Great wine and Martinis. I recommend the Neuvellum French Chardonay and my husband enjoys the Sidecar Martini. We ALWAYS request Pam Moody, as we have actually followed Pam from other establishments. She is the nicest person, super warm personality and makes you feel Special. Everyone at the restaurant is very nice and attentive, this is a MUST stop, you can't go wrong.

Went on Friday night 7:30 reservation. Hold over anniversary gift certificate from summer. Second year after recommendation from kids who went while skiing. A little early so sat at the bar and had martini specials which were excellent. Seated on time. Not very full for a Friday night but busy enough. Waiter was very good although he could have volunteered some explanations for the daily changes (soup du jour, ravioli du jour etc.) without waiting to see if were ordering it or asked. Only weak point was the bread and OO at the beginning. Sort of a caraway bread which is not either of our favorites. Passed on appetizers when the waiter mentioned that the portions were huge. Had excellent Caesar and Roasted Beet salads however. Mains were Mamas Gravy mixed meats on spaghetti with terrific marinara and Chicken Parm, immense chicken on spaghetti in same great sauce. Both excellent and waiter was right about portions:). Took some home to save room for dessert (an excellent and tastefully sized key lime pie) and coffee. Overall excellent food and service and reasonable enough that we still have half of the gift certificate left to go again soon.

This was my third visit to 22 Broad. As before, the food was very good, and on the pricey side, as expected. When we arrived, the noise level was very loud, but later it became more moderate. Our waitress was pleasant, took our orders, and when she asked if we wanted bread "while we wait", we said yes. The bread did not appear and we asked for it again. It was a long wait before it arrived and it came the same time as the salad. The waitress finally brought our meals, but then she disappeared. She never checked back with us to ask how our dinners were, or if we needed anything. We couldn't find her to ask for more bread or more water. When we saw her again, she cleared the plates and she admitted that she had given us very little attention and she was sorry. During our previous two visits, the wait staff was very competent and attentive..

A comment to the restaurant owner: If you want to donate money to an organization, DON'T add a small amount to every dish on your menu. Keep the costs as they were before you decided to be charitable and pay it out of your receipts, not your client's wallet. That's just tacky.

Always a great meal here with very good service. In the warm nights dining out on porch is great. I will note that the new arrangement of seating outside is awkward putting you too close to the next table, we prefer the old setup. Other than that minor annoyance the place is great

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel as the best in Bethel and it may well be. As we were only there for one night, we couldn't test that opinion. The restaurant is in a beautiful old house on the hill above the highway in the historic part of town. Parking was easy and free. The cocktails before dinner came promptly and were good. The food is primarily Italian and very good. Service was friendly and efficient and there was a decent selection of wines and beer. The cost was reasonable and we would certainly go there again if we were passing through the area!

There were four in our party and each ordered something different. Our waiter was attentive and professional. The wine list showed good variety at reasonable price levels. The appetizers were good, particularly the mussels. They were comparable to what one might find in a restaurant in Portland's demanding dining scene. The main courses were unremarkable, at best. Quantity was obviously considered more important than quality. The chicken parmesan included a large amount of too-dry chicken breast served on a bed of thick commercial pasta. A cut of good quality steak was cooked as ordered, but the rub described in the menu was barely, if at all, detectable. The risotto was prepared properly, but lacked any interesting flavors. The marinara sauce on a side order of pasta was bitter and appeared to lack spices or herbs. In our opinions, the main courses were not comparable to what one expects to find in Portland or Boston North End restaurants. We would have gladly paid more for smaller quantities of better quality.
