Our entire experience at 22 Bowen’s was amazing from start to finish. It was one of the best dining experiences of our lives. I let them know it was my husbands birthday and they gave us a perfect table with a beautiful view. Our server Joseph was absolutely wonderful and so personable. He was the perfect combination of attentive and low-key. He was seriously so great. Lastly, Joseph brought over a delicious cupcake to cap off our meal. We look forward to making our Newport trip a yearly tradition and 22 Bowen’s will be part of that!
Great view, food, service. I hope to return again this summer. Thank you!
Excellent service, great steaks
Service was excellent, food was delicious. We all enjoyed ourselves.
Best scallops I have ever had. Tender, cooked to perfection.
Food was amazing , service pleasure
A must visit if in Newport, especially if it is a special occasion. My husband and I seem to always go back to 22 Bowens when we are celebrating something in life. The food is phenomenal and the service is great. The ambiance is amazing during a sunny day but the interior is as great as the exterior if you get stuck on a cold, rainy Rhode Island day. Would recommend to anyone if you are looking for a nicer meal in Newport. (Favs include espresso martini; tuna tartare, Filet oscar; and the cheesecake!)
Great food. Swordfish was terrific. Cheesecake with black pepper was REALLY good
Enjoyed a lovely meal here during restaurant week. All three courses were thoroughly enjoyed! Will keep this on our list for sure!!
The location of Bowens 22 right on Bowens Wharf at the Newport Waterfront is just amazing. What a way to start the dinner experience. Great service. Nice drink and wine offerings. No question that the restaurant is pricey. But for a special night, it is worth it.
We had a beautiful dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff was so friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was quiet and romantic. It was just perfect for the type of night we were looking for.
The waitress was clear, supportive, and available. Steaks were great, bread was stale and Ceasar salad had little or no taste.
The only thing that we were disappointed in was we were seated on the outside deck on a 35 degree, rainy evening. It was heated and enclosed but still very cold. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were accommodated. We would have left if not seated inside. Fabio, our waiter, was awesome!
Wonderful food!!
Wait staff said the calamari was the best in New England - very possible she was right
Why ask if my reservation is a special occasion and then don’t acknowledge it. Tried to sit us directly by the stairway lotsa traffic. They did move us on request Food was good not great ! We had the tuna tartare which was good. We ordered the special dry aged steak which was cooked a bit to much for medium, so that was one. blemish of the night. Also they ask if there’s any dietary restrictions on reservation We had to reiterate. Don’t ask if you don’t read it! Our server was very good! Would try again maybe. There are so many restaurants in Newport so gonna try something new.
AC wasn’t working well upstairs. Steak was over cooked.
The food and the atmosphere were great. I thought the waiter was spread a little too thin.
It seemed to me that he had a hard time getting to everybody on a timely basis.
Service is always great. We ordered a special which was a Delmonico steak for 2. The middle slices were delicious-anything close to the edge was very fatty so we basically lost at least 2 of the pieces. For the price we paid I thought there should have been more meat. I usually order the filet mignon, which is always excellent. I should’ve stuck with that-I would’ve been much happier.
excellent as always - restaurant week was a great menu
Our server was a delight and they were super accommodating. They even managed to find us a hot chocolate when they usually don’t carry it. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. We ordered the curated filet and the half chicken. Super fresh and perfectly seasoned. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. 10/10 would recommend.
great meal, great friendly service. An amazing night out! Can't wait to go back
We were served by Zach and he was a delight! Great service and amazing food and wine. Very happy.
Great location and generous portions!
This a very nice place, everyone was very nice and accommodating. I got the Braised chicken with root vegetables and it was delicious!
Been to this restaurant quite a few times. Always a great meal.
Honestly felt treated poorly because i am not a big drinker. Menu was much much smaller than when previously we had gone. Our waiter Scott seemed to be bothered by us. No bread or water brought to the table when others all around us were brought. If i am paying 50 bucks a steak ala carte i expect some pretty dam good service. I would say the worse was the desert. I ordered Tres Leches Cake and they bring out this less than 2 inch by 2 inch piece of dry cake. My wife and i were dumbfounded. We love the building , the ambience but we left after dropping almost 150.00 dollars and were still hungry.
Food was delicious! Waiter was attentive. We enjoyed our dinner as usual.
We visited Bowens about 8 years ago - It was a great dinner then, and also a great dinner this past weekend. Food was excellent - service was excellent - would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great service, food and atmosphere as always. They always do a great job.
We had a very good experience and the food was great. We had bar seating and the server was awesome
Great food, went for our anniversary and were seated by the bathroom. Aside from a bad seat and slow service, the food was phenomenal.
Both the rack of lamb and steak ordered by my group came out over cooked. While they brought us new ones they seemed annoyed that we complained. We ordered medium rare yet the meat had no pink or very little. The food was okay but for the price I don't think the value was worth it compared to other restaurants in the area out of 10 I would give them a 6.
Awesome
Food awesome
Service !
First visit and very much enjoyed the dinner. Will go back.
My husband and I had dinner at 22 Bowens on a Wednesday evening in April— it was our first day of vacation, and we had booked a table one month in advance. We arrived about 15 minutes early, dressed for the evening. When we checked in with the host, I acknowledged that we were a bit early and offered to wait or have a drink at the bar if our table was not ready, but the host insisted we could be seated, and he instructed a staff member where to seat us.
When we settled into our seats, we looked around at several empty tables and realized we had been seated at the smallest table, which also happened to be the only table situated under the open landing of a staircase leading to the second floor. This meant that we were seated at eye-level with the shoes of every patron and employee clomping up and down the stairs and that whatever grime was being kicked up would become part of our meal. Despite our long-standing reservation, timely arrival, and appropriate dress, the host had relegated us to the worst seat in the house. We asked to be moved and we were accommodated.
Once we were settled at a new table, our server Chelsea redeemed our experience with her warm hospitality and friendly demeanor. We enjoyed some cocktails before dinner and shared a wonderful order of fresh, fried calamari. For dinner we each ordered a glass of Domaine Albert Bichot Pinot Noir and steak— the 10 oz. center-cut filet and the 16 oz. grass-fed ribeye— and we shared a (huge!) side of truffle mac the steaks were tastefully aged and each was cooked perfectly; the mac and the sprouts were plentiful and dressed with pomegranate seeds, but otherwise lacking in any discernible flavor. We passed on dessert, but I would have liked to try the coconut tres leches.
Overall, I want to thank Chelsea for reviving our entire experience. The host should take note.
Went here for my wife’s birthday. Such a great spot.
We had the calamari for appetizer. It was very good and different from the calamari we get in CT as it was served with banana peppers not marinara sauce.
Hands down the star of the show was the salmon special my wife ordered. It had an Indian style sauce served over a mushroom rice pilaf. It was probably the best Salmon we’ve ever had had.
Bravo 22 Bowens!
Bowen’s has been my go-to for years. The ambiance of the place combined with the location right on the wharf was one of a kind.
Now it feels like a hospital ward - sterile, and distant. Sitting at the bar was pitiful. Staring at a sheet of plexiglass? I’d rather be at home. Sitting at a table surrounded by plexiglass? It was silly, institutional and felt like I was in a bio-lab. Not a fine dining experience., more like a university mess hall. I will not return if this persists. You’ve de-valued the dining experience
birthday
very nice
Excellent experience !
