22 Bowens Wine Bar and Grille Ratings and Reviews
Was pleasantly surprised by the choices offered for a 3-course special. Chowder was superb; filet was cooked perfectly; dessert was delicious. Waiter was informative and attentive; manager greeted us and thanked us for our patronage. Would definitely recommend.
Bolognese should be removed from the menu. One of the worst i have ever seen at a restaurant. Like someone threw three different kinds of leftover pasta together with a heavy sausage vodka sauce. Looks and tastes disgusting
Steak was dry and unflavorful. Half cooked medium rare half cooked rare
Wine tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp
Sat in the wine room. Right next to lighted glass case that showed off a random display of items and shelves that hadn’t been cleaned in years
In Newport for the weekend! Second time visiting 22 Bowens. Dinner was delicious
once again. The oysters and tuna tarter to start off were great and the mains course porterhouse and filet was absolutely incredible.
Will definitely be back for our next Newport trip!
Leah was our waitress and she was lovely, fun and so helpful. The entire staff works so well together. The manager even went to the bar to get a drink for one of my dinner companions. We have been several times and have never been disappointed. It was my first time sitting on the second level. We had a table that seemed like it might be in a busy area, but it felt like we had our own special spot. We were a few minutes late for our reservation but I had called to let them know. We were treated kindly when we arrived and not made to feel guilty. I appreciated that very much. We were not rushed through our meal at all and ended up staying longer then we had originally planned. It was a perfect evening with my soul sistas.
The view is of Newport Harbor. The decor is nautical. The staff is efficient, charming, and unobtrusive. The atmosphere is “nice night out”—neither sloppy nor fussy. And the food! Too say it was better than I expected for the price would be true, but might suggest that I could have gotten a better steak for any price, which would be impossible, or that my companion could have enjoyed black sea bass more somewhere else, and I don’t think she could have.
Unfortunately the two meat dishes (both grass fed steak and veal) were tough and neither enjoyed. Other two meals salmon and tuna were very good. Both of the seafood dishes we asked for arugula with them and they added what equaled to the size of a quarter on top and we were expecting far more than that. While the manager appreciated our feedback (and said "that is how grass fed is") not much was done to insure our return. I'd say for the price... pay $4 more and get a steak that is edible and not chewy. While the view & location are great....best for cocktails and light fare as dinner was not really worth it and we dine out quite a bit. Staff was great as is the atmosphere and location.
The service is always top shelf. The menu changes on occasion and offers great a la carte items as well as full plates. The Appetizers are plentiful and will please everyone's palate. Located on the waterfront it offers not only a great view of private yachts, yachts for tours and one of the best people watching in Newport, although there are so many places to people watch.
We love to go to Bowen’s for a double birthday date. These guys always do their best to accommodate our wishes. The servers are great. We were not necessarily impressed with the food choices... and the meals were 4 Star. Just being honest. But we love it and will return for the 7th time next year.
The food and staff were great. Our server Fabio was very nice and knowledgeable. We got the cheese board, the 22b filet and another steak from the a la carte menu with a side of asparagus. We were given a complimentary dessert for our anniversary which was very thoughtful. I had a lot of the cheese board appetizer so I didn’t eat much of my main meal but it was very delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. I was very disappointed when I got home to find that the busser had thrown away all of my sides (mashed potato and green beans) and had only packed the filet. I was looking forward to eating the meal as dinner the next day because i had only had a few bites in the restaurant. I was very sad to see my 50$ meal had been mostly thrown away although im sure it was a mistake.
My husband and I dined here for NYE and the food did not disappoint, considering it was a really busy evening. They were also really great with accommodating special requests and dietary restrictions. We opted for their signature steak and a couple of the specials - lobster/squid ink linguine (amazing!!) and the halibut. Great food, atmosphere, and service!
We are huge steak fans and as such have eaten at other high end steakhouses before. I have to say I was slightly disappointed overall. The service was so so and the food was good but not amazing. I don't mind paying for a high end meal but I expect high end service and amazing food for the price. I feel like we did not receive either.
French onion soup was amazing. Entres of filet mignon and backed stuff lobster were great but $72 tag on the lobster was a bit much. Great atmosphere for this birthday dinner. Highly recommend the carrot cake for desert. Service was impeccable. 22B is one of my favorites.
