Have dined several times here over the last few months, and it is becoming a favorite in Old Town Alexndria. Attentive service and super food!

Valentines dinner with my wife. They offered a 3 course meal with options. We had the salad with beets and beef filet with Brussel Sprouts, mushrooms and potatoes. Everything was great! Our compliments to the waiter staff and chef! We will return to try the other dishes.
If I could give more than 5 stars for the service I would! Eva ws wonderful! Attentive and enthusiastic!! It was a wonderful experience!
We had quite an enjoyable time at 219! We went this past Sunday for brunch. We ordered the shrimp & grits and the blackened salmon at the suggestion of our waitress - Eva the Diva. :) She was an uncommonly friendly & inviting host. She was SUCH a warm and personable presence & makes an awesome team member especially at a place that seems to be intended to exude southern charm. And if that’s indeed the case, Eva is steeped in it! The beignets were excellent. They were light & airy with just the right amount of sweetness as they’re supposed to be. I found the collards that accompanied the salmon to be a smidge too vinegary, acidic for my particular taste but they were still good. The salmon was excellent at a perfect medium rare. And the dirty rice was a great addition for the entree. My guest enjoyed the shrimp & grits although I noted that I’d have liked more shrimp & grits with less sauce/broth. Our entrees came with a complimentary Bellini & it was well-made. Keep at it, 219. We enjoyed ourselves. And Eva, don’t change a thing about yourself! We’ll be returning.

The food was excellent! I had the Salmon and it was cooked perfectly and flavorful. The staff is extremely friendly and will take care of your every need for a wonderful experience.

The food was delicious however there were two other parties in the room so we found ourselves screaming to talk. Our waitress although sassy and fun was very slow; she messed up checks even though she gave us all a number; she forgot to bring change.
Came here for brunch and just loved it. The staff was thorough without getting too involved, and the food was perfect. We loved the beignets! Although we were clearly the first customers for the day, everyone was ready to go and we never got that awkward feeling that sometimes comes with being the only patrons. On another note, I found the decor to be absolutely lovely and romantic. It felt like sitting in a New Orleans restaurant.
Incredible food and even better service. New Years eve dinner was worth wonderful. Highly recommended.

Superb spot for Saturday/Sunday brunch. Menu has a heavy New Orleans Creole influence but has a few touches from the Chesapeake Bay mixed in. Menu choices were not extensive but balanced well so that there would be something that would appeal to anybody. Food was well prepared and not overly rich or spicy. Attentive and friendly service. Fireplaces in the dining room were crackling and were most welcome on a bitterly cold day.
Everything was very nice except my mother wanted the fried chicken & the waiter said you were out if it. She was NOT happy about that if you DON'T have an item then remove it from the menu !! Other than that everything was fine.
For Christmas dinner, 219 was chosen for its old-fashioned, quiet elegance. An added bonus was being seated in front of the roaring fire! The food was overall good, with attractive, delicious appetizers to start off the meal. All aspects of the pork dish were quite good. The tenderloin was a large, perfectly cooked portion, but it was served with unevenly cooked potatoes and carrots that hadn't picked up much of the sauce flavor. One of the plates arrived cold with the top piece of tenderloin slightly discolored. My guess was that it possibly sat under the heat lamp awaiting the other entrees. The desserts were only so-so. Fortunately the service and the atmosphere made up for any small shortcomings on the plate.

This is definitely a restaurant deserving of recommendations and a return visit.
The food was quite good. My wife got the salmon which was excellent. I got the jambalaya which was good. Our service was a little below expectations, especially for such a quiet night (only 4 tables occupied). And the restaurant interior seems a little dated. The food was the highlight and I think the chef did a great job. It was the other stuff that made it just an average experience when it could have been excellent.
Visited for husband's 40th. Planned to do dinner before hearing the band upstairs. Definitely recommend the upstairs for music and bar. Dining room experience not as enjoyable. But, love the upstairs. Also like the basement, although we did not visit on this particualr occasion.

We three all had the Thanksgiving prix fixe, but with three different entrees. All had the beggars purse starter and agreed it was delicious, with a great sauce. I then had the turkey which must have been brined and was very tender if a tad too salty, but the oyster stuffing(one oyster!) was dry. One of us had the salmon and the other the steak and declared themselves pleased. The desserts were both too sweet.
Gratuity automatically added was 20%, no choice given, which we all resented as policy.
Meh. Pork belly was quite obviously spoiled. My husband had to spit it out it was so bad. They are trying hard but I worry about the cleanliness there.
My husband and I came for brunch. We started with beignets and coffee, which were lovely, while we waited for our entrees to be prepared. I had the shrimp and grits and Randy had an omelette. Both were delicious. We also very much enjoyed our complimentary mimosas. I have every intention to return with friends or next time we have visitors in town.

Quaint dining experience with friends. Enjoyed sitting by the fire after a cold afternoon shopping with views of the street with a great meal. Our waiter made us special request drinks too! Afterwards we went upstairs and enjoyed the sounds of Dead Cat Bounce, a jazzy, rhythmic & blues band play. Good times! We will definitely visit again.

We were four old friends. Our table was next to the fireplace which was nice and not to hot. The bartender was very professional and made on the best Manhattans that i have ever had. The strip and grits was outstanding.
