The restaurant was beautiful and we were lucky to be able to sit in the bar area, which was decorated beautifully. The fireplaces were turned on, which added to the cozy and fun atmosphere. The food was delicious and we had a great time. We’ve eaten at this restaurant for close to 25 years and have never had a bad experience. We were happy to be able to spend Thanksgiving in a spectacular location.
Good times. Good drinks and good food!! Great place!
Service was slower than expected like other restaurants since pandemic . After eating we went upstairs to the live music and saw our server behind the bar. He had been going back and forth all night. Explains why the lag Recommend one more bartender upstairs. 3 behind the bar at all times. It was still great! I will be back
Saw a mouse running around in the restaurant.waiter made a joke. Not funny. Will never eat there again
Thank you for dining with us. We are sorry you had this experience while dining outside on our Patio. We maintain our restaurant diligently, but the outdoors is challenging as the weather gets colder and Mother Nature takes over. We of course do not think it was funny and our staff is now aware to be more sensitive to our guests while they are dining with us.
I believe the bartender/server's name was Tommy. He was the absolute best. Friendly, professional, polite, and makes one heck of a dirty martini. Outstanding food and service. Proper recipe for date night.
We had such a lovely time at 219. A friend chose this for her birthday dinner, and all four of us vowed to go back again soon. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. I had the blackened salmon and ordered it medium; it came exactly as ordered and melted in my mouth. The pork belly and chicken wing appetizers are worth it, don’t miss them. The cornmeal crusted and fried oysters also were delectable and done just right. One friend had the gumbo, which had a rich, deep taste.
What impressed us the most was the time and attention of the host and owner. Clearly, like many restaurants at this time, 219 is short-handed for waitstaff. But that was just observation. We wanted for nothing between the owner and the host. They were so attentive to our needs as well as those of the very large party also on the patio. We all were so impressed with this. Their attention to service and quality was incredible and we were so impressed and appreciative. Thank you, 219, for making my friend’s birthday and our evening such a memorable experience. We’ll be back soon!
I had a wonderful experience at 219 Restaurant. My reservation was a little too early to enjoy the live music, but I will definitely be back for that.
Our dinner was a wonderful experience and highly recommend eating there to everyone that enjoys very good food.
Very limited dinner menu - some items one I not available for dinner. Gumbo and jambalaya were good, Black Forest cake dessert was a bit stale.
I felt like I was having dinner back in New Orleans
Amazing service. And owners are always so welcoming and nice!
Service is always fantastic thank you! The only con is that even the outdoor patio has smoke smell and even early in evening. Perhaps fans would help w avoiding the smoke smell outdoors. Thank you.
Delicious food and great location on the 200 block of King Street in Old Town.
The room takes you right to old New Orleans.
Food was wonderful! The she crab soup and shrimp and grits were terrific
219 Restaurant has great food for the money, the service takes a little longer than usual but once you get your meal the wait-staff is great!
Terrible management!!! The food wasn’t that great as well and the service is very slow.
The Live music is the best night out experience.
Great food, sat outside and listened to a young man who was a wonderful guitar player. Server was great too. One of the best fried chickens I ever had, everyone seemed to love theirs too including etoufee and shrimp and grits.
Food was nothing to rave about. Good selection of whiskey and cigars in the upstairs lounge. Had the Jambalaya and it was average. Fried oysters were a good starter. Overall an average place with good service.
Wonderful staff, great food. Perfect place to meet, greet and entertain!
It has been a few years since I last dined at this place. Last night when I went to the restaurant I was shocked to see that it was under new management. The ambiance had changed. The food was not the same. The menu was different. Restaurant 219 was known for a very long time as serving the best authentic New Orleans cuisine in the area. I’m afraid to say that the food doesn’t even come close to it. Even the glass of wine that I ordered, Pinot Grigio, was not that great. I love that wine. I know how it should taste. The glass of wine I had last night was not good. I suggest that the new management step up their game or they may find themselves out of business.
Hadn’t been to 219 since Covid and had a lovely meal of salmon and a huge Bavarian pretzel asan appetizer. Our waitress was busy but very nice and attentive.
The Restaurant was good. We were a little upset about not being able to go upstairs t enjoy the music. It was first of all to crowded w/ covid-19 still being in the picture. I don't know why they would book a Wedding Party there for private party on a Saturday night.
Although the restaurant was short staffed the service was still great.
Delicious dinner and a great staff. Interesting mix on the menu, all of our meals and appetizers were excellent. The staff is super friendly.
Four of us shared a few apps and sides and they were all delicious. Our server was friendly and efficient.
Early dinner during Alexandria’s Restaurant Week. The service was great and our waitress was attentive. It was early (like 4ish), so we were the only guests in the area by the bar. The food was good and tasty. No complaints, will come again!
One of my favorite restaurants in Old Town. I highly recommend and go there often
Food was not great
Shrimp and grits was warm didn’t feel fresh
I love this restaurant. Great food, great service, great environment. I've been several times and will be back again.
This was our first visit to 219 and, for context, it was an early dinner during Alexandria Restaurant Week. Because of the weather, we choose to sit inside. Our first table was near the entrance and smelled strongly of cigar smoke, and were graciously reseated close the front windows - a great improvement. It's a small room so the noise level was fairly high but not unbearable. Before I complain, let me say the food was delicious. Because it was Restaurant Week, we had a choice of the She Crab Soup or a salad. Even though it was only 6pm, they were out of the She Crab Soup. They substituted gumbo, but that's not the same. When we finished dining, they brought the check; never asked if we wanted coffee or desert. My summary would be, it was good, but with all the other excellent restaurants in the area, not sure I'd try it again.
We were celebrating my friend’s professional milestone and decided to take advantage of the Restaurant Week menu. We had a fabulous experience from the food to the service. Thank you.
Our experience was great. It was the first night of Old Town Restaurant Week. The specials were fantastic.
Awesome ambience and really good food.
Great food, great vibes, great drinks!
Arrived at the restaurant and was seated with no wait (Had a reservation). Jimmy (the waiter) immediately greeted us at the table with our menu. He returned with water and took our order. The appetizer (She Crab Soup) came out within 6 minutes after ordering, followed by the entree (jambalaya), which came out about about 12 minutes after the appetizer. Food came out very fast, was very hot and delicious. Ambience of the restaurant was very serene (jazz and blues music playing). Great service. Great food. Great ambiance.
A few menu items were very good, but most of it was underwhelming.
Room to the right of the front door smells of cigar smoke from the cigar room upstairs
Good and service was great. Ambiance the cigar lounge is nice. I also enjoyed the live band.
