Came for dinner on Valentine’s Day and enjoyed the $35 prix fixe menu. The bacon encrusted filet mignon and Jamaican salmon were incredible. We also had the fried oysters off the regular menu - they were the best we’ve ever had. Our waiter Jimmy was awesome and attentive! Can’t wait to go back!
A tasty classic club sandwich and the best she crab soup I have had in a while. It was loaded with crab meat and a strong hint of sherry added ..... in a large bowl and piping hot - delicious...
The fries were very crispy with a light seasoning of salt ......good meal on a cold afternoon.
I selected this restaurant because it was near the Chrysler for a play I was going to.The service, Food, and availability for the time I wanted was good. I would recommend this for others looking for a good restaurant before attending a Scope or Chrysler event. THey understand that you have a limited time and that getting you in and out with a 600 reservation should give you plenty of time to make a 730 event.
Made reservations at 6pm, in order to attend a show at the Wells. Food order was lost and dinner arrived at 7:05. After a few bites, dinner was boxed and rushed to the car. The manager apologized and offered assistance with the check which also failed to happen.
Over a $100 later and we will not return.
We got there at 940 am and the bartender was very rude. She informed us that the restaurant was still closed and will opens at 10 am. She slammed the door. She stated this comment with attitude. We had two small children with us and the weather was cold. We had reservation, which we told her. We left to go sit in the car. After it was 10 am we came back, they never ask us our name for reservations, sat us down. The bartender continued to give us dirty looks from the bar. The manager then came to our table and remove the Santa Claus that was for us to sell it for another customer from our table. He never said excuse. The customer himself felt embarrassed and said I’m so sorry. We thought that was rude. My mother in law was looking at it at the time. This restaurant needs to teach it staff, including it manager manners. Then I got an email saying that I never showed up to my reservations. Maybe if they gave their customers less attitude and more attention, ask their names, they would have known that we did show up. I had to call the customer service line to say that we did show up. What a disappointment.
We normally enjoy 219, which was why we chose it for our Thanksgiving dinner. But we had really poor service. It took over 30 minutes to get our food, which was from a pre-set menu for the holiday. We were not offered bread or anything while waiting for our meal. After we finished eating it took a long time for anyone to come and collect our plates. Then it took over 30 more minutes for someone to bring our dessert (also from pre-set menu)...and in fact we had to ask another waitress to please check and see why it was taking so long. Our waitress seemed to avoid walking past our table (which was adjacent to the bar) and we went very long stretches without seeing her. We will probably eat here again, but not for Thanksgiving.
Had a reservation. Was seated right next to door with constant cold draft- so I had to wear coat during dinner. Ordered crab salad that was supposed to have spicy aioli. It was not spicy - but rather sickening sweet. Husbands fish was bland. Waitress was annoyingly at our table constantly and trying to take plates etc— even when we were not done. Felt she was pushing us out door. Will not be returning
The restaurant smelled a little must I assume they had flooding last year after the storms. All the food looked great and we oogled plates as they were brought to other tables. Our food we unfortunately overcooked I had grilled cod and my husband had the steak. They took a drink off the tab as compensation for our meals. I'm not itching to go back but I would give it another shot if in the area.
We were greeted by our server shortly after being seated. We ordered bloody Marys from the make-it-yourself bar, which is always fun. After our Eggs Benedict's were delivered to our table, our server asked if we would need anything else. We asked for silverware and napkins. We then had to wait for approximately 10 minutes since it kept being forgotten. If we had ordered salads or a cold sandwich, this might not have been concerning. But cold Hollandaise sauce along with the eggs and O'Brien home fries not being hot and fresh, kept what could have been a delicious meal to become subpar. Another recommendation would be to make sure the poached eggs are still on the runny side unless the diner request otherwise. As a child, Eggs Benedict is one of the first meals I learned how to cook. Poached eggs should always be served with just the whites firm not the yoke. I have dined several times at 219. This is not your typical dining experience. Normally everything is right on target. Maybe if the hostess would have delivered the silverware while seating the table this would have been all together a different take on a meal. Will certainly keep entertaining at 219 since one mediocre experience should never discourage one from a return visit.
Amazing! My husband and I celebrated my birthday there recently-we enjoyed cocktails, apps, and the restaurant week tasting menu. Highlights included awesome beet and goat cheese salad, their house Moscow mule, and ribeye oscar. Prices were moderate, but totally worth every penny.
I was meeting friends. The staff at 219 was patient as our group arrived one at time. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The food came out in good time and was delicious. We all took the server's recommendation for her favorite dessert and it was as good as she said it told be.
Even as the restaurant filled up it wasn't so loud we couldn't have conversation.
I would recommend 219 any time you're in Norfolk.
Went here for Brunch last Sunday with the whole family which included a 5 year old. Our sailor son is stationed in Norfolk. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. Brunch was awesome with $3 mimosas and Bloody Mary bar. Plenty of options and and a full kids menu. Service was On Point!
A good friend raves about the brunch so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Denver omelette. The portion was more than adequate however the egg lacked flavor. I ordered it with pepper jack cheese and it still lacked flavor. The potatoes were crisp and tasty. $5.00 Mimosas. I would go again and try something else.
We enjoyed our meals for 4 people. We went for Brunch. I had the chicken biscuit with the fried egg bacon and gravy. It was good but egg was over cooked. Others had poor mans breakfast, French toast, and spinach egg stack. All enjoyed with no issues. Waitress was nice.
Order mimosa and was brought a glass of champagne, no juice. Our food order was missing a side item. Slow service. It was Father's Day and they were crowded. The bartender fixed up my drink and the missing side item did arrive. They do have a little Bloody Mary bar - which was the whole reason for the visit because my husband loves his Bloody Mary!
It has been over a year since we were last at this restaurant as we do not live in Norfolk. We were attending a 7pm show in Norfolk and made reservations for 5:45. We were promptly seated and Kelly, our server was very efficient. The tomatoe slices for the caprese were hard as if not yet ripe. The fondue was very salty for our taste, as was the pan fried grouper over lobster risotto. We would have returned the meals if it were not for the time before our show. We will try the place again as every chef has a bad night, but cannot recommend to a friend until we do.
It was ok. The fried green tomatoes and fried calamari were delicious. My husband had the flounder and I had the salmon...salmon was salty. I requested on my reservation under "special request" to congratulate my husband for his birthday...it didn't happen. Btw, They don't offer anything special for birthdays, I asked. We were not even offered what they had for dessert as an option. Our waiter was "ok"...first time for us there andhe didn't give us any recommentadions or favorites from the menu. Bathrooms are tiny. I don't think we'd come back.
Went for Tuesday prime rib special. Two orders for medium were done medium well. Two orders for medium rare were both done medium on medium well side. That said, the flavor was very good and we will try it again.
Also Happy Hour prices are only good at the bar, not in the dining area as is the case at many other restaurants.
We went for a pre-concert dinner. Our table was ready and we were seated immediately. It was still early and it was quiet and not crowded yet. Our server was efficient, friendly and attentive. I had the seared tuna. It was supposed to come with crab meat and avocado salad. The salad influenced my choice. There was no avocado. When I asked the server went to the chef and was told the avocado wasn't ripe. She offered to bring something else. I would have liked to know before I ordered. That said I really enjoyed the tina and the side sauce that accompanied it. My husband had the special which was London Broil. It was tender and juicy and he enjoyed the meal. The coffee was really good; an important part of the meal for us. We also shared a mousse desert. It was lovely and plenty for two the restaurant has a nice wine list with a number by the glass. All in all a good meal, pleasant atmosphere, and good service.
Wonderful evening prior to the theater. We usually don't eat at 6pm but needed to make an 8pm performance and I was anxious about the timeline. The restaurant asked whether we were going to a show upon our arrival and it became apparent they would get us out on time.
The food and drinks are excellent and the waitstaff very attentive. I calmed down immediately possibly from the cocktails but more so from their attention . Do yourself a favor and have dessert they are fabulous, you might want to have it first! We will return.
