We were staying at the Hilton for a concert we were attending at the Amalie. Since it was Valentine's Day and most restaurants in the area were booked, we decided to have dinner at 211. We were very pleased, to say the least!!! We had the option of selecting either from a price-fixed menu or regular menu and as difficult a decision it was, we decided on the price-fixed menu. The meal was excellent, although it could have been delivered a bit more "temperature" hot than it was received, but the flavors were definitely there and it was very apparent that the chef took great lengths in preparing a meal for the guests that would be memorable. We dined there again for breakfast the next morning and again, 211 did not disappoint. Fresh ingredients and tons of flavor.
This is not your typical hotel restaurant. The quality of the food was about as good as it gets and the service was great. The restaurant appears to be recently renovated and done extremely well. There were six of us having dinner on New Years Eve and everyone raved about their dinners. Everything from the mac and cheese to the New York strip were done perfectly. Their gnocchi was light and as good as we've had (and we grew up in New York) and their New Years Eve shrimp special was probably the tastiest shrimp dish we've ever eaten and we lived in Houston for nearly 30 years.
Restaurant was fine and server was very good but server had WAY too many tables for a weekend. Poor planning or manager did not bother to step in for any call-offs.
Also - shame on open table for NOT hiding restaurants that are NOT open at the time I am searching. HUGE waste of time on my part. Search engine should ELIMINATE restaurants not open during the time I am searching for. FIX IT.
Fits the mold of hotel restaurant. Service was a little slower than expected but overall the food was good and atmosphere great for having a conversation. Online menu didn't match the actual menu and there were no vegetarian options on the main menu. The chef did put together a vegetable plate upon request.
We usually go out instead of having dinner at the hotel restaurant but we were tired and decided to take our chances. We were so happy that we did! Our server Mark was superb, the service was outstanding and the food was excellent and really fresh. Everything that we ordered was delicious. We will definitely go back to this restaurant even if we are not staying at the Hilton. It is a hidden gem
My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Downtown Tampa for our wedding anniversary. After researching several restaurants in the area, I found that one of the best-reviewed, elegant dining restaurants was right in our hotel at the 211. We enjoyed a few cocktails in the adjacent lounge before dinner. The specialty drinks were outstanding. My wife especially enjoyed the Cosmo.
The atmosphere at both the 211 lounge and restaurant is modern chic. Very tastefully done and relaxing. The evening we dined, there were only four other tables occupied in the restaurant. We began with the lobster and lump crab cake which was well cooked and presented. It was served with a succotash, but it also contained some raw red onions, which I love, but if it's a first or early date in your relationship, probably would consider avoiding. For entrees, my wife had the Salmon Filet with parmesan risotto, arugula fennel salad, and lemon caper jus. I had the catch of day (choice of swordfish or red snapper - I elected the red snapper) with sweet pea risotto, jalapeño pesto, and seasonal vegetables (asparagus and carrots this evening). Both entrees included large portions of fish, perfectly cooked, as was the risotto.
For dessert, the chef made an "off menu" item for us since it was our anniversary. It was a fried donut, topped with a caramel drizzle, vanilla bean ice cream and a white and milk chocolate straw as best I can recollect. It was delicious as well and we had a nice surprise when the chef came to our table to congratulate us on our anniversary.
The service was outstanding. Our waiter, I believe his name is "Shay" or a similar sounding name (my apologies, you were great). A young man of Jamaican descent who was a student at USF. We both were delighted with our dining experience at the 211 and will return in the future!
We were looking for a place with a nice dinner menu before an 8PM event at Amelie Arena. We did not want to eat at the arena, as the food is awful and VERY expensive. At 211 we had two excellent meals before two different events. The 211 is about a 10 minute walk from the arena. Excellent service and a good selection. We had salmon, grouper and snapper--all were very good.
We dined here on New Years Eve because we were staying at the hotel. We have to little kids and they have kids menu, booster seats and high chairs. Our server Daniel was very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, from the tuna tartare we had as a starter to the main course (perfect steak and filet mignon) and dessert (delicious chocolate cake and crème brûlée).
A group from our office has been going to the buffet once a month for years because we liked it so much. The new buffet is even better than before! We splurged and had desserts this week, and they were so decadent. And now that the renovations are done, the whole floor is much more inviting and pleasant. I've enjoyed a couple of happy hours as well, and although the wine selection is good, the finger food could be brought up to a higher level. Overall, I rate 211 as outstanding.
My fiance and I went on Valentines day. Food was fantastic, wine list was great as well. Our server was not very schooled on the food, wine, menu in general, almost felt like it was his first day or something. He forgot to bring my last glass of wine, but I was not charged with it so no big deal. I will return, specifically for the food and the ambiance. Prices weren't bad at all either.
We had a wonderful leisurely Valentine's day dinner with interesting pours of wine with each dish. My Grouper with Prawns was yummy and my husband's Filet Mignon was incredibly tender. The great thing about the meal was that each dish was petite in size so that you savored the taste and had room for the next dish. Our primary server was bubbly and attentive without being intrusive. Her colleagues kept a careful eye on our table and would quietly, swiftly, and unobtrusively appear to refill our water glasses or replenish the hot fresh bread. The restaurant atmosphere was romantic and unbelievably quiet.
This is only a $$ restaurant in the Hilton Hotel. The service was outstanding. The menu threw me off. They gave us two menus, one had very limited, but expensive $30+ items. The other menu was the drink menu which also had small plates and sandwiches, not what I expected. My wife ordered the Grouper Slider and asked to hold the bread, it also came with a side-salad which she was very happy with. I ordered the Yellow-Tail Snapper, which is hard to find in a restaurant outside the Keys. It was excellent.
