211 Clover Lane Restaurant
Great experience. Our server was so nice and professional. Had drink in bar with bartender James and he is the best! Food delicious I had the shrimp and grits. Wed night is 1/2 price bottles of wine!
Food was very good but service was bad. They had a large group and our server was in the other room most of the time. We were served by the young man in charge of refreshing water and serving bread. Had to ask when our appetizer was going to arrive.
211 clover lane never disappoints.
Everything about the evening was wonderful. Only issue is that my second glass of white wine was room temperature but waitress resolved it by chilling bottle in ice bath and returning with proper temp wine a bit later.
Delicious halibut and filet mignon, potato leek soup, and pot de creme. Average to poor service (not knowledgeable about wine or menu).
We stood for nearly ten minutes before being greeted/seated. After that overall the service was fairly slow, though decent and polite. The food was also excellent though portions seemed small for the price. I would recommend giving this place a shot, but not to have too high of expectations
Our server made a minor mistake on our order. He apologized profusely. The restaurant comped our drinks and gave us a gift certificate for our next visit. He did this even though we told him it was no big deal and we requested nothing. What great customer service. Will definitely be back. Food was great.
I so much looked forward to a visit to Clover Lane. I recommended it to a group of gal friends as a place to enjoy a girl's day lunch experience after it was highly recommended by a friend. We were however, terribly disappointed with our meal and service. Please see the events leading to our disappointment.
1. We expressed a desire to eat outside but were told the flies would be a problem. We later saw white table cloths put out for other diners.
2. A friend asked for water no lemon. It was replaced with a plain glass of water no ice.
3. Two of 2 bacon sandwiches had burned crust. One was sent back and the replacement was acceptable.
4. Two Chicken Salad plates were clearly of different portions (one very generous, one very skimpy) amounts. When they were sent back to the kitchen a person from the kitchen brought them back and said they were the same (in a gruff manner). No change was made to the portions.
5. When asked about the soup of the day on the menu they said they had no soup (this was at 11;30 a.m.)
6. I had asked if a salad dressing came with the salad greens. The young lady said she would check on that but never came back with any.
As you can imagine I could never recommend Clover Lane to anyone.
Server seemed overwhelmed, we waited too long. Expected larger slice of pie for $10.
Great food - great times never anything to complain about
Awesome once again!
Went there for a birthday and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. Very eager to please, food was exceptional, wine was great - they ensured I was happy with my selection. Will definitely make this a regular visit!
Had a very nice time as usual. Service not up to their usual standard. A woman brought in a 5 or 6
year old child who was very very disruptive to everyone some guests even asked to be moved. No
place for a child for evening meal.
This place is the best. Been going her for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Fabulous service, ambiance and food. The bar is also fantastic, and Kevin, the bartender, is a divine alchemist!! Wonderful select of wines and spirits. Enjoyed an awesome bourbon tasting!
It was closed with no warning.. had planned class reunion
Absolutely great experience. Took my 3 boys to dinner and had 3 incredible filets! This place has so much class and is a hidden treasure.
The service when we first arrived was suspect - no one at the front desk - and then when seated, a long wait for attention - water, menu, drink order, etc. - the bread serving was cold and old. Another wait person became involved and turned it all around - everything went fine from there on. Food was fantastic and the remainder of the meal was uneventful ...did get comped for the coffee......
Will definitely return.
Best Restaurant in Louisville! Katie makes it even better👍🏼😍
Food was good but the service and ambience is great. Perfect place to meet friends and be able to talk
Wonderful food and beverages. The Halibut was fantastic and our friends who each had the steak offerings were very happy.
Our service was a bit slow though we were seated as soon as the restaurant opened. Our server was extremely pleasant however.
Other than that, Mr. Smith has a wonderful establishment.
What a disappointment! I've been eating here occasionally for years but I watched it go down and it's now hit a new low.
I took a friend for lunch today to celebrate her birthday - this has been a favorite restaurant of hers for years and she used to eat here often. Not only was the serving abysmal, but the food was very poor. We both ordered the trout, thinking we'd have our "big meal" at lunch and something light for dinner tonight at home. I've had this before, but this time it was awful. The fish was "fishy", it was oily, there were no lemon slices under it as their usually are, no lemon was served on the side, and it was tasteless except for that awful oily taste which will linger for hours.
One small stale piece of french bread was give to each of us. No dipping oil or butter was served. We asked for butter (when we could finally get the attention of the long-time waiter who appeared would have preferred being anywhere on earth than working that day). We finally got the butter after a 5 minute wait. The restaurant was nearly empty but there was a private party in the party room, so all their wait staff wass there.
We order the creme brûlée for dessert and the waiter did not bring my friend a spoon - she had to eat it with her fork as we could not get his attention.
Andrew (the owner) used to take such pride in this restaurant and it was well-deserved. I never see him there anymore and it always appears as if no one is in charge.
It was an expensive lunch and such poor quality. We will be looking for a new place to have our regular lunches. I will not go back.
211 was the perfect choice for an Anniversary celebration; diamond service!
My favorite server did her usual great job even over the power was out!
Great friendly and helpful staff and the food was amazing. We will definitely return.
My mom treated me to my birthday on Sunday. As always, the trout was delicious! Terry makes it even more special! Thank you for a memorable day! 😊
Every year we visit 211 for our anniversary, and every year we are thrilled that we do!
I grew up in Louisville and was celebrating lunch with friends and family. 211 Clover was my pick! Food, ambiance, and service top notch! One suggestion is to have better stock of wine they were out of 3 types we ordered as well as the soup or the day.
Halibut and Fried Green Tomatoes are excellent!
We arrived 10 minutes early. Upon arrival we said we knew we were early and we would wait in the lounge for our reservations time and the rest of our party. The maître d’ acted like he did know anyone had reservations. Oh he was our waiter also. The restaurant had a very musty smell. Once were seated ourselves a young man put one slice of stale bread on each person plate. Never to return. The waiter came in to take our order and announced “we have no soup today”, his announcement was very abrupt. I ordered the Salmon, it was very dry. I notice they had forgot the sauce. The waiter said they didn’t have it, asked if he could suggest a different sauce because the salmon was so dry. He brought a mustard vinegar something that was terrible and finally the sauce they put on the trout. One of the other ladies had the chicken that was dry also. One the chicken salad and the spring mix tasted old. The other two had the trout but left still hungry. The only nice thing was the small room with a round table and we were able to have nice conversation. I live in Michigan and was visiting family in Louisville. My cousin suggested this place so I am sure this is not your normal service or food. We were very disappointed.
Dinner with friends, her birthday. Great wine great food and great service. Had a real good time.
As always, 211 Clover Lane was fabulous! Service is outstanding and the food delicious! My go to restaurant for a great meal and dining experience.
I miss the Chocolate Brulee. I want it back!!! My sister and I come there every month or more, and we miss the C. Brulee.
We had a 6 PM reservation and were looking forward to our first time at the restaurant. Over all the visit was good not great. Service was ahead of the food. Really didn’t think the food matched the price. The carpet and paint needed touching up. My entree was good . Mushroom sauce with a tubular pasta just right for the sauce to cling to. Bread was good but instead of giving a slice I’d expect a basket on the table. Salad was great. Desert was a piece of almond cake that the edges were stale. We had two scoops of a what was supposed to be a fresh peach ice cream that really had the taste of vanilla. A few adjustments and the restaurant could be great.
211 Clover Lane is located in a somewhat scruffy area adjacent to an active railroad track but the atmosphere of the restaurant is quiet and elegant. Food and service are first class, as is reflected in the price, which is still a bargain by international standards.
Outstanding food. Outstanding service. Beautiful surroundings. Louisville at its best, and a St. Matthews neighborhood charmer. Popular with the neighborhood.
Poor service, very limited salad dressings (2)
This is one of my favorite places and, as usual, the food was wonderful. I had the trout which was beautifully prepared with just the right amount of crispness. The service was impeccable without being intrusive. Our table was in front of french doors overlooking the garden, adding to the ambience. Wines are reasonally priced in comparison with other restaurants. Thumbs up to the staff for another great evening.
Quality food and service. Great staff. Half-priced wine night is our go-to.
Great place for quiet conversation in an elegant setting with excellent food.
211 Clover Lane is one of our favorite Louisville restaurants. The food and service is consistently good. It’s also a great place to go if you want a quiet atmosphere.
