Amazing food, Amazing service, and Amazing ambiance. We we're celebrating my partner's birthday and im glad I made the choice to visit here. They even brought him a special slice of cake to celebrate. High recommended.
We had a window table with a great view. Would recommend 21 Oceanfront to all my friends.
This was amazing night! The view was amazing, the food was great and the service was excellent! The was a musician playing a guitar, which topped off the night. I would say this is my go to dinner date night, my date absolutely loved it. I would recommend this place any night of the week!
An outstanding restaurant. Excellent cuisine, Phenomenal service
We dined on a Saturday evening. The dining room was quite noisy. Service was impeccable. Zack was our main waitperson. Food was prepared as requested. For example, we requested the salmon be blackoned. While it was not on the menu as an option, it was prepared as we wanted.
We took our two year old and seven month old granddaughters with us and the staff was very accommodating. From the time we walked through the door until we walked back out was an amazing experience. Great location to watch the sunset over the ocean. Food is tremendous. We’ve been there as a couple, with our grown children and now our grandchildren and it’s always above expectations.
Just as I remembered! Delicious, excellent meal, lovely live music. Gotta go here every time we’re in Newport.
The Lobster was probably the best Ive ever had. Our waiter was amazing!
The food was some of the best we've had and the view of the sunset was amazing. The prices are high, but not unexpected for a restaurant of this quality.
Heard wonderful things about 21 Oceanfront. It was fabulous! Old World charm, great food and outstanding service!
We enjoyed our meal, and especially enjoyed the view. Lovely, quiet dining room (yes, it has a dated appearance, but we found it charming). We were staying in a nearby cottage, so we thought this one of the better options within walking distance...which was a high priority for us (once you settle in for your vacation, using the car is a bit of a drag). We would echo what many have said in other reviews: the food is good, but you are paying prices that suggest the food should be great/special...but if you keep in mind that all the food in the area is overpriced (tourist area, and all establishments are perched on prime real estate), then everything comes into alignment. I'd return here the next time we vacation along the beach.
Friendly thoughtful service. Delicious food.
The service was great! the waitress really made the night enjoyable. The food was pricey but good not bad, not great but good. Location is easy to find
Very nice place to eat. Food and service were excellent. Beautiful view of the sunset. Will eat there again.
We went there to celebrate our birthdays and we would not want to go back there ever again. They sat us down an area where the light from the sun at sunset caused extremely discomfort to our eyes. We asked them not to pull up the shade until later but they refused. They told us to endure for 8 minutes so everyone else could enjoy watching the sunset. They took forever to change our seating area. Plus, when other came for their birthdays, the restaurant would give them cake as birthday special, we got nothing. we were treated unfairly, racial discrimination. We are very disappointed.
Just a lovely view of the sunset. Our server Mr. Helton was terrific. Such a lovely atmosphere. The food is terrific.
Had a wonderful evening here again. I had NY strip, cooked to perfection, my wife had the Sea Bass and she loved it. Fernando was our waiter and he let us take our time and made sure we were well taken care of.
We have to come to OC 4-5 times a year and last 4 times made sure we stopped here, always our best dinner while we are here!
Always love this place. Been here many times. Plus they let me park the Ferrari right in front.
Music was a nice addition from the bar for a date night
Birthday for wife
Being Newport, everything is pricey. I found this place to be overpriced for ok food. The food was not what I expected to be - my food was ok and based on Yelp reviews, should have read before considering celebrating my 3 yr. Anniversary.
If I’m spending 200 for dinner i shouldn’t have to wait 25-30 minutes with a reservation. Once you sit down another 15-30 to get a drink order in. Food was good a little overpriced but it’s newport what do you expect...
Awesome food and ambiance!
I really hate to write negative reviews so I’ll call this a constructive criticism. This has always been our favorite spot on the beach. Our son lives in Newport and we visit 2-3 a year. We always make it a point to eat at this restaurant. We’re from New Orleans and love steak and seafood chop house type dining. We know it’s expensive but we value great food and service. Unfortunately this night they were off the mark on both. Our waiter, Fernando, was covering so many tables that he hardly had time to even say hello.
Cocktail orders were wrong, seafood tower had crab legs
that were still frozen. I had to ask him to clear off the table after we finished the seafood. My sixty dollar ribeye was thin, grisly and poorly cooked. The rest was downhill after that. I don’t mind spending $600 for a four person dinner but I certainly expect 5 star service and high quality food well prepared. The wine selections were good and a good value as well. Unfortunately, they missed everything else on this night.
Great location with Oceanview. Food took too long. My husband order steak and lobster for dinner and lobster was cold. Overall disappointed with the food. I'll probably not go back.
Hubby took me there for my birthday. I was craving lobster and boy did they ever deliver. It was prepared just the way I like it. Broiled with lemon and butter. Hubby enjoyed his clam chowder and scallops selection also........ was also surprised with a yummy slice of chocolate cake with a lit candle. Thank you 21 Oceanfront for a great birthday dinner. Also got to enjoy watching the sunset from our table.
We chose 21 Oceanfront for our 29th Anniversary celebration. It was our first time at the restaurant and as soon as we walked up the stairs it reminded us of the classic Supper Clubs and Steak houses of the Midwest...rich leather accents, plenty of bling--complete with plenty of mirrors, and a sense that they were catering to a much more sophisticated crowd. Our Waiter wore a tuxedo, but as far as him leaving a lasting impression--that was about it. He came across very aloof and disinterested, staring out the windows at the goings-on in the parking lot and on the pier. We should have felt as though we were the only ones in the house, because WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE HOUSE! The place was empty when we got there. Don't get me wrong--our meals were terrific (and that's how they salvaged 3 Stars). But, all I could say is "thank goodness for the guys busing our table"...otherwise, we would have never received the additional accoutrements that our order required. Plus, I specifically requested a "Happy Anniversary" slice of NY Cheesecake to top off the occasion for my wife...and what did the Waiter bring us--chocolate cake. If you're going to go around decked out to the nines in a tux, make certain you get ALL of the details of your own game down-pat so your diner's walk away feeling as though they have genuinely attended a Black Tie affair. Furthermore, a fairly large group came in and basically took over the place. They were very loud at times, destroying any ambience the management was trying to create through their live or pre-recorded music. 21 Oceanfront will be "One" Oceanfront for my wife and I--meaning--once may very well be enough.
Still love the classic menu and the more "traditional" dining style. Cocktails are excellent.
Everything was perfect but there was a table that had extremely unruly children so it hindered our experience
food was really good (got the lobster tail & alaskan king crab legs) but service can be improved. the server paid so much attention to the big group right next to us and forgot about us.
Great food, nice place to view sunset, staff excels!
Great location on Balboa. Also near the night life if you are interested in that. Well trained staff!
The food and service was outstanding. We really enjoyed the evening and were able to see the sunset while we dined.
Nice ambiance. Service was good. Food didn’t have a lot of flavor and menu is very limited.
We love 21 Oceanfront and have been coming here for many years. My wife and I brought our son and his date for a special dinner. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a mixup in who our server was and we waited so long to be served that I had to go up to the waiters station and ask for service. Our water glasses were rarely if at all refilled and once our first round of drinks were ordered we weren’t asked again if we wanted anything else. Truly atrocious service which was a rarity given our previous visits. Hope things improve as the food was terrific.
Food was not up to par with standards of this restaurant.
Good experience but the personnel should clean the seats and refresh them after some dines The seats had a body odor.
As always, service, food and atmosphere was great! We treated close friends to dinner at this local gem. As always, it was above and beyond expectations. Compliments to the good management, service staff, and great chef and staff!
