This restaurant seems to be going downhill. The food was uneven. Sone dishes were very good while others were mediocre. The primary reason I will not go back is the service. Two bad experiences in a row.
Amazing yet pricey. Must try. Beautiful if you dine outside. Excellent service. Never too crowded.
I found the wine list lacking. The by the glass listing was very short and also lacking. Prices were above the normal range, in my opinion.
I enjoyed the atmosphere & the setting. The hostess was very helpful & friendly. Our server Todd was not; I did not feel welcomed, I felt like we were bothering him with any requests. He did provide a good recommendation for wine, however I never said “yes” he just brought it out & he never checked back with us to see how we were enjoying our meal or the wine he recommended. When it was time to leave he provided a very small take out container which clearly could not hold all the food & when we asked for a second container he seemed annoyed. I do not even recall if he said “Thank You for coming” Because of the service I would NOT return or recommend “20nine wine bar “ However there was one server (he was not our server) with dreads who was cheerful & very nice. The food is overpriced & was “Ehhhh” nothing to brag about. So double “no”
Food was great. Took the wife for valentines. Wonderful wine selections.
Great service, we were seated very quickly and accommodated at the bar while waiting. The food was great and wine was amazing our server Brooke was very knowledgeable with the food and wine choices, there was a slight mix up when the entree was brought out early. Brooke was able to correct the mix up and even gave us a complimentary glass of champagne. Although I was expecting a high price it was still a little pricy for a casual visit, special occasions are worth it. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for an upscale restaurant and wine bar!
It's the first time I went to this place and I was expecting more. The waiter made us wait a little bit more than expected, they only have one special menu for Valentine's day but I wanted to look more options from their regular menu. The person who served the food, different from our waiter was asking table by table if that was their food. The food felt grease at the end and honestly it was hard to digest the dinner that night. It was pricey for all these little details that in general made it a bad or really mediocre experience. For sure not visiting again soon.
This place was uncomfortably hot, for a night that was humid outside and this place had the heater on made for a very rushed dinner just to get out of there. Even our waitress said it was to hot. Not good for our first experience especially with what was suppose to be a high end meal.
Food was OKAY, but definitely overpriced. Would not return
Bf and I went here for Valentine's Day and I can't believe I've never visited before. Usually, I would go to Max's across the street for wine, but the selection at 20nine is just as diverse and I would say the price point is slightly better for wine. And I was blown away by their specialty V-Day menu. Not the most inventive but what I ate was so delicious I can't believe the chef hasn't received numerous accolades already. I had the caprese, the duck, and the tiramisu. Portion sizes were huge and no complaints about any of the dishes. I definitely plan on returning for happy hour or girl's night next go around.
This spot has amazing food and a great ambiance. I love the music they have playing and all of the employees are friendly.
Hostess service was poor when arrive with reservation, then tried to seat us in a very crowded bar area. After we got past hostess, waiter and food was good. Very unorganized at hostess area.
The food was large portions and heavy. The service was average although the wait staff was trying their best however they may need more training. The menu was pricy. I would stop in and visit the bar for a drink but as for dining I would go somewhere else.
Good Wine Menu and great service! I liked the atmosphere and the dinner choices for New Years Eve was great.
The food was passable. Great selection of wines. The waiter was busy socializing.
First time out for dinner on Christmas Eve, and it was delicious. Loved everything from service, wine to the four different courses we had
I took a friend to Christmas dinner there. Very disappointed. It started with a waiter who didn’t have a very helpful attitude. He offered drinks to me but not my companion. We had to wait for him to return with my tea before she could order wine. Then she asked if he had any menu recommendations and he said no, that they had just opened. Not sure what that meant. The meals were decent but my filet was cold. And while Im good with beef cooked rare, waiter never asked my preference. Finally, the desserts were included in the fixed price xmas dinner. My friend is a chocolate fanatic but didn’t care for her chocolate cake. My apple tart was mostly tasteless puff pastry and very little apple. Im pretty sure that the desserts came from some commercial kitchen specializing in fancy looking but cheap tasting desserts.
We would not go there again for dinner. Especially an anniversary dinner. We would recommend happy hour or wine flights at the bar. The food was delicious. But there were bread plates but no bread was offered. We had to ask. And then it was like, “oh I could get you some bread. “ But then the bread was never ready until we were leaving and so she boxed it up for us to go. In the meantime she had picked up all our plates and utensils so there would have been nothing to eat it on anyway. We were seated very close to the bar. The wait staff and bartender slammed the empty wine bottles into the trash. Made us jump each time they did it. Overall our meal was delicious, the wine was superb. Just a little down on the Service. Has potential though for another try.
Hubby and I are not really wine drinkers (we like Moscato because it's very sweet) but the menu looked very good and we do love good food! We were not disappointed!
Hubby had the filet and I had the duck two ways. Recommend both! Prices were very reasonable for the food. I believe the filet was $27 and the duck was around that as well. We did have a glass of wine each and had an awesome dessert - Habanero Cheesecake. Trust me, it was great!
They do have a nice wine list, so if you are into that, highly recommend as well. You can order by the glass, they have a sample menu or you can order by the bottle.
We always enjoy 20nine, and enjoy sharing our find with friends when we have the chance.
Great spot for trying different wines and a romantic dinner.
Great service and attention to details by Eduardo!!!
I took a friend out from her birthday. We started with a buttery scallop appetizer. I had the braised short ribs and they literally melted in my mouth. The waiter made a great recommendation for a wine that accommodated both of our tastes. Wonderful food, wine recommendations and pairings, and an overall enjoyable evening.
Amazing food! The Pepita Crusted chicke, burger and pork filet were outstanding and all cooking times were spot on. As for dessert I will say that the pumpkin bread pudding was the better choice opposed to the "spicy" habnero cheesecake.
Great food/great wine! Would definitely go back. Loved the wine "Road Trips" where you can try 3 different wines related in some way. I chose #3, U.S. Whites; they were all delicious! Great concept and nice to know exactly what you want to order for your follow-up glass. ;-) Food was exceptional and very fresh/imaginative. The pork filet was fabulous. I did ask them to create a side sauteed spinach dish for me with olive oil and garlic; it was way over-salted. But I'll cut them a little slack since it is not a regular side dish on their menu. Next time I'll be sure to specify to them to please use only a pinch! My husband though service was slow for the small # of customers there. As I said, overall a great experience and we would return! Definitely a foodie's and wine lover's place.
Food, service and wine was fantastic. We love the cozy feel to the restaurant. There is a great patio.
The evening was just unimpressive. The service was slow and seamed uninterested. For a wine bar i find the selection very limited, which is odd, and priced well above what other high end restaurants sell the same bottles for. The pizza is quite good but it cannot make up for all of the other areas where the restaurant is lacking
Awesome customer service and an excellent wine list. Kenny was super too!!!
Good food... it will keep you coming back... along with the wine list...
Food is fantastic, and the wine is even better. You can't beat their Happy Hour prices! And the service is exceptional.
I should have paid attention to the reviews about the food. My duck was tough not tender. That is pretty difficult since duck tends to be extremely rich. The manager had absolutely no people skills and was not interested in making anything right. He seemed to think it was the fault of the diner if anything went wrong. No customer service what so ever. For mcdonalds ok, I can understand that attitude, but for a restaurant charging what they do...well, I won't be back.
Great food & Great atmosphere! I will definitely be back!!!
Great food and wine, portions were good for the price
Nice spot for datenight, good wine and food selection. This place could benefit from a piano or light jazz music.
Loved our server!!!
Friends just got back from overseas, and we wanted to get together over good food and wine. The noise level suited being able to hear all the conversation. I had the flat iron steak, and it was okay. A little too much seasoning for my palette. The wine was really good, though. We had the calamari as an appetizer, and it was excellent. I would go back and try other entrees.
Everything was amazing. Just wish they had put us in a more private area since I had indicated it was a date night. The food was beyond superb. The duck with the blood orange was to die for! And the wine flights were an excellent touch.
It's a handsome venue and the food is quite good -- but the portions are small and prices quite high by San Antonio standards for equal quality cuisine. In fact, some of the really good local fine dining places are less expensive than 20nine. The service wasn't bad but not great, either. Even though this wine bar idea appeals to some I don't think we'll be going back any time soon.
The Wild Mushroom and Truffle pizza was amazing! We also enjoyed ordering the wine flights.
