The evening was great. Our party had a great time and the atmosphere was outstanding Great ambiance and the service was excellent without being intrusive allowing our party to converse during dinner
Love that this is a school operation. Everyone was very friendly and service was efficient. Food was great!! Can't wait to go back.
We truly enjoyed our three course fixed price meal. The staff were all excellent and the good was delicious and presented in an elegant manner. We will return.
The Spring menu has a delicious Chicken Marsala. Focaccia served with herbed olive oil is a delicious starter.
Last spring's menu was better, but overall always a good experience.
Service and food were both outstanding. Will definitely be dining here again
My friends and I enjoyed the evening at 200 Monroe. We will definitely return in the spring.
We were impressed with the presentation of the food and the preparation. I have recommended it to several friends.
We received a warm reception when we entered the restaurant and were seated promptly although we arrived 15 minutes early. The menu carried a nice selection of entrees without being overwhelming. Service was polite and fast. The waiter was very attentive. The filet mignon was cooked as requested, very tender and delicious. The halibut was moist with a crispy outside in a flavorful sauce. The salad was good but nothing to rave about. The lentil soup was a winner. It was nice being able to observe the food being plated; it gave it an intimate atmosphere. Can't wait to return.
Excellent food and value! Waitress could have been more attentive. Our glasses were empty several times for long periods and silverware was missing for 2nd and 3rd course. Overall a very good experience.
This student-run pop-up cafe offers great value to diners. The food is excellent, starting with well-sourced ingredients. It is a set menu of a starter, main course, dessert, and coffee (or tea.) Since it is run by students, there can be hiccups. Our server was very warm and amiable but not versed in server etiquette. For example, she always took my husband's order first, did not check on our water glasses, and recited the ingredient list when we asked what the soup of the evening was. It was also a little distracting to have a TV monitor directly behind my partner's head (although I could see my dinner as it was plated). Otherwise, I can't wait to go back in the spring. I am glad that FCC gives this opportunity to its students.
The students did really well and food was good. Only negative I was salad dressing way to vinegary
This is a restaurant that helps the culinary arts and hospitality students at Frederick Community College learn their craft. The experience, however, did not feel like a learning environment. There were a great selection of dishes. My husband had the steak and I had the gnocchi. We both enjoyed our dishes. Our server was friendly, energetic, and attentive. We would definitely recommend to others and would come back again.
Nicely done student run/teacher supervised dining experience. I've taken that into consideration in my rating. There are a few rough edges, but their desire to please makes up for it. Halibut was excellent. The gnocchi dish had an overly rich cream sauce. It is a tremendous value and we'll return in the spring semester.
The chicken had a nice light smoke flavor and the filet was cooked a nice medium with a nice grill flavor
The culinary and hospitality students from Frederick Community College run a hidden gem. Can't wait until Spring to see the new seasonal menu. Great value and excellent food, carefully prepared.
My husband and I had dinner at 200 Monroe after reading an article about the Hospitality, Culinary, and Tourism Institute at FCC. 200 Monroe provides an opportunity for students to experience all aspects of a restaurant operation. The students prepared and served the food. We enjoyed interacting with our server and the supervisors who were present. It was a great evening. The food was well prepared, well presented, and delicious. We were impressed with 200 Monroe and will return.
I had higher hopes for 200 Monroe
This was our first time at 200 Monroe treating good friends. It was a wonderful evening - delicious food, wonderful room, and very good service. We will be back !
This is a GREAT program that not only provides experience for students but a wonderful way for patrons to enjoy a delicious meal. Well done!
As always the food and service was excellent, I love having dinner at 200 Monroe and watching the students shine.
Loved the atmosphere and it was such a nice experience to enjoy a 3 course dinner with my daughter at a reasonable price. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends
A chef driven meal at a moderate price. I would highly recommend 200 Monroe for dinner. Food and service quality is as good as any high end restaurant.
Such an incredible meal. Service and food was exceptional. Definite place to go on a Thursday night for dinner.
This is a hidden gem in Frederick. The culinary students trade off being chefs and servers giving them an opportunity to both prepare and present food. And the three course meals have always been delicious. This year they added a Fall seating. If you can, try to make reservations for both the Fall and the Spring events. They only offer this dining opportunity for a few days each semester, so get on their mailing list.
The food was excellent and the service was good. The only complaint was the table next to us. The lady talked very loud and complained about her steak endlessly. The staff was friendly & professional, but unfortunately everyone around us had to listen to this woman for almost an hour.
This is a training venue for culinary arts students. Patience is understood when evaluating student's efforts. The FCC student service were reasonable efficient considering the crowd and facilities. Menu and food were excellent and experience was certainly worth the price. Thank you, 200 Monroe.
I have eaten here several times and each time it’s been a different class. Usually the food is better than any 5 star restaurant, but not this time. The Monroe Salad had too much vinegar. The soup du jour was flavorful and tasty. The handmade potato gnocchi was flavorful, but there were so many mushrooms and hardly any potatoes. The steak was tender, delicious & cooked to perfection. However, the green beans had too much garlic. The fried potatoes were burnt. The halibut presentation was gorgeous, but the fish & the risotto both tasted burnt. The creme brûlée was on-point as was the chocolate cheesecake. I’ll definitely return, but not this season.
My steak was cooked exactly right and the crime brûlée was wonderful. We were there on first night, so server was a bit nervous, but was attentive and answered all my questions.
This is our 6th or 7th time here at 200 Monroe. It's a wonderful way to support these students and have a good meal.
Everyone should experience the dining experience at 200 Monroe! The culinary students from the Frederick Community College program do an outstanding job preparing and serving a delicious 3-course meal. The food is beautifully presented and is very tasty. There is lots of attention to detail to make it feel like a "formal" dining experience including white tablecloths and a single tulip on each table. 200 Monroe is, by far, one of the best values one can get for a fine meal at only $35 for dinner. Elizabeth, the Director of the program, should be very proud of the success of this venture!
The atmosphere was perfect, including the artwork on the walls and the music. The service was attentive, welcoming, and accommodating. The food was spectacular with a beautiful presentation and high flavor profile. I highly recommend the Monroe Restaurant to anyone! They do a wonderful job.
One would never know this restaurant was a student operation! Food , service, ambience better than 5 star restaurants. Loved it!
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Great overall experience.
Better than many five star restaurants I’ve been to. Each course looked perfect, the cold food was cold and the hot dish was hot. Each course tasted super fresh and very satisfying...loved the salmon!! Loved the table setting with table cloth, tulip flower, and salt and pepper shakers. Even the bread was awesome! Real restaurants should take a lesson and learn how to do it right. 200 Monroe respects their customers!
This is Frederick Community College's pop-up restaurant. It is run by the culinary arts student and is one of the best dining bargains in town. Since it is a student project, they really are customer service focused, much more than your average restaurant. It is a prix fixe menu with well-rounded choices. The food is excellent and well plated. The only problem is that since it is a pop-up, reservations are very hard to come by.
Yes, there should never be an empty table on any of the nights 200 Monroe is open. I saw one empty table and I thought, someone should be sitting there to enjoy what these students are learning how to do!! They work so hard that evening and do an outstanding job.
The food is always good at 200 Monroe! The student chefs are so enthusiastic! It is a pleasure to have a meal there!
We always enjoy our food and dining experience. Look forward to our next reservation
Food & service were top notch. Attention to detail was evident in all aspects of the dining experience!
Good flavors and nice presentations. Not an extensive menu but everything you need. Open kitchen which I always like. Service good but not refined, as one might expect in an educational environment. Great value. Part of the service training should be to go Volt once, or have a server from Volt give a one hour tutorial.
