Under the guidance of our Hospitality and Culinary instructors, students in both Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts programs showcase their newly-acquired skills in an open-kitchen restaurant setting by delivering excellent service and a high-quality dining experience to you and your guests.
Located at 200 Monroe Avenue in Frederick, MD, 200 Monroe Restaurant is open during the fall and spring semesters to offer a fixed-price 3-course menu for $35.00 including tax and gratuity on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Online reservations for parties of 2-4 people only. Credit card payments only, no cash accepted.
Such an incredible meal. Service and food was exceptional. Definite place to go on a Thursday night for dinner.
This is a hidden gem in Frederick. The culinary students trade off being chefs and servers giving them an opportunity to both prepare and present food. And the three course meals have always been delicious. This year they added a Fall seating. If you can, try to make reservations for both the Fall and the Spring events. They only offer this dining opportunity for a few days each semester, so get on their mailing list.
The food was excellent and the service was good. The only complaint was the table next to us. The lady talked very loud and complained about her steak endlessly. The staff was friendly & professional, but unfortunately everyone around us had to listen to this woman for almost an hour.
This is a training venue for culinary arts students. Patience is understood when evaluating student's efforts. The FCC student service were reasonable efficient considering the crowd and facilities. Menu and food were excellent and experience was certainly worth the price. Thank you, 200 Monroe.
I have eaten here several times and each time it’s been a different class. Usually the food is better than any 5 star restaurant, but not this time. The Monroe Salad had too much vinegar. The soup du jour was flavorful and tasty. The handmade potato gnocchi was flavorful, but there were so many mushrooms and hardly any potatoes. The steak was tender, delicious & cooked to perfection. However, the green beans had too much garlic. The fried potatoes were burnt. The halibut presentation was gorgeous, but the fish & the risotto both tasted burnt. The creme brûlée was on-point as was the chocolate cheesecake. I’ll definitely return, but not this season.
My steak was cooked exactly right and the crime brûlée was wonderful. We were there on first night, so server was a bit nervous, but was attentive and answered all my questions.
This is our 6th or 7th time here at 200 Monroe. It's a wonderful way to support these students and have a good meal.
Everyone should experience the dining experience at 200 Monroe! The culinary students from the Frederick Community College program do an outstanding job preparing and serving a delicious 3-course meal. The food is beautifully presented and is very tasty. There is lots of attention to detail to make it feel like a "formal" dining experience including white tablecloths and a single tulip on each table. 200 Monroe is, by far, one of the best values one can get for a fine meal at only $35 for dinner. Elizabeth, the Director of the program, should be very proud of the success of this venture!
The atmosphere was perfect, including the artwork on the walls and the music. The service was attentive, welcoming, and accommodating. The food was spectacular with a beautiful presentation and high flavor profile. I highly recommend the Monroe Restaurant to anyone! They do a wonderful job.
One would never know this restaurant was a student operation! Food , service, ambience better than 5 star restaurants. Loved it!
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Great overall experience.
Better than many five star restaurants I’ve been to. Each course looked perfect, the cold food was cold and the hot dish was hot. Each course tasted super fresh and very satisfying...loved the salmon!! Loved the table setting with table cloth, tulip flower, and salt and pepper shakers. Even the bread was awesome! Real restaurants should take a lesson and learn how to do it right. 200 Monroe respects their customers!
This is Frederick Community College's pop-up restaurant. It is run by the culinary arts student and is one of the best dining bargains in town. Since it is a student project, they really are customer service focused, much more than your average restaurant. It is a prix fixe menu with well-rounded choices. The food is excellent and well plated. The only problem is that since it is a pop-up, reservations are very hard to come by.
Yes, there should never be an empty table on any of the nights 200 Monroe is open. I saw one empty table and I thought, someone should be sitting there to enjoy what these students are learning how to do!! They work so hard that evening and do an outstanding job.
The food is always good at 200 Monroe! The student chefs are so enthusiastic! It is a pleasure to have a meal there!
We always enjoy our food and dining experience. Look forward to our next reservation
Food & service were top notch. Attention to detail was evident in all aspects of the dining experience!
Good flavors and nice presentations. Not an extensive menu but everything you need. Open kitchen which I always like. Service good but not refined, as one might expect in an educational environment. Great value. Part of the service training should be to go Volt once, or have a server from Volt give a one hour tutorial.
Outstanding service and delicious food prepare by the kids from the culinary program.
Our server, Julia, was very friendly and helpful. The food took a little longer than I expected, but overall everything was delicious. Will definitely return.
Delicious food and great service!
Very much a fine dining experience. Food was excellent and very high quality. I would have paid a lot more at a regular restaurant. The students did an amazing job but remember they are still learning so be patient and help them. I will be back!
Wow... we had such a great meal. The food and service was wonderful. We can’t wait to go back.
An outstanding program for FCC and a time for the students to display their talents. The setting so enjoyable to watch on a screen the preparation of our food; excellent menu with a variety of selections; and the staff was very informative in answering our questions. A lovely evening with good conversation with friends.
The students are so professional. The food is superb. We can’t wait to go back. Looking forward to having lunch too.
This was our second time, we really enjoy it, our friends are going next month. We are hoping to go again also next month!!
Fun experience watching the students prepare and serve the food, excellent food too
The food was excellent and a great value. It was fun knowing we helped the students but had a fantastic meal at a great price.
The students did a great job all around. I was happy to give them positive feedback. It was also nice to have a quiet dinner where we could hear each other.
Wonderful experience! Delectable food! Great to be a part of the students’ educational experience. Highly recommend!
This place has wonderful energy and good food. The students are clearly passionate and held to a high level of professionalism. If you're a foodie, it's nice to enjoy a tasty, creative meal while supporting the next generation of chefs as they polish their craft.
Oh my, it was such a wonderful dining experience at 200 Monroe. The food presentation was beautiful. Each course we had tasted sooo wonderful and the ambiance was great. Don’t miss out and make your reservation today!
Service was great and food was very good. I had potabella mushroom crepes which were delicious. My husband and son both had steak frites. They said the steak tasted very good but that they ordered medium and they were rare. Great fries. We all had Tart Tatin who was wonderful. Looking forward to going again next year.
Liked it so much, I took my daughter out for a date night. Well done once again! Keep up the good work!
We enjoy the food experience and watching all the students put their learning/school experience into a actual restaurant experience.
Fun experience with the local community college.
Well Done. This is the second year we have had the privilege to dine at 200 Monroe and have not been disappointed. Considering these are culinary and hospitality students the food and service is excellent and we look forward to our next repast at 200 Monroe.
My wife and I visited 200 Monroe twice this spring, the second time with two neighbors. We enjoyed the experience even better the second than the first time. Lovely setting, food was tasty and nicely presented and room was conducive to good conversation. We'll be going back next spring when it returns.
200 Monroe provides a great dinner for $30 each (3 courses) and supported the Culinary Arts Program at Frederick Community College. The meal is a culmination of all they have learned for meal prep and service for about 25 people per half hour. The students get a lot of feedback, and you get a great meal. Wonderful to hear the stories of where the young folks will go after graduation. Highly recommended for an interesting evening and a truly satisfying meal.
Enjoyed the students showing what they had learned. They were very conscientious. The food was quite good, and we enjoyed visiting with the director of the program. It was a very unique, delicious experience. Will definitely return.
