20 Brix Ratings and Reviews
What I have to say is that all the staff, from the chef to the manager to the waitress all care greatly about the food they serve. Vickie (our waitress) was awesome. You could tell she was excited by the quality of the food and her excitement translated into a wonderful dining experience for us. The manager is also to be commended. He came by our table no less than three times to make sure everything was to our liking. He was polite and also an engaging individual. Although we did not have a chance to meet the chef, I would have thoroughly thanked him for his innovative ideas and flavorful food.
I've been to highly rated restaurants around the country and this one truly stacks up with the best. It is truly fit for foodies.
We go to 20 Brix for our special occasions, this one was our 25th anniversiry, I wanted to go to a place I knew I could trust to give me a quality evening and 20 Brix is such a place. The food is excelent, the waiters are extreamly knowledgeable about the menu and wine choices. Excelenet wine choices we have on our calendar for our next specal occasion
Went for the Spring Wine Tasting. From the Asparagus Bisque with Lobster to the Butternut Squash Crepes with Housemade Ricotta, to the Italian Sausage Arancini then the Duck Breast with Crispy Skin and finally the Spring Berry "Soup" with a Cheesecake Cream on top, we loved every bit and the wine pairings were outstanding and all were very moderately priced. We love these tastings, the chef is so innovative we just never know what we're going to get!
Best wine list around--very long, but very easy to read. Server also extremely knowledgable about the wines. Food was good, but not outstanding; menu very interesting, though yet still has a burger for those who want basic. I would go back because it's such a comfortable place and overall positive experience.
We had the new menu -- fantastic! Did the Chicken Liver Mousse with Pumpernickel Toast, WOW. Also the Pork Belly. For entree I had the Chicken Thigh Paillard and my husband had the Cod. Both so delicious, we shared and ate every bite. Even though we were stuffed, we shared a dessert -- a Glazed donut put in a panini press with a berry sauce and whipped cream. Excellent meal, love the new menu!
This is one of our special night places because the wine list and food presentation. Nothing but good experiences, excellent support in understanding the various wines, and with constant refreshing of the menu, even regular dishes take on new flavor combinations on a regular basis.
20 Brix always puts out top-notch food and one of few Cincinnati places open Monday nights (which is also retail-price wine bottle night). Service is almost always impeccable but for some reason it was a little slow tonight. Highly recommend the lamb meatball or mushroom bruschetta appetizer and the chicken & waffles entree.
We have had many good meals at 20 Brix. This weekend was not one of them. I had the swordfish entre, and instead of a swordfish steak, it was ground swordfish in fried balls. The menu did not describe this at all. The baked broccoli was in a very rich cream sauce. Again, not what I expected. My wife enjoyed her scallops on a bed of bok choy. Service was very good, attentive and friendly. As always the wine list was extensive and the descriptions were very helpful. Not the best meal, but we will go back because we have had good experiences in the past.
We went during restaurant week, and the first reservation we had we arrived and the power was out. We ended up rebooking, and were we glad we did! My husband and daughter started w/ arugula salads. I had the delicious squash soup. Two of us then had the bruschetta w/ and egg on top. That was my favorite of the night. My husband had a French onion risotto that he enjoyed very much. For mains two of us had the scallops and I had the shrimp and grits. This we wonderful. I tasted the scallop dish and thought the ragu w/ the scallops was a tad salty for my taste. The scallops were done perfectly though! We also had a delicious lemon blueberry marscapone cake for dessert.
It was a great evening and the service was fantastic. We were running late and the host was more than willing to accommodate us. The food was spectacular! Thanks for participating in GCI Restaurant Week! Because of that, we have tried 20 Brix, loved it, and will come back!
My boyfriend and I loved this place! We went for restaurant week and enjoyed every bite of food we ate. We met this charming couple that had met at the restaurant and are now married. They were so friendly and spoke highly of the people at 20 Brix as well. We can't wait to go back!
I recently visted 20 Brix for GCI Restaurant Week with a few friends. We were lucky enough to be seated at the Chef's Table and were given a complimentary glass of champagne as we sat down. We all took advantage of the featured prix fixe tasting menu. First course was a salad - which, was salad. Nothing spectacular. For the second course, I chose the mushroom bruschetta, which was amazing, complete with a perfectly cooked egg on top. For the third course we all had the pan seared scallops which were seared and cooked to perfection. We also had a couple of glasses of wine from their extensive, yet informative, wine list. The service was impeccable and everyone enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere, and the company. I hope to return soon!
We had a wonderful 3 course meal and then added for desert during Cincinnati resturant week. The food was imaginative and very well prepared with great flavors. We had a 3 wine flight paired with our dinners that was very well selected and fairly reasonable. Our waitress was very knowledgable and attentive. This was our 1 st time at 20Brix and we will definetly return.
Most menu items are adaptable if you don't eat meat but eat fish (scallops come with pork sauce). Menu is creative, modern and has enough selections to satisfy small and large appetites, with a broad price range. Most wines by the glass come in 2 oz sizes or a regular size.
Took my wife here for her birthday. This is 50 miles away from our home, so we made the decision after looking at other places we had on our list. When we arrived the power was out! We were disappointed, but felt that we would chance sitting down and waiting. Well, the power never came on. But the best part of the story and why we will go back is how we were treated. The General Manager was great. He apologized [though totally out of his control] We sipped on great wine and enjoyed a conversation starter plate of cheeses and fruit that was amazing [and did not require electricity. The GM offered us future reservations with the same Restaurant Week Menu and my wife was given a gift certificate! We were seated at Padrino's by owner.
I'm not sure if I had dinner at a wine bar or wine at a restaurant. The menu selections didn't seem to fit the "wine bar" label. The entrees were all fairly heavy and overdressed. The squash soup was delicious, but both my mushroom pizza and my companion's pasta dishes were drowning in oil and/or sauce - making them sit very heavily and seem richer than they should have been. The menu choices, while interesting, were unoriginal. I could have prepared them at home.
The wine, on the other hand, was very good. The wine list is laid out in a way that is both engaging and user friendly. The sommelier came to our table to explain the wines and was the highlight of our experience.
Dinner last Saturday was unacceptable. Both my husband and I ordered the Scottish Salmon. It came with corn anmd spatzle--and I cannot eat either one. No substitutions wetre allowed. I ordered root vegetable ala carte so that I would have something in addition to the salmon. Both of our salmon portions were the very tail ends of the fillet with 2 thin tail ends stacked on top of each other. They were cooked to the consistency of leather (we had asked for medium). We sent them back. The portions which we next received were raw. The manager took those back and recooked those. I can tell you these were not Scottish salmon--I have had better Atlantic salmon from Kroger's. It was nearly inedible. My root vegetables were rock hard.Won't return.
