2 West Ratings and Reviews
Went there for brunch, it was very quiet and relaxing. The decor was modern but luxurious and the 3 course option was a great value. You would expect teeny portions but my friends lox and bagel app was legit an entire meal in and of itself! I had the flank steak which I partially took home and I couldn't believe it tasted even better the next day! Everyone was attentive and friendly. My only complaint was that they mixed up our orders when we asked for it to be wrapped up. We both ordered the same dish, but ate different amounts. Since we've had leftover mix ups at other places before, we knew to check after they packed the food up for us. I would for sure come back for brunch!
The service was wonderful but the food was merely average. The Mahi Mahi/grouper sandwich was dry and was more bread than fish. The breadbasket was cold. The shredded pork sliders tasted like sauce from a jar. The cheesecake with strawberries was quite nice though.
A comfortable, refuge from the noisy, crazy New York restaurant scene. Food was excellent. Beautiful salads, and huge portion sizes (maybe too huge, but they did offer to pack it up for us to take home). I could quibble with one or two dishes. e.g. too much butter on the brussels sprouts, but the bacon marmalade was tasty. Most of all, the ambience was lovely. Restaurant is very handsome with great views, but no so elegant that you can't relax. The low noise level was refreshing. You can hear yourself think, which is increasingly rare in NYC.
The Steamers appetizer had a wonderful broth and the French Onion soup was solid. The steaks and lamb chops were a little pricey but they were prepared just as we requested and we enjoyed them very much.
Great staff - our servers Tino and Wendy were terrific.
Went with friends for brunch and found 2 West on OpenTable as it was close to their neighborhood in the Financial District. Looked forward to the crunchy French toast. We were immediately disappointed with the ambiance of the place, which is typical corporate hotel style with no real character.
Service was typical of this kind of hotel scene, a bit lagging but nothing worthy of a full-throated complaint. Brunch was mediocre and would have been fine if it came complementary with our room but we actually live in New York and had to pay for it.
I will say that it is a decent place if you do not like cramped spaces. There was room if you have kids and need to take a stroller inside, etc. But would not recommend.
Extraordinarily bad service. No one seems to know what they are doing. Wrong order came out twice and one woman kept bringing over food asking if it was ours.
Additionally, no one in the kitchen listens to the orders so you don't get what you asked for.
Want water? Forget it. Your waiter disappears and you'll die of thirst.
The food is OK bu absurdly overpriced. And I do mean absurdly.
You'll be far better off eating some where else. It's shocking how bad the experience was.
The wrong orders brought to table over and over.
Way over priced.
How do you get an order like -- plain bagel with nothing on it wrong???
Why do we have to continually ask where the bacon is?
This place is truly a new low in BAD service.
The Ritz Carlton - 2 West is always a terrific place to dine, quiet with great service, great food. It is always enjoyable. The bartender, Kevin, does an outstanding job mixing cocktails and pouring wine. He is a bartender in classic New York sense. Well versed in topics of the day. Always ready with a quip and attentive service. Don't miss this place!
The restaurant is in a great location facing the battery park harbor. The restaurant is modern, small, but the decor is average. It is located in Ritz Carlton. The service and food is what you except from Ritz Carlton; consistent and high quality. Enjoyed every bite.
2 West is the restaurant inside the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park. I would guess most of the clientele are hotel guests. Food is excellently prepared there. Menus are on an IPad and I was there for Restaurant Week. That menu was not included in the IPad and the waiter inadvertently forgot to hand one to us. A little awkward asking for it since I was a little unsure if it was lunch only and we were there for dinner. But it was just an oversight. Restaurant Week dinner was tasty and well worth it. Lobster corn chowder and crab cakes were very good. Skirt steak and herb roasted chicken were also very good.
The waiters do not show much enthusiasm about their job. It was not busy on a Friday evening. He made mistakes - thought we were the other party who celebrated birthday there, etc., kept walking by and asked if we finished food while we were just chatting...
My husband and I used to think that eating at a hotel dining room is a sorry event when there are no other choices nearby. 2 West at the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park shattered our belief. Our 3-course meal there compared favorably with the best restaurants in NYC. Our blue crab cakes appetizer, roasted Maine cod, and the best NY style cheesecake for dessert (we ordered the same dishes) blew our minds away. You can tell that they used the finest ingredients. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back!
Stayed at The Ritz Carlton At Battery Park and were celebrating a milestone. We met a family member who was working nearby and it worked for all of us The menu was vegetarian friendly and there was a good cocktail menu. Food was enjoyable and well presented. I had the beet salad and cauliflower steak which was delicious and inventive. Only weak points were the vegetarian soup and the dessert. Service was excellent. Recommend especially if you are staying at hotel.
