This is the best Indian food I’ve ever had and great service!
Love love loved our dinner at Darbar. It was a super easy last minute reservation with impeccable service and food. Very authentic northern Indian cuisine made to perfection. Would recommend this to others and will definitely visit again.
Everything was really high quality - food, drinks, service. The naan bread was about the best I've ever had. I ordered the Chicken Korma, which should, by definition, pretty mild. The waiter asked how spicy I wanted it. I told him "mild". What I got was actually pretty spicy, though. I'm a real lightweight when it comes to spicy food, so others may have thought it was pretty mild, but it made my face and head perspire. Just a warning - if you're like me, really emphasize the MILD part. Other than that, everything was excellent.
Had awesome dining experience from food to service. For vegetarian dish, malai kofta is highly recommended.
The salmon tikka and shrimp biryani were outstanding. Lamb vindaloo and Sag Paneer very good. Naan also unusually good. If you are craving good Indian food in mid-town, this is a good spot. The staff were very nice and attentive.
We traveled from Boston to eat here and it was our second time there. Excellent food, well cooked, excellent cocktails and consistent good service. The crispy okra is excellent as well as their tandoori offerings. The naans were soft and crisp on the edges and did not become hard to chew even if they cooled down. Strongly recommend this restaurant!
amazing food and really nice service. Will go back for sure!
Masala papad wasn't on the menu but they made it for us, which was very nice of them. Food was great - beetroot kofta, gobhi aloo, garlic naan (especially) and butter roti.
Lovely service. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was simple and quiet. Great place for an early dinner before a performance at the City Center.
We found the restaurant to have a nice atmosphere, very attentive staff and a nice twist on some of the standard Indian meals.
Consistently excellent food and service.
Everything is delicious and perfectly prepared.
Amazing in every way.
One of the Indian meals I've had. I had their chicken mirch bhuna accompanied with tandoori baked veggies. Amazing!!! My only regret - ate alone and could not try more of their dishes and enjoy the amazing food with someone else. Def recommend.
Great gluten free options
Very enjoyable dining experience. We live on UES but haven't been completely satisfied with offerings for Indian food in our neighborhood. This is the place! We will make the trek to eat at 2 Darbar Grill on a regular basis. Great food and very friendly, accommodating wait staff.
We really really enjoyed the restaurant.
If your not too hungry then share one curry. However if we had a fridge I'd order one each as it was that good !
Nos encanta la comida india y este restaurante ofrece muchas alternativas de curry, tandoori y toda la maravillosa comida de la India. Vimos muchas personas de origen indio y eso siempre es una buena señal! Todo nos gustó, todo!
Stopped in for a later dinner (~8pm) on a Weds evening and we're promptly seated.
Food: We ordered off of the menu (which is very extensive - almost hard to select something) and landed with the vegetarian samosas to start, mango lassi to drink and shared a tandoori grill platter. Portions were relatively small but we also weren't too hungry
Deals: Yelp does a free naan deal, but they don't allow you to swap with a flavored naan.
Service: The servers seemed to have a hard time speaking / understanding English, so we had to speak slowly to help him understand our requests. Not a bad thing, just be ready for it. Also, for some reason our mango lassi's had a ring of lassi that made a mess on our table, this could've been better.
Overall, a great restaurant. The food was very good, though I have had better. Ambiance and service were top-notch. My only other criticism is the somewhat lean portions.
Amazing food I a chef and this place knocked it out the park, real authentic Indian cuisine.
Food was Ok but with so many others that r better, why return.
This is a very well-intentioned restaurant in a great part of town and the room is attractive and the staff are delightful and friendly The basmati rice is A+plus, light and fluffy, as was the fruit filled naan bread. The chicken tikka masala was chunks of dried chicken Breast, not moist and juicy as one would expect with a very mundane tomatoy sauce ( did not taste authentic). The eggplant dish was fine but nothing special The menu had many different kinds of protein with same sauces so our feeling was that the kitchen cooked very little to order.
We were disappointed as OpenTable gave it over four stars and we really feel that is overrated. The waiter was very very nice
Overall good, got a little stomach ache afterword.
Service was great. Food was delicious and our server was nice about telling us what the dishes were.
We LOVE this place!! Visit often! Lovely staff!!
Best Indian food in Manhattan.
Darbar never disappoints! Great food and service. Suitable for a cozy date, group gathering or quick bite before a show or night out.
Restaurant is in a convenient location and very nice service. Food was not good at all, strange flavors and definitely overpriced. Really wanted to like the place but disappointed, will not be returning .
Mediocre taste, wine and water bottles on the table waiitng to be picked up is sad, not professional service, not knowledgeable and pretty pushy. Overall, nothing to recommend here.
The place needs a good cleaning. Walking up the stairs to the upstairs section (where restrooms are) there is a filthy look to the place.
Looks apart...food was good. Service excellent. Special mention of waiter, Ashton, who was outstanding and would be an asset to any establishment.
The clean-up/ renovation would help tremendously!
Took our 3 kids (12, 16, 18) out to dinner here while visiting NYC. Wonderful food, very thoughtful and attentive servers...we ordered multiple apps (Samosas, garlic shrimp, meat skewers) and entrees (butter chicken, tandoori shrimp) and EVERYTHING was terrific. Would love to go back!
Had a great Christmas Eve dinner with my wife.
Hospitable friendly staff made us feel welcome. We enjoy our food spicy and had great lamb chops and a spicy garlic shrimp dish recommended by the waiter. Food was yummy , big portions and delicious. Enjoy great Indian food at Darbar.
One our favorite spots on the East Side. Quiet, relaxing, friendly, great service and superb food
My wife and I came to visit the city and was looking for a good Indian spot to eat. We saw the reviews on Open Table and decided to give this place a try. The service was outstanding! The waiter was very friendly and polite. Even the manager came over to out table to check on us. My wife and I were very pleased. The food was amazing! I ordered the chicken curry and garlic naan and this was the best Indian food that I ever had. Next time we visit New York, we will definitely be back!
This place is absolutely delicious! I was tired of having too much Italian food and wanted to find something different. This place is not overcrowded on Friday night and the ambience is perfect for either a quiet dinner with friends or a date. The waiters are very friendly and attentive. We were so satisfied by the meal. I highly recommend the mango lassi! My friend and I would definitely come back.
The management saved this from being a dismal evening by moving us to a quieter table upstairs. There were 2 large groups seated before us so the slow service was not unexpected, but the large table next to us was shouting and giving high 5s without any regard for diners around them. At first, the waiter said there was no other table, but then management opened up the second floor and graciously moved us. We dine here often because the food is excellent but this would have been our last visit if not for this solution to a problem.
All wS good
We LOVE 2 Darbar Grill, and visit every time we are in Midtown Manhattan. Delicious Indian
food--the Curries are great as is the Tikka Masala, and the service is strong as well. For dinner out, it could not be more economical, and a nice candle-lit atmosphere as well!
Food was good but service was ok. Started off fine but it seems they were understaffed or too focus on a bigger party that it took a while to take our dessert order and give us a scoop of ice cream and then the check. But they were quick to take our payment -_-
Terrific service. Delicious food. Reasonable price. Will definitely go back again.
