1919 does some of what it's supposed to in order to be what it wants to be, a 'fine dining experience" however it's not. It's a good dining experience and some of the food is delightful. The heirloom tomato plate was delish and notably had the best tomato sorbet I have had, however many other other dishes were good but forgettable. Perfectly cooked veal but missing the accompaniments that turn the pallet from a bored meeting into a fiesta. A vegetable ash, demi glace and sour cherry sauce would have made this a dish to remember. The chef sent out a few "special' dishes that agin, I can't remember. Atmosphere: we were sat outside in the bar area. It's a bar area. The servers were very nice and really went out of their way to pick up the effort and I do appreciate that but there is a difference between classically trained wait staff and the service that you get at Les Amis in Singapore or Sketch in London. It is true that 1919 is not either of these and this is clear in the price points as well as everything else, well... except the sorbet, but they try to sell you that they are. It's listed as a "fine Dining" establishment and like I said, there are some very good qualities here but naaa, it's nice dining and a nice experience.
My wife and I ate here last night and it was fantastic! We had the chef’s tasting menu and absolutely loved the experience. The chef Juan Jose Cuevas came to the table several times to explain different dishes and both his talent as a chef and love of this restaurant were clear. The staff including William, Joshua and Jorge went above and beyond to ensure that we had an excellent evening. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough, it was wonderful.
The service and food were absolutely outstanding! We came for our honeymoon and cannot recommend it enough! We did the four course prix fixe menu and it was phenomenal! We can’t stop talking about how amazing the experience was. Worth every cent!!
The truffle soup, heirloom tomato salad and desserts were all highlights, great service from Wesley and entire staff.

Amazing place, service is 5 star but food is overpriced and the cocktails too, $74 dollars for a Macallan 12!!!! Not the bottle… tasting was amazing but they said 115 for the courses and then they charge you additional for many of each of them. Ticket for two one Macallan glass and one glass of champagne $429 dollars and the prime rib was previously frozen not worth it, but the employees there such amazing

1919 happened to be the best dining experience we ever had in PR. Everything about it was awesome…food, service, and ambiance. The service was outstanding, professional yet friendly. Certainly worth a couple Michelin starts, if they ever get around to visit PR.

I was served a lobster salad with a black hair in it. Never was given an apology, instead was told “ok, I’ll get you a new one.” My husband waited at least 30 min with an empty glass before someone asked if he needed another drink. The food overall was average. Most was bland, nothing with great flavor. The only course we actually enjoyed was dessert. We also waited another 30-40 min after dessert to even receive our check. Overall, it was not a great experience. I feel it did not live up to the “fine dining” experience they advertise online. Very disappointed and would never return.

The food was spectacular and recommendations that our server William provided were top notch! William went above and beyond to ensure we were very comfortable. Each server/food runner that I mentioned by name above remembered our names and acknowledged birthday celebration! They were all very welcoming and genuine! Thank you very much as we will remember this night for a long time! You made it extra special!

I was never emailed or told that I was getting a prix fixed menu. So, this was a bit disappointing. We also were seated in some other room, off of the main room. One reason I booked this reservation was because of the ambience, which was a null because we were in a private room with 2 other large parties.
The service was on the slower side, however the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
The food was very delicious, risotto was very creamy, the fish was cooked to perfection. I loved the chocolate dessert, which had great tectures.
I would definitely go back.
Having a great restaurant is not always about the food, it is also about the people that make the restaurant a place to remember. The service provided by both Jonalie and Agustin back in August 2021 made it easy for me to decide to come back and celebrate my birthday at 1919.
The food is skillfully prepared and drinks are crafted with precision. The lobster salad is superb as well as the tres leches cake. Drinks? Go straight to the Vanderbilt mojito, prepared with the Puerto Rico’s very own Ron del Barrilito 3 estrellas.
Everything and everyone was perfect from the first moment to the last. Our server was very accommodating, kind, knowledgeable. And so was the rest of the team for that matter. The food was exceptional. I truly believe i have never eaten better at a restaurant in my life. I didn’t rate the value as 5 stars only because this is not a restaurant where a value price point is expected. That said you will leave well fed and happy.

Very high end from a pricing standpoint. Be aware that there is a dress code and “smart casual” means pants for men regardless of the temperature!

Impeccable service throughout the entire evening. The staff did not miss a beat. The food was wonderful and presented beautifully. The four course meal was perfect. Our server, William, noticed every time I moved. He would push my chair in for me after returning from the restroom. The hostess was just as attentive and gracious.

Staff was amazing, I traveled here for my birthday and they make me feel very welcome, I had a very nice expensive bottle of champagne it was chill to perfection, the cook on my steak was perfect, Luis the manager is so sweet and so commandeering so is the rest of the staff, I recommend this restaurant to anyone that is traveling or staying at the Vanderbilt.

The culinary experience at 1919 was beyond anything we could have expected. We booked the reservation without much expectation and we’re thrilled that we lucked in to the experience. The restaurant and hotel were so beautiful. The ambiance inside the restaurant was very romantic. On the particular night that we went they were hosting a Taste of Empire Event with a special menu and wine pairing. I was a bit anxious as I know their pre-fix menu has a lot of options and I have some dietary restrictions but the staff and chef were exceptional with making accommodations. It was my birthday and they went above and beyond making me feel special. The service over all was Five Star. I work in luxury resorts and I would truly have to say that Joshua and his team are true hospitality professionals. All courses were so delicious and unique. The wines paired perfectly with the flavors of the dishes making it such a lovely culinary experience. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a very memorable night. Thank you to all of the staff for making it a night we will never forget!
My husband and I celebrated my birthday and had an amazing time. The restaurant featured a special “Taste of the Empire” menu with dishes and wine pairings from Austria and Hungary. Everything was delicious! We could tell the chef had earned his Michelin star.

It’s obvious that the food here is a 10/10 being a Michelin star restaurant but the experience was truly made special by Raul and Josh. They were incredibly attentive to our needs, helped us build a delicious menu, get the perfect bottle of wine and even gave us an anniversary desert on the house. This was my first Michelin Star experience and it was everything I had imagined it would be.

Amazing restaurant! Service was spectacular. William and Georgi were very kind and had great recommendations. We had the prix fixe menu. Heirloom tomato salad and lobster salad were fresh and delicious. Soft shell crab is to die for. The rib eye and swordfish seals the deal. We will be back!
My wife and I decided to have our anniversary dinner at 1919 and it was an excellent choice. The decor and ambiance were fantastic and the food was delicious. However, the best part of the experience was the impeccable service that we received. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and treated with the utmost courtesy and hospitality.
All the staff was very professional and responsive, but we were primarily served by William and Jorge. I cannot say enough good things about them. Simply put, the service they provided was exceptional. These two deserve to be recognized by their leadership for their phenomenal work.
Without reservation, I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an upscale dining experience while in San Juan. And if my wife and I are in San Juan again, we will be certain to dine here once more (and we hope that William and Jorge will be our servers again).
