In short... horrible service and the scallops were filled with sand ... when I mentioned the scallops had grit.. the server, Raul, grabbed my plate and walked away like a petulant child with no acknowledgement of my disappointment.

Dinner for two with tip and a “lower priced” rose: $425. Which would have been fine if each of the 8 courses was amazing. But the scallop was fishy, the cavatelli cold and the beef was pretty fatty. The dinner roll much like a supermarket version. Each course required two and sometimes three fresh utensils which struck us as pretty wasteful. The desserts were outstanding as was the service. The dining room and the lobby beautiful although a bit incongruous for a beach resort.

While the service was attentive and professional, they were very aggressive with alcohol sales. I told 3 different people no to wine or another cocktail. We were the second reservation at 6pm and had the chef’s pre fixe 5 course for $95, but for some reason they told me they were out of lobster ragu that came in the cavatelli and instead gave me pesto which is NOT a comparable substitution and was too salty. We were charged $30 extra for the wagyu course that was extremely fatty, and the $14 charge for still water was Evian, not even Aqua Pana. There were little delights, like the gazpacho amuse and mussel amuse, the pana cotta palette cleanser before dessert, and the little banana bread to go. We loved our experience overall. The food was well prepared despite the critiques.

Where do I begin ... first of all when we booked this reservation the menu showed as PreFix $75 or $30-50 regular menu ... completely acceptable for a 5 star hotel restaurant ... upon confirmation I was told special PreFix menu for Valentines Day ... no problem ... we received our bill ... $485!!! So not only was the cost almost double $130 for the prefix (which is the easiest of easy - no real work required from the guest or the staff - everyone is getting EXACTLY the same thing) ... for two of us 20% gratuity added automatically - what incentive does that give the wait staff to provide excellent service and $95 for wine pairing and $14 for WATER !!!
Upon arrival our reservation was not in their system despite me showing them our open table app with the info .. we were eventually seated ...
The food was fairly delicious - especially the 1 ravioli - with the exception of the MahiMahi - very bland .. excited for the filet but ... the filet itself was flavorless and was a tiny slice of meat ... I wish I could attach pics of our meal ... bottom line .. we have eaten in some pretty incredible restaurants and had some most amazing meals for much less money - this was NOT one of them ... save yourself the time and money and head to Marmalade in Old San Juan - now that is a meal you will never forget! Also VERY loud ... we felt as if we were yelling at each other to have a conversation

I’ve eaten here before, but the Valentine dinner this year was a bit off. The main dishes were not served at the correct temperature (filet was less than warm, as was the fish). Sevice as always was great, but for the price, I expected more.

We ate at 1919 on Valentine’s Day with a set menu of $130 pp. The place is beautiful, with wonderful service. The fish courses were delicious. The filet mignon was very tender, but a bit too salty. The dessert of white chocolate mousse with strawberries was a big disappointment. We felt it was overpriced for what we got. In addition when we have had set menus at other restaurants, there has always been a choice, especially for the dessert.

When I made the reservation I stated that it was my friends birthday . When we arrived I also mentioned that it was her birthday to the host . When we ordered her dessert there was no candle . So we improvised by using the table candle . The waiter watched and then remembered to come over with her candle which was to late.

We are return visitors to 1919 and have enjoyed each time. This night was a wine dinner with Banfi.. great food and wine pairings with warm service.. a terrific night

Very nice setting for a quiet, intimate dinner. Wait staff was very professional and the food was delicious and well prepared. The cost is a little pricey but that is known in advance. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice, quiet couple dinner.

My husband is vegan and they accommodated his dietary needs t perfection! They offered so many specials touches and just when we were thinking what else could they do, they gave us a loaf of fresh baked banana bread to take home! The food and service were awesome! We will be back!

We have been to 1919 numerous times over the last 7 years and it is always outstanding. Food, ambience, wine list and attentive service are all superb. This is comparable to the finest restaurants in New York and London which we go to. 10 stars!!

It's an experience for sure. Asked if we could meet chef Jose, he came right out and shook our hands! The food was very good, tiny portions on the 4 course wine pair menu. A little tricky, some of the better choices on the menu had an upcharge and other menu items were only avail if you chose to go the a la carte route. Wasn't happy about that but for $500 both of us fully enjoyed the 5 star pampering instead of catering to 3 starving rambunctious children. Nicely done 1919

Excellente!! Exceptional! We adored our waiter, Ivan! Everyone was wonderful. Received loaves of banana bread to take home as a gift for our breakfast.

Hotel with high style but lacked the warm ambiance I hoped for. I think it caters more to business clients. For example the wine list was on an iPad.
They provided lots of treats from two amuse bouche to a special anniversary desert treat and cake to take away which was wonderful.
My pork belly salad was delicious except the salad was swamped with sauce.
It was a great dinner experience which you expect for the price but not as good as Niche or Marmalade which were superlative

My husband and I eat here every time we visit San Juan. We look forward to a great meal. Last night there was a party of 8 that arrived. Their table was near ours. For some reason it had to be reconfigured. Rather than having the 8 patrons wait up front, they stood over and around our table, talking and having a great time, while we were having our meal. I told someone who works at the restaurant that it was very disturbing. Nothing was done to move them....and then more people joined them.
It made a very good meal very unpleasant.

We were greeted with a warm friendly smile. The room was beautiful. Tables spaced nicely apart for private conversation. The menu was varied and had great options. I loved loved loved the Tuna Tartar and bread pudding dessert!

We were on vacation in San Juan and were anxious to try this place based on food offerings and great reviews. We enjoyed the atmosphere, beautiful food and evening. Our initial waiter was a bit abrupt whenever he came to the table. No cordial greeting or acknowledgement. This continued throughout our interaction with him. All other support staff were most welcoming and courteous. The waiter made the experience less than five star.
