Food was still great but many dishes seemed to us to have way too many ingredients, often with a seemingly incongruous citrus note.

Great ambience for the holiday season! The local ingredients really make a great mushroom soup. Presentation is beautiful, and cocktails creative for the season.

Meal was very good. The only negative was the poached pear dessert which was cold. I was hoping for a nice warm poached pear on a cold day. Tasted like buy, refrigerate, serve. Certainly didn't taste freshly made. Need a dessert chef.

During our "Women's Winter Get-away" to Longwood Gardens, we dined at 1906. The restaurant was decorated for the holiday which provided strong ambiance. The menu contained moderate to high prices depending upon what you ordered. Since Kennett Square is the mushroom capital of the world, I had to order the creamy mushroom soup which was delicately flavored with mushroom and spices. Popovers were served in small "flower-pot" ramikens and were absolutely outstanding in fluffiness and taste. We all enjoyed the steak filet over lightly flavored horse-radish mashed potatoes. Speciality wines were offered as a tasting; they could be purchased with your meal. Of course, you are always too full for dessert, but complementary peppermint/chocolate bark was presented along with coffee.
The service staff was attentive to your needs, and were educated on the the menu choices. They were friendly and welcoming.
If you are going to Longwood Gardens, and it might be your only time, enjoy the special dining. It's worth it.

I have eaten here many times, but one of my guests never had. The server was very young, perhaps new, but he was unaware of the quality of the wine to be offered. He was quite reticent to let us taste more than one offering. The popovers were divine as usual, my black bass was very good and a nice portion, but it was not available until after I ordered the pasta. Can’t figure that out? My guests are vegetarians and ordered a new entree called oatsotto. They thought it was tasty, bufit was old when it came to the table. Rather embarrassing. They sent it back to warm. By the time it came out again , I was finished with my meal, and I don’t eat fast. To make up for the mistake we were competed afancycandiedapole to share. Nice gesture, but our 2 pm lunch went on for 2 hours?

Coming to 1906 for lunch during the Longwood Christmas display is an annual event for me and my daughter. As have experienced in the past, the service and the food were exceptional. We each had the burger special which had blue cheese, lettuce, tomato and bacon on a soft roll. They were prepared to our specifications and were of excellent quality. We split an appetizer of a mushroom gratin with crostini. It was delicious. As always, mushrooms at Longwood are the best, due to the fact that they are grown locally. We also always enjoy a speciality drink. My daughter had the poinsettia (champagne and cranberry juice) and I had a hot spiked cider. The bar at 1906 never disappoints. Thanks for another lovely memory of a mother/daughter get together.

Great venue and worth the two hour drive when coupled with the festive Christmas display across the walk. Wish we could have stayed for dinner and the evening show. Maybe next time.

Atmosphere was nice. Outside seating was a little chilly, but it was a very cold day.
Food was creative and different. Desserts looked amazing.
Burger was over done for medium /well, no pink at all.
Waitress was attentive and responsive to our needs.

Some of the menu options are a bit too trendy for some tastes (example: adding horseradish to mashed potatoes is a good way to ruin mashed potatoes). Is porridge (Oatsotto) the best vegetarian option you can come up with?. The prices seem ridiculously high ($55 per person for leg of lamb for 2, which is really $110). Or were prices increased for the Christmas season? Everyone in our party of four was happy with their menu choices, although I chose a salad and crabcake appetizer because none of the dinner entrees appealed to me, because most had one or two items I was not sure I wanted, and I am really not a picky eater. Seating was a bit crowded, with the staff having a hard time getting to the table behind us. In the past, we have always been very pleased with 1906 and considered it a special occasion restaurant. We will likely go again, but only after looking at menu options and prices ahead of time.

We (my wife and I) dined at 1906 for a special outing with a friend. The ambiance was exceptional and the service was just super - "Kara" was our attendant wait staff. She was knowledgeable, unobtrusive, present to us without interference in our visit with our friend.
The food was very good (but we thought a bit pricey) and the wine excellent.
1906 is definitely a restaurant for a special outing.

While the food was relatively good, the service was less than acceptable. The staff needs to learn the meaning of "hospitality" since that is the industry in which they work! The hostess acted annoyed that we arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation even though the restaurant was not yet busy. Our server offered to answer any questions we might have about the menu but when my elderly companion inquired about several entrees the server gave terse , incomplete descriptions and spoke down to my friend as if the information should be obvious. I explained we were at Longwood to celebrate my friend's 80th birthday figuring that would garner some excitement or at the least, compassion but no response. Shame!!! The rest of service was slow and mediocre until the check came at which time the server perked up and was quite quick to pick up my signed receipt. We left disappointed and no one ever acknowledged our departure in any way. No "Thank you, please come back" or even a "Happy Holidays". I will not be returning to 1906 during my future trips to Longwood Gardens. We will dine away from the Gardens and recommend others do the same!

This restaurant is at Longwood gardens and is therefore convienient when visiting the conservatory and grounds. It is expensive. The alternative, the cafeteria, is also somewhat expensive and seating there is often hard to get during Longwood Christmas. So we reserved the 1906. I reserved at least 2 weeks in advance. I was not pleased to be seated next to the open doorway. The restaurant was fully booked so we couldn't sit at a better placed table. Our filet mignons were excellent and correctly cooked. Lamb at 55.00 per person seems high priced. I am not sure I would go back. Perhaps better to visit Longwood and try a nice restaurant nearby.

We sat on the heated patio and loved how cozy and warm it was; it was very cold after it snowed. The soups were delicious and the cheese plate was exceptional. I dine here as often as possible. Excellent food and service!

When I booked the reservation the only table available was for outside. I have to say, the outside is completely tented and was warm and cozy! Our server was professional and very pleasant. My only issue is I do think their menu prices are a bit high but it is always a lovely place for lunch or dinner when visiting Longwood Gardens.

I expected an average meal as is typical of restaurants at a place like this. Well, we had a FANTASTIC dinner!
We had the pork chop. I never had a better one. Lovely presentation. Wine was top shelf. Server was great. Seemed to work as a team.
Now I must dine here each time I visit Longwood Gardens.
By the way- we dined "outdoors". Screened in, perfect temperature, nice view. I recommend it.

The only problem we had is that it took so long for us to be served. There seemed to have been confusion ab out whether we were eating appetizers or having more than one course. for some reason, even though we all ordered from the appetizer menu as our meal, one woman was served 40 minutes before the rest of us because she had also ordered a salad. Then after we asked, and after an hour we were finally all served our dish.

We were three friends at 1906 to celebrate a birthday after two hours walking around the Longwood Garden grounds after dark to see the Christmas light show and throughout the Conservatory. We who were treating would never choose a restaurant as expensive as 1906 except for a special occasion, and unavoidably in any such venue we have a critical eye out for flaws or other reasons to feel we aren't getting our (extravagant) money's worth. The service was flawless and friendly, the menu imaginative, and the food tasty, well-prepared, and well-presented. Good beer and wine selection. Earnest readiness to make reasonable adjustments to food items to accommodate dietary restrictions. Pleasant atmosphere. One vegan appetizer option and one vegan main course option; the latter was interesting and delicious. But no vegan dessert option. Despite that one minor omission, dinner was altogether an excellent experience. No regrets. (That's high praise in this case.)

What a great idea for longwood gardens to finally add food and drinks to the garden experience. It was amazing to eat partially in the Forrest in a heated beautifully decorated tent, among trees decorated for the holiday. After dinner grab a spiked hot coco and take a walk around the flowers.

Always awesome, we eat here every Christmas season. I wish I could afford more than once a year. Totally treated like first class by the staff. It’s all I ask for every year! My day at the Gardens followed by dinner at the fancy restaurant! It’s about 25 years and I can’t remember a bad experience.

It was a lovely night, food overall very good, our waitress was excellent ~ friendly and very competent, gracious

The only disappointment was my dessert. I love Gingerbread and was looking forward to having the Gingerbread with a Poached Pear and Orange Butter Sauce

The Gingerbread was tiny, no more than 5 bites ~ if I had wanted 5 bites. It was very dry. And there wasn't enough Orange Butter Sauce to moisten it. The little pear was darling and very good, butoverall the dessert was a big disappointment for the price.

When I told our waitress, she was very quick and gracious to have the manager remove it from our bill, which left a lasting good impression, and was appreciated.
