Excellent wine list. Freshly baked rolls were wonderful. The Express Lunch feature allowed a sampling of soup, salad, entree and dessert -- just the right-size meal.

The dining room was beautiful and customer friendly. Tables spaced you could manover easily through them. Hostess gracous, friendly, and considerate. Chief special, outstanding. Server was alright. I feel it's rude of anyone to turn their back to someone speaking to them before they have finished what it is they are saying. He seemed to be more concerned about getting to another table and as a result did not pay attention to what I was saying. All in all our experience was good and we will come back to your restaurant again.
I especially liked the ease and convience of making a reservation on line and having that reservation confirmed and followed through with by your restaurant.

We enjoyed dinner at 1906. It was fun seeing the lit up trees while we ate. The food was great! We started with the lobster fondue; it was delicious. We had the crab and pasta special, the crab cakes, and the steak and all gave our meals two thumbs up. We were too full to try out dessert, but it looked wonderful!

The seating was prompt, but not rushed. The staff were all friendly. The menu had a wonderful selection, with much variety. The food was the highlight, with much attention to detail and uniqueness of flavors, the mushroom soup being the best I've experienced. We ate in the dining room, and were pleased with the decorations, quietness, and overall comfort. Desert and lattes completed a perfect meal. The mid-afternoon lunch provided the perfect break in our day at Longwood Gardens.

This was my 2nd year eating at 1096 after viewing the holiday lights. Once again dinner was superb. We arrived early for our reservation an chose to take a ready table out on the closed in patio rather than waiting. While not a nice as sitting inside, it was fine to eat on the patio.

Even though it is the holiday season, we were seated immediately even though we arrived a little early. Server was attentive without being overbearing. Food was excellent particularly the filet migon which was cooked to perfection. I wouldn't say is was dark and romantic but it was definitely comfortable and plesant to sit and talk with our guests. At Christmas time the outdoor lited trees were visable. A lovely evening.

Waitress inattentive. Steak not done as requested. Never came to ask about how order came out.
1906 is not the restaurant it once was. There are now better alternatives close to the Gardens

Love this spot! The food was exceptional and the service was attentive. Everything, including the bread served in a petite flower pot, is just beautiful to look at. Often, the chef sends out a "little surprise" something or other just for fun! The prices are good for the quality and quantity of food. The wine list and the cocktails are very good as well. Make sure to have the Kennett Square mushroom soup and save room for one of their lovely desserts. Be sure to make reservations as this place is popping!

Dining here was a lovely experience. We are members at Longwood Gardens and have eaten in the cafe many times, but this was our first time in 1906 restaurant. The seasonal salad with whole cranberries and pine nuts over mixed greens was delicious. My husband and I both enjoyed the excellent crab cakes over a wonderful lime slaw. Tiny roasted brussel sprouts were crunchy and sweet. Love the individual brioche baked in their own little plant pots! The service was prompt and cheerful; our server, Alex, was really great...efficiant and personable. I look forward to going back!!

Longwood is a magical place to begin with and features quality in everything they undertake. Food in this restaurant is no exception. The salmon and the gingersnap ice cream were gourmet of the highest order. Could not have been more pleased with the meal.
Although our waitress was good, the helper was not and we had to ask for things many more times than once. Waitress was busy, but did check on us, albeit infrequently.

My husband and I enjoyed our dining experience at the 1906 Restaurant. The food and drinks were wonderful. Our waitress, Ashley, took good care of us and even laughed at my husbands jokes. The surroundings, of course, are beautiful, especially when the Christmas lights came on.

Merry Christmas to everyone there!

The 1906 restaurant is very elegant and overlooks the Longwood Gardens. On a very foggy day such as the one when we dined there, it was a warm and inviting dining room; we could tell that the view on a sunny day would be lovely. The express lunch was very tasty and since it all is delivered at once, it helps leave more time to explore the other attractions of the Longwood Gardens. The soup was particularly delicious, and our server, Carol, was extremely cheerful and capable. We would go there again.

1906 is a wonderful restaurant to enjoy a special meal for any special occasion. The food and presentation are impeccable and everyone is very professional and courteous. Our reserved table was not ready for us at the specified time, since the previous seated patrons were still enjoying their dessert. The hostess brought me out to a table available for us that was in their "outside" dining area to see if we would like that table instead or we still had the option to wait for our reserved table. We chose the table "outside" and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It felt like you were dining in the trees!!! Our group of 5 each enjoyed everything we ordered and we were not rushed and enjoyed a leisurely lunch.

We were very impressed with the service. We had to wait quite a while for a table, mostly because we were early for our reservation, then had to wait about 20 minutes past the reservation time. The hostess came out twice to apologize for the wait, and to let us know the status of the table being readied for us. The server was very attentive, and offered us a complimentary dessert because of the wait. We declined this, as the food was so great and after finishing the entree there was no more room. We didn't feel there was any need for more recompense, but they took 10% off the bill anyway. I can't remember the last time I was so well treated at a restaurant.
