1900 Mexican Grill- Elizabeth Avenue
This restaurant is rarely crowded when we go for early dinner. My husband and I have never had a bad meal. It's excellent Mexican food at reasonable prices. We should really come here more often! I highly recommend.
6 of the 7 had good meals. One person specifically asked about spices in any part of the menu item being selected because that they have an autoimmune disease not permitting them to eat any spicy food. The server indicated that there were no spices in the item being ordered, but the dish proved to be inedible.
We had a large group they were able to accommodate and our server was excellent. The food was delivered timely and accurately
The restaurant was incredibly hot and we were all miserable while we ate. Drinks and queso were fantastic! Everything else was just ok.
The atmosphere felt authentic and the food was very good. The price was also very reasonable, especially for the portion size, and they have a very good white queso, which I always enjoy having at Mexican restaurants. I would eat at 1900 again and highly recommend it.
Great food, exceptional service!
The food’s good. The Salmon Tamarind was perfect - cooked all the way through & with light sauce for flavor. However, dinner started a bit rocky when we ordered the Tableside Guacamole app: We thought it would be made at the table. She started preparing it at the bar & added salt. When she brought it to us, we told her that we can’t eat salt & she seemed peeved. She took it back to the bar area & started preparing another one by adding lime & then bringing it to us. We order Tablesiide Guac partly for the fun of watching it be made & partly to influence the ingredients. Our previous visits have been great. We think (hope) this weird service issue was an anomaly
First time visiting after receiving recommendation from a friend. Would return again now that I know where to park. The parking lot next to restaurant was less than expected but was at least close. Music played in restaurant wasn’t coinciding with the ambience- yet was over looked once seated. Food/drinks were good. A little pricey overall for the menu items.
We arrived early in the evening for pre-concert food and margaritas, and the dining room was about a quarter full. Despite this, it still took about 10 minutes to get a round of drinks after ordering them. The food was pretty good, though I do wish they would return to the way they used to make queso. It is pretty generic now. Service got worse and worse as the restaurant filled up more, though it really looked like they had an adequate number of servers. I dont know if they are really bad at time management or what, but at one point both bartenders were helping on the floor. After flagging down the server and requesting a last round of drinks and our check, making it clear we were trying to catch the next streetcar, we still sat and sat. Got drinks but no checks, even though we had credit cards out and ready to go. Missed the streetcar. To make matters worse, and what aggravated me the most, the drinks were weak. The house Cadillac margs were $3 more for a grand marnier float added, and there was no discernible liquor added (it is red-orange and the drink was just a cloudy yellow). I also ordered a guava margarita and the glass was packed so full of ice the drink was literally five sips. Yes, I counted. Unacceptable.
Went with girlfriends for Margarita Day... no specials for Margarita Day. Took fire for server to come to table. Friday night and only one bartender so service was very slow. Food was good but could tell was not served as soon as was ready because temperature of food wasn’t very hot. Probably won’t be back.
We enjoyed the entire ambiance of your restaurant.. We had a very nice server and she was very friendly.. We will definitely be back soon...
Great place for a fabulous meal, great atmosphere and staff
This was my third visit over approx the past two years. Each time I've been under-wowed by everything. The service was mediocre at best, and the food decent (better than last time, but nothing noteworthy). The cocktails literally tasted like they had zero alcohol in them (and I'm not one to prefer an overly strong drink). We only stopped in again as it was close by, but wish we had picked another restaurant along Elizabeth. Very doubtful I'll return.
This was my second and final time at 1900 Mexican Grill. Even though the restaurant was only 1/2 full tThe service was spotty and everyone in our party was disappointed in their food. My mole enchiladas weren't prepared properly, just some chicken thrown in a tortilla and folded in half (not even wrapped correctly) with an absurd amount of sauce dumped on top. Every plate looked like the food had just been tossed together with zero attention. Waters weren't refilled and the second appetizer we ordered never came, despite reminding our server after 15 minutes. Very disappointing, particularly because we had brought friends from out of town. Will not be returning.
This is the best place to go for authentic Mexican food. I've been several times and have never been disappointed. The best Sangria!
We went out for dinner and were surprised to see all the 4 top tables in the restaurant turned into 3 long tables full of children. We didn’t know there was a cheerleading competition in town that weekend. Clearly, they were overbooked and under staffed. Our waitress rushed us through with our ordering and was very inattentive after that. They we’re so busy with the super large parties that we were an after thought. The noise in the restaurant was deafening and we had to try to grab our waitress to get any help, even to pay our bill. I understand restaurants can’t turn down big parties but please have the correct staffing in place. I shouldn’t have to beg a waitress to let us pay our bill.
Felt the food was of reasonable value. The food had excellent taste and well proportioned. Our servers were very attentive and efficient. Nice enjoyable meal.
Group of 8 new and old friends had a great dinner before going to a show at the Visulite Theater
Great service and the food and drinks were great! Carmen was our server and she was outstanding!
Horrible food. Bad service. Waiter couldn’t even pronounce the items on the menu. Disgusting food.
Food is always good. Service stunk. Our server was not attentive. We had to ask another server for our bill. The restaurant was not busy.
Service was really good and everyone was friendly... Had a lot of seating available when we went... 6pm on a Thursday
Everything was great we had a good time. Food was good and prepared fast. The drinks were ok they could have been a little stronger. Our waitress was great she didn't do too much but just enough. Loved that! Great place!
The food and ambiance were great. The service however, TERRIBLE!! We made a reservation ahead of time, arrived and our table wasn't set yet. Then, the waiter we got was extremely lazy and seemed annoyed to have to take everyone's order. He would take 3 people's order and walk away from the table... We had to keep flagging him down and yelling out for him because he would walk right past us and deliberately ignore us. It was not a busy night, there were only a couple of other tables and all of small groups (couples). We were the only large group and had let them know days in advance when the reservation was made, so the waiter's behavior/attitude was completely unacceptable. Unfortunate, because the food was great!!
The service started out good but as people started arriving it got worse and worse....coffee never came and I finally chased down the server to get the check. Quacgamolue was good but the tacos were pretty bad...watery chicken and not much condiments. Ambience was pleasant and its proximity to Legion Memorial Stadium makes it a good pre-event choice IF you have plenty of time.
We had a wonderful time as a family celebrating being together at 1900 Mexican Grill - Elizabeth Avenue, especially when the man playing guitar played some songs that we could sing and whistle with him.
Staff weren’t very interested. Were very slow even though it was a quiet night.
Great place all the way around! We especially enjoyed the table-side fresh made guacamole!
1900 Mexican Grill is a great value all the way around, in a fun atmosphere! We have been several times in the past and will return again!
Service was terrible and the food was possibly the worst Mexican I have ever had.
Our server, Orange, was great! She really took care of my friends and I and we’ll definitely be coming back again!
Luchador as a logo was all we needed to go in, inside we found a nice restaurant -- very friendly and helpful staff. Our waitress (Orange was her name) made good recommendations and we ate well. We liked it so much that we stopped in for a drink just before closing, since the Matthew Sweet concert was surprisingly brief. If you are in the area, 1900 is worth checking out.
Had been to the other location of this restaurant, which is busier. This location seems more spacious and was pretty quiet on Sunday afternoon. Food is good, very generous portions. Service was competent & friendly.
The food was okay and not expensive. We had theatre tickets, I told the server and asked if she could help to ensure we got out quickly. She was slow. Did not come around to ask if everything was okay. And I don't like the idea that an 18% tip is mandatory. Tippping is supposed to be a voluntary gesture, depending on the service. We were rushed to leave, so I did not have time. Had I not been rushed, I would have marked out the 18% tip and left 10% as a way of indicating to the server our table was not happy. We did make it to the theatre on time. BARELY.
Everything was really, really good and we had a great time!!
Only down side was the rest room. Previous Rest Room (RR) patron left an open take out box with some tortilla chips in it on the floor next to the toilet. When staff was notified, RR wasn't cleaned up quickly. I find this embarrassing for the restaurant and gross for the patrons.
The wait staff kept their distance where appropriate to let us enjoy the food and have a conversation but they were absent when we needed drinks and the check. The food was good but I felt like it was a bit overpriced. Would recommend to someone but not sure I’ll be back.
Our dinner went from bad to worse as time went on. Our food was bad, we were left with empty glasses--nothing to drink the entire meal.. and then 45 minutes to get out the check. When we finally got the servers attention to ask why we hadn't received it he said it was a tough night.. I've been to 1900 on multiple occasions but will not be returning to this location.
No avacados so no guacamole?!?
That’s one reason we went..to get the table side made guacamole. !
The caso dip was really good though
We were looking forward to a nice dinner before a show at the Spectrum Center. Ordered a mixed jalapeño margarita which was good but small at $10. I had the vegetarian burrito which was basically sautéed onions and peppers and some retried beans. Was bland and had really no taste. The wife had the chicken fajitas and had the exact same thing in my burrito with exception of the chicken. My plate had the burrito and a spoonful of what appeared to be coleslaw which I took one taste of and never went back to. No rice or beans, etc... very sad presentation . I left food on the plate which was rare and left hungry. Just was not good. Others at our table had same thoughts on the food. For the price and quality, would certainly go elsewhere for dinner.
Food was great but the service was slow and practically non existent. Not flexible whatsoever, tried to add to our reservation and were told they were booked yet the table that was next to us went empty the whole time we were there. Very disappointed and wouldn't recommend, we were there for over 2 hours....for dinner.
Music too loud. Food mediocre .... bland and terrible chips.
Nice view of Uptown from some tables.
