About 18th & Vine Barbeque
18th & Vine BBQ – an upscale Kansas City barbeque, full-service restaurant and bar. A portion of the menu offers traditional Kansas City barbeque plates while the other is a selection of seasonal, composed chef-created dishes. Pit master Matt Dallman with award-winning chef Scott Gottlich have developed a unique menu in a comfortable yet casually chic environment. Traditional Kansas City BBQ is available for those interested in a pure barbeque experience. However, the collaboration between Dallman and Gottlich combines talents and knowledge of a classically trained chef with a self-taught pit master to push the boundaries of what can be accomplished with smoke and other barbeque techniques.
18th & Vine BBQ is open daily for lunch and dinner. A quaint upstairs bar/live music venue (The Roost) offers a separate bar experience/menu and open every night. The entire space is 3400 square feet with 100 seats downstairs in the main dining area and 30 seats upstairs at The Roost.

18th & Vine Barbeque Ratings and Reviews
The staff was very pleasant 100% of the time.
The food was great (especially the Brussels sprouts), and I really liked the atmosphere. The restaurant is well maintained and clean.
Our server that night knew very little about what was on the menu, and ended up giving us misinformation on multiple occasions.
Not only would I go back, but I hope this place continues to see success. It’s the kind of interesting place that Dallas needs more of.
Everything about this experience was great which is why I was a repeat customer. Parking was easily accessible; immediate seating (both times-lunch and dinner); nice menu selection, quick friendly service, hot food that tasted good and reasonable prices with generous servings. What more can you ask for?
I know they were short handed but service was slow but overall the whole staff pitched in to serve us. My suggestion would have asked to wait in the bar to give the server a chance to catch up. Overall I loved it and will return again and again.
Excellent authentic Kansas City BBQ in the heart of Dallas.
We had a little of this and a little of that including: burnt ends, brisket, turkey and ribs.
Everything was outstanding! I was a little disappointed in the burnt ends, but willing to give them a shot again!.
While nearing the end of a business trip to Dallas, I could not fathom another hotel meal and opted for some barbecue...and what a great call I made.
My Uber driver told me this quaint establishment is in uptown, a clearly trendy, upscale area. The restaurant looks more like a repurposed home than a commercial operation, with the wooden tables and benches outside a welcome affirmation that I had found the right place. I was early for my reservation and still had to wait as the place looked packed, even on an early summer Tuesday evening.
Dinner started with a delicious and not too light draft Golden Mustache, a local lager brewed by Oak Highlands Brewery. I ordered a plate of smoked brisket and sausage, accompanied by Brussel sprouts.
The brisket was marbled, which enhanced exquisite flavor. Tender and succulent, the house BBQ sauce accented the meat perfectly. The sausage was homemade, with a hint of peppers that put the spice level just north of mild. The Brussel sprouts were grilled to the outsides were crispy...and no doubt the best Brussel sprouts into which this foodie has ever stuck a fork.
Hungry for dessert, I skipped the sugar and went back for a half pound of slow cooked pulled pork. My server Samantha put a bottle of vinegar-based North Carolina BBQ sauce in front of me and told me that I needed to try that sauce with the pork. And what a spectacular recommendation! I savored that meat until the very last shred!
By the way, the service was top-shelf. The servers were professional, polite and attentive without being hovering. A+.
18th and Vine was so good it will be a mandatory stop on my next trip to Dallas. It's upscale, creative and value-laden...with food that I found exceptional.
18th and Vine closes at 9pm (Weeknights). I made (and showed up to) a reservation at 10pm. Then, could not change my reservations because I had to call the restaurant (which, again, is not open at 10pm). Be advised-restaurant info is not accurate. Sorry for the poor rating-but I was left stranded in a dark parking lot because of this oversight.
Matt and his staff were amazing as always with their authentic Kansas City bbq offerings. Met two colleagues for a business lunch at 18th&Vine and was not disappointed. Will be frequenting more often, and booking this venue for future group events. Burnt ends insanely good...get them early and often.
Burnt ends pieces had lots of fat on them, 4$ upcharge for substitute on 2 que plate already at $18 seemed a bit much and unnecessary. Overall, food was tasty, enjoyable meal, a little on the pricey side for value received.
It started off pretty well, but then took a turn for the worse. Our server was sat 2 tables at once, right next to each other, us being first. The table that was sat after us seemed to get all of his attention. Our appetizer came before our drinks, I ordered a salad that never came and no one in our party wanted to get a second round of drinks because we just wanted to get out of there. It seemed as though we were bothering our server when we needed anything. Watching him with his other table was a bit frustrating because it seemed like he was really enjoying being their server, but we were bugging him. 3 out of the 4 people in the party are in the service industry, 2 of us being General Managers so we usually don't let anything like this bother us. The only reason this was super disappointing is that we brought our friends visiting from California here because we had heard nothing but great things about this place. My boyfriend and I live in Dallas and said we probably won't return.
