1884 Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
The problem with 1884 is it lacks consistency! Our waitress yesd us to death but forgot to deliver-the manager is wonderful & covered for her! My pasta dish with blackened shrimp was delicious, lobster roll was good but the French fries were cold once again! Please improve 1884 as I would love to have a local great restaurant to go to!!!
Booked this reservation via Open Table, as I have done dozens of times. The receptionist had no record of the reservation and was unwilling to look on the computer, which required a 4 second walk. It took 20 minutes for a server to take our drink menu and the food was marginal to average at best. I will never go to this restaurant again.
Four of us had dinner at 1884 in Eustis. We were seated immediately. The restaurant was moderately busy. The server said she was new, but she was efficient and very friendly. Our group ordered the stuffed chicken breast, French cut pork chop (signature dish), fried pork chops, and the mahi mahi. All of us enjoyed our meals. The person with the mahi mahi said he would have preferred the sauce on the side, but I noticed he belonged to the clean plate club anyway. If you like fried pork chops, they were crisp, not greasy and enormous. The sides were good, also. It was our first time and we will be back. It's also walking distance to the lake front where we enjoyed the Christmas lights.
Made reservations on open table through the website and when we arrived the hostess said they don’t have a computer so she was unable to see we had a reservation. Took 45min before we were seated. The bartender as well as our table server were very slow at greeting, taking orders and serving. The food was good but felt it was overpriced.
We ate at the bar. Appetizers took 45 minutes. The people next to us who came in before us never got their dinner. Bar tender said the kitchen was backed up and it would be another 45 minutes so he didn't charge them for their appy's. As they were leaving our dinners came out on top of our appy's. The dinners were dried out salmon and missing our vegetable which they had to bring out later. Awful and I spent $75.00 on a bottle of wine. Too bad that a place that nice in a beautiful town is so mismanaged.
We showed up for our reservation and were greeted with, you are not in the book. Which we replied we used open table about an hour and a half ago....Oh, once we open up, we do not check the computer for new reservations. We have another party infront of you amd it will be approx 15 mins..... After we were seated it took approx 90mins for our meal, app, salad and entree. Cannot say anything was memorable about the food or service. Our server was nice, just seemed slow. The resturant decor was interesting, enjoyed downtown Eaustis
The Resturant was very good! They were very busy with 2 birthday parties, and a wedding reception. The kitchen was backed up quite a bit! But the service and food was exceptional! It took awhile to get our meals but it was ell worth it! The staff kept apologizing, and always asking us if we needed anything. They have entertainment, and that was good as well. Will be going back soon!
Our first experience at 1884 Restaurant was very good. The staff was friendly and very accommodating to our group of 10 people, the food was well prepared and delicious and we enjoyed the variety! The specialty of the house (Pork chops) was as promised amazing.
Loved the grilled salmon too. Would definitely return! Arielle did well in meeting our needs.
Had a very bad experience. The manager was rude and the waiter was extremely rude to the point of being beligerent. Appetizers were good. Salad was good. Food was cold, pasta & fries,; wedge salad with blue cheese had no blue cheese dressing and at first was not even a wedge. Shortly after leaving 1884 we discussed the experience with several Eustis residents who were not surprised and recommended several other restaurants. Will never go back and will recommend others avoid 1884.
We made a reservation with open table. The reservation was confirmed & we were sent an e-mail with a reservation #. When we got there, on time, we were told that there was a waiting list! I told them that we had a reservation & would she like to see the e-mail. She said no. The only reservations written in her book were the people waiting like us. We found a table on our own at the bar area. Never again.
This restaurant was originally a clothing store in 1884. The did a good job at keeping alot of the
original brick walls and the food was good. Would recommend locals to try this place. They also bake their own desserts. The key lime pie was one of the best we have had.
Steak was ordered medium rare but came out closer to medium well. Manager immediately came to table and offered to replace, but I declined. Our drinks were comped and we were given cards for future free drinks on next visit. I have no complaints with the service or their response to a small problem.
Very large interior space, almost warehouse-like, but not unpleasant.
Interesting menu; but lacking seafood options. I had the roast beet salad with blue cheese crumbles (quite good), and the "pork wings", mini pork shanks. The pork shanks were overcooked and dry.
My wife had an unimpressive pasta dish that was cold when served. Manager took it off the bill, but we probably won't go back.
The food was good, not terrific at the prices paid. The service was slow to start but got better and better. Very noisy, but there does not appear to be a good acoustical solution. Felt bad for the singer since the noise level drowned out her performance.
Is there a dish we would want to come back for? Probably not.
We arrived for our reservation and we're seated within 5 minutes and had drinks within 10 and ordered our food at the same time. No appetizers just dinner. However we did not see our waitress again until we flagged her down so my husband could get another drink. We had to flag her down at least 2 more times to get our drinks refilled. At this time we asked about our dinner that had been ordered an hour ago and she said it was coming out next. We were concerned because our movie started at 9ish. About a half an hour more passed and someone from the kitchen brought out food that was not ours and of course he took it away quickly. At that point we flagged down our waitress again and asked for our drink bill because we needed to leave for our movie and we're starving since it had been almost 2 hours since we ordered our food. She said she would get our check right away. Another 10 minutes went by and still no check so my husband flagged down the manager. The manager told us no charge for our drinks and apologized for our 2 hour wait for food and asked us to please give them another try. I told her that I doubted we would because our time out and money are precious to us and that her restaurant wasted our special evening with only a sorry and a few free drinks and by a few I mean 3. The service and lack of respect for our valuable time disgusted me. Do not waste your special occasion on this place. It will surely be ruined and they won't care in the least.
Arrived fifteen minutes early and was seated, waitress arrived at table about fifteen minutes later and drinks arrived in five minutes, a little slow but okay so far. Drinks ran empty waiting on dinner which took an hour to arrive and was warm not hot. Drinks ran empty once again during dinner. Not sure what the problem was with promptness it seemed as if there were plenty of staff running around on the floor looking busy and the restaurant was not even full. Food quality was okay, don't plan on returning, overall experience was okay due to the building even though it needed a good dusting.
Food was a little above average. Veggies were served cold and service was uneven. My wife received her entre but no sides. Wait person had to return to kitchen to retrieve them. Then had to go back for utensils. Place was attractive and I'd give it another try
The management was very accommodating when vegetable came out over cooked--replaced it with perfectly cooked vegetable and a substitute. Food was very tasty, filet perfectly cooked to order and reasonably priced. Very pleasant server. The bakery looked like to die for, but we were too full. Next time dessert first!
My filet was perfect. My grandson loved his filet and double order of French fries. The fries are superb. My backed potato was old and yellow. My fault for not sending it back. This was my 5th visit and first time I had a bad potato. Great fresh salad.
My advice. On website place your reservation and go kinda early. This place gets really busy
