Pretty decor and view, but food lacked flavor. I expect a filet for $60 to taste good. Nothing was bad, but the $160 we spent for the two of us to have a nice dinner it was way over priced. Our seats were great looking out at the water, but we had them taking out garbage and putting all
The dirty dishes next to us. This ruined it for me.

I was craving lake perch. You will not be disappointed. Beautiful view of the lake and gorgeous restaurant. A bit overpriced. Only for a special occasion.

This was a great restaurant for our Anniversary dinner. The waiter was a little slow and didn't know the specials for the night nor was he quick on refilling our drinks. Other than that the food was great the prime rib was ok. We will be back

Best food we had on the island! Crab cakes were to die for! We had pasta special , Organic Scottish Salmon, and the Tomahawk Steak. The servings were very generous, and all were delicious! The view was breathtaking, and our server knowledgeable and delightful! Worth every penny!

Nice place. Good food and setting. Excellent badtender, "W.B." Rowdy Chicago to Mackinac sailors, who think they own the island, ruined the experience.

The food was good, however, the soup was overly seasoned. The view was absolutely beautiful and service was very good. The overall dining experience was good, EXCEPT both my husband and myself got sick from something in the meal. I am certain that it came from this meal, so I can not give a good review....

Overall, an excellent dining experience. DO NOT SIT OUTSIDE if winds are from the south/southwest (and most of the time, they are). The Island House has two hot stoves cooking smores for the kiddies (if the family buys the smores) and they will blow smoke and ash in your face all night. If winds are out of the South, sit inside (unless you want to smell like smoke all night). As for the restaurant, Excellent and attentive service. With our party of four, we each had hors doerves, salad, entree and shared 1 dessert. Portions are larger than expected for fine dining - salad and soup servings were larger than expected. I had peppered filet medallions and risotto as a special meal. It was excellent! Wine list is good. Quite a nice restaurant ! I simply hate the fact that the ambiance of an outdoor meal overlooking the harbor was ruined by these stupid smoke pots sitting outside, with a raging wood fire, billowing smoke onto the deck just for cooking smores (and I only saw one family cooking smores all night!!! I think the Owners of the Island House have lost their minds with this concept. Geez, give the kiddies milk and cookies and let them play croquet. The fire and smoke were ridiculous. I spent $300 for 4 people and would have thought the restaurant would be a larger money-maker than the smores. Go figure... There are other ways to create a family ambiance other than ruining one of the best views of the harbor in Mackinac! BTW, the view of the harbor from the deck is awesome.

We loved this place for our night out. Quiet, clean, very friendly staff. The food was great. Loved all of the white fish options. Clam chowder was great. LOVED our beet salad. The only downside to this entire experience was the dinner rolls. They appeared to be the same ones I could buy at the grocery store, on sale. I didn't finish it. All of the food we had was amazing and I loved this place. Great location. Great view. Wonderful ambiance. Why? Why do they skimp on the dinner rolls so that sticks out in my head? If you skip the rolls, you will not regret coming here!

My boyfriend and I had a date night here - the food was great! We had the filet, which was cooked to perfection. Our server was perfectly attentive, and the restaurant was in a beautiful hotel in beautiful Mackinac Island! We had a lovely evening, and will definitely return on our next trip. It was our best meal on the island!

Dinner was great. Grass fed burger with bacon and cheese is a must try. Truffle fries were good although have had better. Wife's perch was very good. Clam chowder was seriously the best I've had... and have had a lot, many at high end establishments so this is not coming from left field. It takes a lot to impress me frankly but this chowder hit the nail on the head. Good beer options for a place I didn't expect to have much of an offering in this regard... I had a milk stout from Austin Brothers, a brewery that rarely disappoints. Kids pizza was surprisingly good... not what we'd expect from a kids menu item. We skipped dessert in favor of fudge from Murdicks... the best. All in all, an easy 4 star rating, but not what I'd call 5 stars... takes a lot to make it to 5 stars in my books. Highly recommend this place if you are on the Island. Better than our experience at the Woods restaurant and great value for what you get considering the options on the island.

We can not say enough about the 1852 Grill Room. This was our first visit to Mackinac Island and we stayed at the Island House. We choose to dine at their restaurant. The service was outstanding, friendly and made our evening. Each course was served perfectly. We even took pictures. The bib wedge salad, was delicious, and topped with a crisp fresh onion ring. The prime rib melted in our mouths. We would return again, and very highly recommend this restaurant. We also enjoyed the atmosphere and the piano playing in the background.

We liked 1852 so much that we went back and ate there again the next night and both of us ordered the same meals. Enough said. We also happen to have waitresses both nights with the name Molly - whaaaaaaat!?!?! My wife ordered the Trout; Perch for me. Fantastic! Dan the Maitre D was engaging and accommodating. Will eat at 1852 on every future trip to The Island.

We sat outside and while it was slightly cool out they had heaters on the porch. We had a beautiful view of the water. We shared the chopped salad. Tomahawk steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Topped off our dinner with a hot fudge sundae. Great service. We wanted a nice relaxing evening and it was wonderful. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare. Greater then any steak house in the metro Detroit area !

My wife and I celebrated 45 years of marriage with a wonderful dinner at 1852 Grill Room. Our server, Molly, was excellent; attentive to our needs but not intrusive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The food was outstanding, with generous portions, but not too much. The piano was a very nice touch, and added to the whole experience. We will be back in October.
