Excellent Dinner for us..Great atmosphere...We had the spring rolls & filet mignon dinners and everything was beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked!
My husband and I celebrated at the 1852 Grill Room. The pianist helped to create an upscale, romantic vibe in the bar area and in the dining room. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The decor is colorful and fit in well with the hotel being a summer resort. The food was amazing. We had mussels to start, salad with fried goat cheese and clam chowder next and finished off our dinner with a tomahawk steak for two which was cooked exactly to our liking. We enjoyed a bottle of nice red wine from their wine list and finished off the evening with dessert martinis! We will not soon forget our evening and we will defiantly go back again!
This is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to - the food & service were impeccable and the view is amazing!
Highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed
Went to 1852 Grill Room for anniversary dinner with my wife. The atmosphere was very nice w/ a great view of the marina and Lake Huron. The pork schnitzel and spaetzle was amazing!
One of the better dining options on the Island. But as most things on the Island are, it's overpriced - however, it's the best overpriced option in the Island-city area.
A lovely evening with a Beautiful view! Enjoyed the fabulous meal served by Joshua, a very attentive and friendly waiter. The best part was the entertainment provided by the pianist John which added to our delightful visit!
Excellent filet and salmon. Desserts were excellent too. Service was top-notch. Decent bourbon selection.
It was good
We loved our dinner. The portions were huge! Great atmosphere and the view is amazing. Can't wait to go again!
Had our 50th anniversary dinner there. Menu was great, service excellent, enjoyed having Zack as our waiter. He took care of everything and was always ahead of any request we made. My wife said the clam chowder was the best she had ever had. Great experience on a cold evening on the island.
Dinner of a lifetime!!
Food was great view was beautiful!!
Can’t wait to get back there
This place has the ambition, but delivers only partly. The food was prepared very well and each individual part tasted good. However, in a place that claims to be upscale, combining breaded fried fish with something like a potato pancake (whatever it is called in the menu) is hardly a good idea. Fried should not go with fried - this is something even an amateur cook should know! The service also leaves much to be desired: they never properly arranged the table for me, so I had to move the bread plate on the other side and rearrange the knife and the fork. The waiter didn't bother to inform me about daily offers. However, everyone was very polite and welcoming. I enjoyed the dinner, and it wasn't too pricey. What this place lacks is style, not comfort.
Everyone was great accept they didn't have to the reservation my husband made for Saturday for our Anniversary or we would have went back a second time. We ended up going to another restaurant.
Our server was fantastic, food was amazing and it was an enjoyable birthday dinner.
My husband’s first visit to Mackinaw Island and it was our anniversary. The bar tender was very good. Knew how to make a sidecar and a negroni. Food was excellent. We split 2 starters and were so full didn’t even order a main course. Had the beet salad with warm goat cheese croquets and the tenderloin bruschetta. Delicious. Finished off with the gelato and macaroons. Needs a better wine list.
This was our first visit to 1852 Grill Room. The room is very well decorated. The view is outstanding. The food was very good and the service was great. The wine list was brief but nice offerings at a good price point. Overall we were very pleased with the grill room.
Our server was fabulous, the live piano player really set the ambiance and the filet and dessert were perfect! Peanut butter pie with peanut brittle topping. Amazing!
Food was great and the service was also. Nice view with a great ambiance. Soft piano music was playing to songs both my husband and I recognized. Wonderful place!
This was an absolutely delicious meal! Great fish, delicious wine, excellent service. Highly recommend.
I believe the maître d was at fault here. He placed us at a great table but it was with a waiter that had a large group to wait on. We were basically ignored after the first fifteen minutes. We had to ask someone to het him to get another drink, and we would have had dessert but we had just had it by then. And then we had to ask someone to get him to get us a check. We had been here before and had great service, but this was a total let down for the price. The trout had a LOT of bones in it, the plank whitefish was nothing to write home about.
It is a good place for dinner! We try to have dinner at Grand Hotel. But we fail to get in since it needs to be formal dressed. However, 1852 Grill Room is fine dinning, well-serving and we have about $200 for 4
Best restaurant on the island. Hands down.
Food was average. Waitress friendly and a bit overbearing
We felt very rushed with our wonderful meal🐝. Soup followed by salad and entree all at one time!
Slow down and enjoy the view.
My husband and I dined here for our 40th anniversary. Our meal was skillfully prepared and service was top level. We dined at many different places on the island, but 1852 Grill Room was the best - by far. We definitely recommend this!
We ate at 1852 grill last year and it was fabulous then and still. We had a great meal. The preparations were perfect. We love this restaurant.
Great drinks and conversation with the bartender. Outstanding food and view!
This restaurant is amazing! The service, the food, the ambiance, we loved everything about it! Pricey, but the quality was great and well worth a special night out.
Jewel our server was awesome, food was superb, best anniversary dinner we’ve ever had! That’s saying a lot since we just celebrated our 38th!
We went there for our anniversary. Chose this over the Grand Hotel. Less stuffy and we got an incredible view overlooking the water. Great prompt and courteous service and wonderful food. I have the whitefish and my wife had the butternut stuffed ravioli. Delicious!
Had a table for 8 for a business dinner. Waitress was attentive even as the place was pretty busy. Food was well-prepared and enjoyed by all. Not an adventuresome menu but all the typical fine dining covered, steaks, whitefish, prime rib, duck, trout, etc. Wine list is small but good (can't go wrong with Caymus).
Fantastic!!! Can't stop talking about it to everyone. Honestly, the best meal we've had in a very long time.
Wonderful choice! Everything was delicious - smoked salmon, onion soup, wedge salad, steak for two, whitefish, salmon, creme brulee. We enjoyed it all. The service was fantastic and everyone in the restaurant was friendly and accommodating. There was a pianist playing pop tunes which was delightful. And - a gorgeous setting!
Beautiful restaurant recently remodeled. The views of the lake are wonderful, the piano player was exceptional. They are known for their prime rib which will not disappoint! The Dover sole just melted in your mouth. Their ice cream after dinner drinks rock! And the service is absolutely exceptional! If you get a chance ask for Zach!
so disappointed - it was noisy and our waiter took 40mins to
deliver ONE glass of wine -food comes out in a rush - touted as
an upscale restaurant - NO dress code at all - the high point was
AW at the bar!
Awesome food, well prepared, many local fresh ingredients!
The restaurant was very welcoming and had good food. We had a table near the front windows with a view of the harbor. It was a lovely, fun and interesting dinner. Great service.
Good value, friendly service, encourage chef’s special.
The atmosphere was great and so was the service. The food was not as good as we were expecting given the price. Five out of six of us ordered the whitefish plank and it was over cooked. All of us added extra butter, salt, and pepper to eat the fish. That was dissappointing. My husband had the whitefish at Pink Pony the night before and it was excellent. The chopped salad sounded good, but was disappointing. The avocado was not mixed well into the salad and the bacon did not have good flavor. We would not recommend this restaurant given the price.
This was our first time here, and we really enjoyed it. While on Mackinac Island, we wanted a nice restaurant to celebrate my fiance's birthday. The menu choices were fantastic. We started with the smoked salmon as an appetizer, and had the pan roasted duck breast and a featured salmon dish for our entrees. We paired it with a nice Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. If you are on the island and want an excellent dinner but don't mind the prices, we would definitely recommend 1852 Grill Room.
