1847 Bar and Grill
Excellent food and service! And the place is a gem!
The garden and pond were designed by the same person who did the Japanese garden in Portland.
Appetizers were excellent. We had shrimp and artichoke hearts. Sauce had just the right amount of spice. Ladies had Caesar salad and crab cakes. Men had prime rib and fettucine. All were pleased. We shared a slice of chocolate cake for dessert. Waitress, Sarah was terrific. She was quite the beauty and efficient. Made great food suggestions, kept our decision making moving along and made us feel welcome.
Best Place for a Hamburger and have a meeting, very well hidden in the BW Hotel, well done Lebanon.
The wait staff are amazing. The appetizers (crab cakes and crispy artichokes) were pretty blah., salads (house and Caesar) were average. The main courses (tenderloins and chicken marsala) outstanding!
My main gripe would be the guest next to us watching youtube videos at his table at full volume during our meal.
I still like going here. Clean, neat, pretty quiet and good food options and cocktails. I did make a reservation but arrived 10 minutes early and ended up waiting for 20 minutes to be seated this time. The restaurant wasn't full so I'm not sure the problem.
Food was delicious. Patio looks like a beautiful place to eat when the Willamette Valley Weather permits. Look forward to coming back in the future.
We came for a birthday dinner with friends and had a great experience. Carl, our waiter was very attentive and even gave us a free dessert for birthday treat! Food was fantastic. We’ll definitely be back.
Great food and nice quiet atmosphere for lunch-dinner conversation. Wasn't very busy on this Sunday afternoon. We wanted a couple of cocktails but there was no bar staff, so the wait staff were making drinks. They didn't know how to make the B-52 and had to look it up, then didn't pour it layered like it's supposed to be. Other than that we had a good time and the food was good.
Really enjoy date nights at 1847. The food is always good. I had the Vampire Slayer burger Friday night. A lot of food, nice burger with just enough spice on this blackened beef. Fries were great too. Could have a better selection of red wines, but that's just being picky. Service was good and often enough to check on our party of 4. We'll be back.
Service was great and the food was excellent. For a special night out it was great and worth it!
was a great.
The whole staff was awesome and Nat greeted me by name.
This place has world class customer service
Birthday for fiancé everything and everyone was wonderful!
This restaurant offered excellent food offerings at reasonable prices and the service staff are friendly, welcoming, and efficient.
We were a group of ladies (mature) who get together for conversation and prayer. Because I knew we might be a little"giggly", I had requested to be seated separate from other diners so we did not disturb them. The restaurant met that request and we were in a cozy corner. We were all delighted with our food choices and the servers accommodated our special requests very well. The only negative I might present is that the servers were a little slow about offering the dessert menu and then serving said dessert seemed to take quite awhile. I do know that one of the servers was being trained, but saw the trainer and the trainee doing other tasks instead of focusing on the customers (us). At that point we were the only ones remaining. I do know it was obvious that we were catching up and visiting, but we felt that they should have been more prompt at the end of our meal. Overall we enjoyed having a more Up scale dining exerience near where we live.
Jesse was wonderful! He did a great job on our service.
Dinner on NYE. Had a reservation yet had to wait for a table while the next people in line behind us, who did not have a reservation, were immediately seated. Not sure why, several tables were set and ready.
Our table had a couple 1/2 wedge salads and a couple caeser salads, a prime rib (a much better cut than our last visit), chicken marsala fettuccine (very good, rich), and sirloin tips (spendy but melt in your mouth good). Salads were good, they make their own dressings. It would be great if they had more gluten free choices, especially pasta options.
The only complaint is that it was cold in the restaurant sitting by the windows. We will not sit by the windows in the winter again.
We had a last minute change of plans on none other than Christmas Day due to major illness in the family where we were to spend Christmas Dinner. We looked and made a quick reservation for that evening for 1847. The food, atmosphere and great service did not disappoint. We were delighted. We have been here before, but never on a holiday, so we will think about this in the future!! The Prime Rib was GREAT!
This was the third visit to 1847. The first two dinners were excellent. This third dinner was terrible. We had two prime rib dinners; one was ordered "medium well" and came bloody rare, the other was ordered "well" and was so very tough even the serated knife couldn't cut it. I managed to eat two bits, then left the rest on the plate.
The waitress was excellent, and apologized. She did take the rare dinner back and cooked it more. There was nothing she could do for the terribly tough cut.
Overall we had a very nice dinner and friendly waitress. The atmosphere was nice though chilly-I kept my coat on as we were seated below a vent which the waitress said couldn’t be turned off. Unfortunately, they were out of prime rib so that was disappointing. The steelhead was a good and generous portion, but I did order it with mixed veggies and it came incorrectly with the other choice of just asparagus. Another order at the table had requested no mushrooms and their order came with them. The “great” fried chicken was mediocre. Our bread came late and cold. Even with these little issues, I would still recommend. We had a very nice evening. The outside seating looked very nice so I plan to return in good weather to try it out!
I’ve been eating here for years. The food and the service is outstanding. Will continue to eat here for years.
We have a family tradition of dining out for lunch on Christmas Eve -- adults only. We look for sophisticated dining and like to eat dinner at lunchtime. It's been a little difficult to find the right kind of place in the mid Willamette Valley. Most creative cuisine is found only at dinner time and this year, Christmas Eve was on Monday, making it doubly difficult. We've often driven over an hour to McMinnville, but wanted to stay closer to home this year. We were delighted to discover 1847! Although the menu did not include any dinner entrees (they are famous for prime rib) and we did not want burgers, there were so many interesting and ample salads and appetizers, plus really superb home made pastas, that we were able to piece together interesting multi course meals from these. We started with scallops and crab cakes -- each done perfectly, with interesting little salads -- Asian inspired greens and seaweeds with the scallops and a tart green apple coleslaw with the crab cakes. Then one of us had a perfectly cooked seared tuna salad -- with lots of the rare tuna on a bed of good greens. We tried two of the pastas -- a fettuccine with chicken marsala and mushrooms in a creamy sauce and a wild mushroom ravioli with langoustine (crawfish), asparagus and other yummy stuff in a butter sauce. Both were ample and amazing. One of us had the iceberg wedge with Rogue Valley creamery blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes -- incredibly good and so generous with the blue cheese and bacon, it could have been a main course. We also tried the locally made beer sausage on a bed of peppers -- just great! By this time we had put substantial amounts of food in take out boxes and were so full but everything had been great so we wanted to taste the desserts! We tried the rustic apple tart and the chocolate cake with amarena cherries. Both were excellent and so ample that good portions came home of those too. Excellent wine selection and a good cocktail. We'll be back!
We enjoyed a nice lunch on Christmas Eve. We have eaten at 1847 many times. The food was good and the service was friendly. Thank you for another great meal!
Second time we've dined there. Again, had a great meal and a great time. The wine was so good we ordered a 2nd bottle and took home what we did not finish. Oregon law allows you to do that. The salad, soup, bread prime rib and desert were all very good and our waiter was outstanding; very careful to take care of our needs although he was busy but did not forget us once and careful to "doggie bag" up the leftovers and excess wine from the second bottle. We'll come back again either on our own or with guests like we did this time. A real gem of a restaurant in our area.
Great experience for Thanksgiving
Food was so good. Had a wedge salad and bacon mac and cheese. Perfect for lunch. My mother and sister had the scallops and both said they were yummy. Service was great. Waters and coffee filled regularly. Food timing was spot on. Thank you for a wonderful birthday lunch experience.
Wonderful service, we tipped him handsomely because it was not his fault the kitchen was ill prepared for a large party they had obviously known about to handle it and the regular restaurant patrons. Food was cooked poorly which left us paying for a very expensive dog treats and still going home to eat cereal. Ruined our anniversary experience, so if you have several hours to spare and Don't mind your food coming out wrong repeatedly then come on down. This used to be a great place, good atmosphere, great bartender and wait staff but someone needs to fix that kitchen cause you will not get what you pay for
Everything was good except it was extremely noisy. Would help to do something to improve the acoustics
Wonderful place to celebrate my parents 61st Anniversary. Attentive service and excellent food in a lovely setting.
The ambiance, service, and offered food was well prepared and well presented. I would have been happy to see vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options as well, some of our parties choices were restricted to appetizers only. Would definitely go again if with a group not diet restricted, otherwise I'd choose another restaurant.
It was nice to stroll in the Japanese Garden before dinner, then eat on the patio.
The food has been exceptional ever time and the atmosphere has been excellent for the occasions
The food and service was great. The table we were sat at was dirty, but they came by and cleaned it right away.
Can’t go wrong sitting inside by the fireplace
Or outside by the water.
Always a good meal and good service. Creative menu.
One week after my last review I am happy to report that service, every appetizer and wine choices were back up to their superb standard.
Patio service for Happy Hour was great and so nice to share this restaurant with our friends who wee first timers and with our doggies made the occasion wonderful.
We’re glad the 1847 is in town, but the food is only moderately good, even with a limited menu. Not worth the $$$, in our opinion. Staff is great. The food options are limited, and expensive. Third time dining here. May not come back. Much better value and quality elsewhere, sorry to say.
We ordered dinner and my gal asked for the french fry appetizer and that was noted and off went the server. Well we did get them after dinner was served and they did taste great so were planning to go back and have just Fry's and A desert! Yes, we did have a desert after the meal that was really well presented, flavorful and will get us back again for dinner or burnch.
4 of us went for happy hour on the patio and the wait staff was great ! We have been to this restaurant at least 7 times and have never been disappointed. However, on this day, everyone of our 3 appetizers were over cooked (one was burned-onion rings with dried up onions on the inside). The artichokes were over battered and again to brown and over cooked. The tempura vegetables were good and lightly battered yet over cooked a bit.
These are standard appetizers we’ve had in the past and have always been delicious.
We definitely will return cause this is only goof we’ve experienced.
Hopefully the cooks will be on top of this and if recipes have changed, please return to your formal delicious treats!
Too much sauce on ribs, on the side would be best. And side salad should come with entrée, even if smaller. Both meals were very good. We will come back and try again. Also would be nicer if seats were not torn (first impressions). Thank you
