This experience at 18 Steak was not unlike many of the others I have had. The food was decent: our steaks were quite underdone and their flavor was average, but not terrible. The lyonnaise potatoes were good, but the duck gumbo we had to start was amazing. It was some of the finest restaurant gumbo I've ever had.
This was one of the occasions when I had delightful service (The service here is very hit or miss). On this occasion, our main server, Peter, was a really nice guy, and on top of that, a master at his craft. Our drinks were always full, and he was present when needed, but he did not overwhelm the occasion. He *happily* attempted to fulfill our every request. At 18 Steak, some servers "forget" too many details or serve begrudgingly. It's my main issue with this restaurant.
As always, the atmosphere was quite delightful and enhanced the dining experience. It's a quiet, peaceful, intimate place to have a nice night with friends and loved ones. The only remark I have from this particular visit is that an assistant server participated with another customer making fun of our table's request for A-1. It was elitist at best and petty at worst, and it seemed to continue for far too long (they yucked it up for well over a minute about "who would order A-1!??", "why mess up good food?!", etc. etc.)
Amazing night out at 18 Steak. I decided to take my wife out on a really nice dinner date where we could just be alone. The atmosphere was light and comfortable with a romantic hue. The noise level was so quiet it felt as if we were alone. The staff was warm and inviting while tending to our every request. The food was delicious with side dishes large enough for two to share. A notable evening that made an everlasting memory for my wife and I to cherish for a life time.
18 Steak is always just an average in my book compared to other steakhouses. The food is nothing special, and the service is incredibly hit or miss (I've had more than one lackluster experience with attitudes from different staff members). For this particular visit, the server was not as friendly as I'm used to in other upscale restaurants, and forgot or disregarded several of our requests. The steaks and sides aren't any better than what you could get from an Outback/Longhorn type of place for half or one-third the price. The desserts are absolutely awful. They're definitely trying too hard for the desserts. I've tried almost all of them, and did not remotely enjoy even one of them. The environment/ambiance is definitely the highlight of the restaurant. The dining is intimate and private and it's a great place to enjoy the company of friends and family.
We were welcomed by the lady at the front whose name was Victoria. She was very nice, acknowledged that it was our Anniversary, and seated us by a window, which is what I requested. My husband and I had the Trout Amadine, and it was greasy, and tasted horrible. Needless to say, the service was horrible . We will not be eating there again. Our Anniversary dinner was ruined.
Wild mushrooms were not wild or even anything other than agaricus bisporus. Big disppointment from the previous 2 times I ordered the same dish. Filet mignon was thin (and it was not butterflied) and tasted like it was a low grade. It was half off. Peter was not rude, but I did not feel like a valued customer. I felt rushed, especially because I was not offered dessert and received the bill without asking for it. The only thing I enjoyed was the corn side dish. Big change from my last 2 experiences, which I received both excellent food and service.
Dinner at 18 Steak was great! Our server, Chris, was excellent! He made my wife's birthday very special... Helped make her feel like a million bucks with fantastic service and a surprise dessert that was truly "one of a kind", and delicious! We will surely go back and visit Chris again.
Unbelievable! Felt like we were the only table in the restaurant. Peter was unbelievable with the service. Total professional. Food was amazing. I could just go and get full on the bread. The steak was perfect melt in your mouth bursting with flavor. Definitely the place to celebrate a special occasion. The only problem is they didn't leave any room for improvement. Lol. I'm the guy that reads all the negative reviews to decide on whether I should try a place. If it wasn't that good I wouldn't hesitate to admit it. But I loved my experience.
