18 Seaboard Ratings and Reviews
Both Entrées came out soupy instead of saucy. It was like the chef didn’t even bother reducing the wine sauce down. You could still taste the alcohol in the cooking wine they used. Paid 26 dollars for something that anyone could have done much better at their own house.
Don’t waste your time, or your money.
Our service was not up to expectations. One waitress spilled a dish on the pants of a lady at our table. She didn't make any effort to remedy the situation or apologize appropriately. Our group consisted of 6 people who have all been to 18 Seaboard before but agreed that this trip was most likely their last.
What an incredible experience! The wine list has something for every taste. I could go on raving about the food which is masterfully prepared to perfection and beautifully presented, however the people and the service here are really make this restaurant stand out. This place is perfect for any occasion, but if you choose to spend a special day with them, they will do all in their power to make it a memorable one for you. We have been everywhere to eat in Raleigh, and without a doubt this is our favorite. Everyone at 18 Seaboard works together to give a fine dining experience a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend for a romantic night out. Don’t think twice, book a reservation now!!
attended with family to celebrate a birthday. We met on A Sunday for Sunday Brunch. the brunch menu was not extensive but had a good mix of entrees. The food was good and my party of six tried different dishes that we well received. I look forward to coming back and giving the dinner menu a try.
We were in Raleigh for the weekend and dined at the restaurant based on reviews. The ambiance and food were good. However, the service was terrible. It took 20 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order and another 20 minutes for it to be delivered. She said she would bring bread but did not. We had to ask for the appetizer my wife ordered after mine was delivered. She never asked if we wanted another drink. We were so looking forward to a good dining experience but were disappointed overall.
Excellent staff. Couldn’t have been more attentive and courteous . We really enjoyed our meals. We had Shrimp beignets, goat cheese and apple salad, and she crap soup appetizers, mahi mahi, and a Snapper Hog fish. We’re all delicious. The dessert we ordered was the vanilla pecan pie with a slice of bacon & whipped cream...OMGOODNESS that was divine. The chef also let us sample pumpkin seed white chocolate chip cookies as well. Perfection all around!
Arrived at 7 sharp for our reservation. Seated promptly. By 7:50, only 2 of our four party members had wine. While we had ordered wine for others as well as appetizers, salads, and mains, still nothing even simple pimento cheese and crackers! When the "late" wine finally arrived, it was white not red, despite our server saying what we had ordered was "my favorite". The homemade saltines were thick and soft, almost like stale pita bread. The kale salad and the shrimp beignets were terrific and the main fish dishes made up for the others.
Despite this, our server seemed disinterested in us and we were left to ourselves for LONG stretches. Fortunately, other servers refilled our waters frequently. Our meal lasted for nearly 3 hours, as our check arrived at 9:50. While this might seem reasonable under some circumstances, it seems a bit much for this setting. Overall, a bit of a disappointment since 2 of us had traveled from Maryland and 2 from Chapel Hill for the evening.
Restaurant was definitely not up to it's usual standard. We had several issues with our food--namely salad that wasn't dressed and chicken and fish that were overcooked, our food took a long time to get to us and we didn't have time to send back as we had a concert to get to. Staff were very apologetic and did everything they could to make it right.
This is the second time we have been to 18 Seaboard. The chef usually comes out; which is a nice touch. Both times we have come, they have brought "extras" to our table. This past time they brought out an appetizer and a dessert. They are small, just so you can try it but it is a very nice touch that sets them apart because I've not been to another restaurant that consistently does that. The food is well prepared and we have enjoyed it. I don't particularly care for smokey meats and their steaks are smokey but when I add a sauce, it helps because their sauces are amazing! If I could give one suggestion, it would be to include a non-dairy potato option to the menu.
I went here about 9 years ago and it was awesome. Delicious food. Excellent mix of fusion and traditional. Delightful cocktails and beautiful ambiance. This time, meh. The food was nothing spectacular. Somewhat bland. Large portions, lack of seasoning. Heavy desserts. I doubt I would go back. Fairly disappointed.
We all felt the restaurant where they seated us was very dark and even the way to Ladies Room was too dark...we made comments to the waiter but no accommodations to move us to a brighter table. Also if you are not a fish lover - there is really not a lot of choices but steak or a few chicken dishes that weren't that appealing. What everyone ordered seemed too be good 2 of the meals that had pasta and clams and shrimp were cold.
I probably would not drive all the way from west Cary to eat here again as there are better choices with more selections elsewhere.
We had a wonderful 15 year wedding anniversary dinner here. Joshua was excellent.
First booth table we were sat at was a bit to weird with table sat so high and lights were bright shining down on you, so we asked to be moved to table by window which was fabulous.
We will be back. I had sheepshead and husband had the prime rib, both were tasty and well prepared.
We ate on the rooftop deck. Had forgotten there is no elevator and had to take stairs up two flights in "back of the house" Food was good, not fabulous. There was very confusing signage out front as a neighboring restaurant was moving and it was not clear that 18 Seaboard was remaining.
We had a lovely dining experience with one exception. The only thing we did not care for was the dessert which was the fried sweet potato pie. It was not sweet and tasted like a sweet potato empanada that would be a side dish had it not been for the ice cream. We were asked twice by our waiter how we liked it and we told him we didn't! We left 3/4 of it. I asked that he please pass the word on and he just kind of laughed and told me next time to order the chocolate mug cake since we like chocolate. It's a rather pricey restaurant to leave unsatisfied. We were disappointed since we heard they make all their own desserts in house. I guess we expected too much. Our entres and the she-crab soup were delicious.
