Excellent service with great recommendations for food and compliments. We all got something different and each dish and side was perfectly done. I had grilled scallops with cheese grits and grilled veggies, my wife had brisket with spinach and mashed potatoes and our daughter had duck. The she-crab soup and blackberry gazpacho were yummy as was the meat and cheese tray.
I’ll miss 18 Seaboard!
The menu on their website didn’t match the real menu. The main reason we chose the restaurant was because of two main courses shown online but they aren’t on the menu. It was too late to go elsewhere. Food we got was good but not what we wanted. Service was bad.
Best dining experience I've ever had. Executive Chef Will and the entire staff, ownership included, made us feel like family. We are going to miss you all so much. 18 Seaboard has always been a staple and a privilege.
This was probably our last meal at 18 Seaboard, as it is closing in a few weeks. What a way to go. Service was exceptional, as always. The amuse bouche is always a nice start to the meal. We had the crispy oysters as an appetizer . The meld of flavors has always been a strong point of this restaurant.
My wife’s scallops were beautifully cooked. I opted for the salmon, medium rare, which was cooked just right. We both had the tarragon butter as a complement but we have never had much need for a sauce with the fish. The dish never needs it.
As it was our wedding anniversary, we got a complimentary mug of chocolate which we took home with us. We shared a gorgeous panna cotta. It tasted decadent but was light on the stomach. What a wast to finish.
We have to hope that Jason Smith will find new premises in due course so that Raleigh can enjoy a quality predominantly seafood restaurant again.
Had a wonderful date nite with the wife. As always, we were well pleased. Really hated to hear that they are closing. Wish the best for Jason and Lauren.
Wonderful food, wine and service. 18 Seaboard will be missed.
We are sad to see this restaurant close. It consistently delivered wonderful food and outstanding service. It's a pity that high quality establishments such as this one fall victim to real estate "development." Real estate speculators will get rich and we all will be the poorer.
Our last meal at 18 seaboard, very sad to see you go, thanks Jason for many wonderful meals, looking forward to your next adventure. Will keep going to your other restaurants but won't be quite the same.
Outstanding food and service. 18 Seaboard never disappoints!!
Sorry to hear it’s closing down but will definitely try the other restaurants in the 18 Seaboard family !!
Absolute best customer service in the industry. They go above and beyond to make your meal special.
This place is great. I hope they open up a similar restaurant somewhere else
Michael provides great service as we four old friends caught up with each other.
Great birthday lunch
Hate that this location will be closing, but we will enjoy Jason's other restaurants and look forward to his team's next adventure!
I have enjoyed dining at 18 Seaboard since they opened and am sad to hear they are closing in July.
Delicious, fresh and creative menu. Terrific service with nice little extras like bite-sized hushpuppies in the beginning and bite-sized blondies after our meal, niether of which we asked for but certainly devoured. Just a great neighborhood gem. I highly recommend this restaurant and encourage you to hurry and enjoy a few more meals before they close up.
I’m disheartened seaboard 18 will be closing. They have long been a favorite restaurant of friends and family. We’ve eaten there dozens of times and the experience has always been excellent. Hopefully, they’ll reopen in a new location. In the interim, they’ll be missed!
I have had many good experiences here, this just was not one of them.
We have thoroughly enjoyed 18 Seaboard for the last 14 years. We have celebrated many anniversaries, birthdays and other special occasions with many, many fond memories of great food and good times. We will miss 18 Seaboard 0!!!!
The ambiance was great. Service was quick and steady.
Great meal during restaurant week, the pork dumplings were incredible. Really good service, and will be really sad when 18 Seaboard closes in July. Hope they can re-open somewhere else.
Excellent in every way! Second time there, will miss it after it closes in July. Will be making one more trip there before then.
I know they are closing doors for good on July 2, but if you have time, go get a couple of their best items. I went with some friends who came in from out of town, the last time we got together there was for a birthday 4 years ago. My chicken salad was fine, nothing to rave about. But the friends who ordered the catfish and cheesy grits and the quinoa salad were very pleased. One friend wasn't over the moon about the soup, I don't remember exactly what it was but it was cream based maybe a bisque. She said it was a bit heavy. But, the highlight of our meal was dessert. We ordered one of each, the chocolate cake in a mug, the strawberry panecotta, the caramel crème brulee, and (drum roll) the sea salt honey chess pie. Well, we tasted each, but then devoured the pie! It was amazing. I can only imagine that the chef Jason Smith will be opening another restaurant someplace soon featuring some of these favorite dishes. Our server was excellent, unfortunately can't remember his name, but a friend recognized that he also waits at Cantina. He was attentive and pleasant, yet completely non-obtrusive. He made our meal effortless, we never had to ask for him as nothing was amiss. We can't wait to see what takes the place of 18 Seaboard!
Jason and his team always deliver a wonderful dining experience ; everything was perfect as usual
Treated a friend for her birthday lunch. Extremely well trained wait staff, attentive but not intrusive. The She Crab soup and Creek Salad combo was delicious; the blackened tuna over salad special was excellent! We appreciated the complementary salmon on cucumber bites and lemon cake squares - a nice touch! Will definitely go back very soon.
Very formal environment. Ac too cold. Not the best for a casual lunch. Better for upscale dinner. Food good quality, not overwhelming portions.
We went there for lunch. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Overall a great experience.
A favorite local restaurant of mine but the restaruant week entrees were not anything outstanding. Almost wished I had ordered off the normal menu
18 Seaboard is a great place for a special occasion or just someplace to go with someone special. The food is adventurous and delicious and the service is top notch at every touchpoint.
Absolutely excellent food and service and they were busy and my husband is demanding and loved it and can't wait to go back
If you like a broad selection of food do not go to Seaboard 18. No draft beer either. Only a handful of bottle beer. It was OK. They need a lot more selection of foods. More hearty dinner salads. Meh
Unfortunately not what was expected. Having dined at other "18" restaurants, we had expected the same great quality of food but all of meals we were served were disappointing. The brisket was majority fat than meat, causing us to leave most of what was served on the plate, the beef filet was very tiny and unappetizing to look at and eat, and the catfish was ok. I will say the desserts were much better. We appreciated the special "congratulatory" dessert and the service was attentive and skilled. Maybe it was an off night for dinner because lunch at Seaboard has been enjoyable.
Birthday for dad
The service was outstanding, including the wine recommendation. We split two appetizers and an amberjack entree and all three deserve 5 plus stars. This restaurant is one of our three favorites in Raleigh!
Martin, our server, was exceptional. His assistant, Michael, was thoughtful and helpful. Or booth was comfortable. The food was excellent. A+
18 Seaboard proved to be an excellent choice for our Girl’s Night Out. Our server was very attentive and personable. I had She Crab Soup which was amazing. The ladies I dined with only had entrees which was a bit problematic. Both felt that the portions were very small and both were left feeling hungry. They advised our waiter. As we were paying the bill the owner came to our table and gave us an amazing desert to share. No mention of being told about the portion size feedback. I thought it was a very professional way of saying we value your feedback and we want to see you again. They will see me again most definitely. One of the best seafood meals I’ve had in some time.
We celebrated our anniversary dinner here. I specifically asked for a quiet table and we were given a very secluded booth that blocked a good amount of sound. Our staff was very friendly and accommodating with my wife's gluten allergy.
Dinner was superb. I wanted grilled fish but it was not on the menu. Our waitress consulted with the chef and made it happen. There were 3 of us and all of our food was delicious (especially the bananas foster for dessert ). All of the food was simple and elegant. And delicious.
18 Seaboard missed the mark on Mother’s Day brunch.
Filet mixed with fruit and scrambled eggs. The steak juice and fruit juice and eggs all on same plate was disgusting!!! Server felt bad and it wasn’t her fault. Then we found big chunks of soil/dirt in our salad. I was done after that.
We were very embarrassed we took our moms here for this occasion. We will not be returning.
Wonderful food and excellent service on a very busy Saturday evening
A solid restaurant - great food, service and ambiance.
