Very nice, quiet place to share a meal. Our server Jefferson, was quite accommodating & had good recommendations for vegan meal options. Would definitely go back! Thank you!
Great experience. Nice and cozy and food was excellent.
Quaint neighborhood restaurant not far from downtown. Excellent service and great food; definitely on the visit again list when we return to Savannah again.
Intimate setting with piano player adding to the ambiance. Food was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The atmosphere was beautiful! The piano without lyrics was perfect for the brick walls and the wood beams. The food was perfectly cooked and had delicious flavors!
Easy to make reservation (Open Table). Ambiance fitting with local, felt historical.
Friendly staff, diverse menu selections that were not over priced. Live piano in background was a nice touch even if the place is haunted (?).
Always a fabulous experience.
This was our 2nd visit to this rest. and plan to include it every year when visiting beautiful Savannah.
Everything was very good! Drinks: 4:20 beer & Malbec
Salads: Signature & Spinach
Apps: Escargot & Crawfish Étouffée
Entree: Osso Buco & Rack of Lamb
Dessert: Key Lime Pie & Bread Pudding
Mishaps: Gentlemen spilled my wine over....
We went for a date night. Had a great meal, I had the Neptune. Very good. Lots of food. Ambience was great. Piano player was great entertainment.
I was disappointed in the bread pudding and when we advised our waiter, he promptly removed it from our bill without us asking. Very nice. I still give it a 10.
Very well prepared food and drinks, served in an historic setting. We truly enjoyed the live piano music. The intimate inn feeling added to the fun of the evening.
Such a beautiful restaurant in an old historical building! The food was excellent! Our server was OK - not the best, but adequate. Great for a special occasion...
We were here before a show at the Lucas. Service was prompt and efficient. The food was very good. We enjoyed the piano music
We have been dining there for years. The food is always fresh and delicious. The place is unique and great for out of towners
This used to be my most favorite restaurant in Savannah but I was disappointed this time.
They used to have different vegetarian dishes every time I visited and I loved having choices.
But now they have an eggplant dish on the menu or vegetable pasta upon request. I have had enough vegetable pasta at other restaurants who do not cater to vegetarian/vegan customers.
The eggplant dish was ok, not particularly impressive.
Also, our waiter was rather impolite or careless.
I had my knife on the appetizer plate and he just slid that off the plate onto the table instead of asking me to place it on the table or replacing it with a new one.
For the price they are asking for, I expect much better service.
Service awful, food rushed , waiter was sarcastic mean spirited, fried green tomatoes were frozen, entrees were average . Ambiance was nice
While the food was very good, at the end of our meal our credit card was not returned with the check. Turns out the waiter had put our card in his pocket. Even though we approached him immediately I am still checking our statement for unauthorized charges. For that I cannot recommend.....
Ate here a few years ago and the food was much much better. Not sure what’s happened but we won’t be going back. Our server was a bit gruff which we could deal with but the food was mediocre at best. I had the shrimp and scallop scampi - in fairness the scallops were delicious- and the fried green tomatoes which tasted liked they had been pre breaded and packaged and just heated up to serve. My husband had the jambalaya which was sweet not spicy and nothing special.
Really enjoyed the historic feel of 1790. The waiter Scott was special and most helpful.
This was my second yearly visit during the annual music festival in Savannah. My pasta dish of shrimp and scallops was delicious, and 1790 remains at the top as one of the best in the city!
We went here with another couple Sunday April 1-visiting Savannah from Nashville Tn- we were excited that it was known (also) for being haunted, we were seated right away- the ambiance was very warm with a piano player in the corner- seems like there were Savannah residents there not so much tourists. When the waiter came out to take our orders he was kinda dry and wasn't interested in playing up the "ghosts" stories or the history of the building - we were served fairly quickly- we did enjoy the place- the food was - well the sides- the risotto and asparagus were luke warm but my Oscar Salmon was hot and perfect! Overall everyone enjoyed their dinner and we would absolutely go back.
Our server,Clayton, was very gracious and attentive. We enjoyed the piano playing and general atmosphere. The food was very good as well. Food allergies were handled safely and there were many allergies to accommodate.
Jefferson was just a fantastic waiter and our food
Notch! Not to mention the wonderful pianist during dinner
Just an amazing place with all the atmosphere you want plus amazing food and service !
We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the "haunted" elements, the ambiance and piano music, and our server was great (friendly and knowledgeable on both wine and spirits, pun intended!). Also had a few drinks on the bar side and enjoyed the more casual atmosphere on that side. Great place!
Reservations are recommended and I was glad I heeded the advice. The dining area filled quickly that Saturday night and without reservations we would have missed out. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and met our every need. The food was delicious, arrived hot and in a timely fashion. The sweet was as it should be in Savannah - dark, cold and sweet. The next time I am in Savannah, I will make every effort to dine at the 17humdred90.
I had higher expectations for a restaurant that is supposed to be one of the better in Savannah. A positive for the restaurant is that it is in a lovely old building and quaint. However both the service and food leaves a lot to be desired. We were seated promptly but did not see our server for 10 minutes. We had to flag down another waiter to get our waiter to finally come to the table.
It was an awkward interaction with the waiter. We gave him our soup and appetizer order while we were deciding on our main course. He came back and told us he didn’t put our order in until we ordered our entrees. Then when my companion asked about what was in the dish, his response was a frustrated, “we already went over this.” He would also randomly comment on women who were in the restaurant. During the meal, he unexpectedly handed me a to go container that I hadn’t asked for while he was walking out of the dining area.
The food, besides the crab stew, was less than ideal. I ordered the Neptune dish and the risotto was mushy, without flavor, and inedible. I ended up eating the shrimp, which also lacked flavor, and some of the scallops but left half of the food on the plate untouched. I usually do not like to waste food, however I could not bring myself to eat it.
On my next trip to Savannah I will not be visiting this restaurant.
Very good service from Steve. The food is bland and unimaginative. Crab cakes dry and tasteless. Scallops over cooked and chewy. Glad we got to see the oldest hotel in Savannah. The menu needs to be updated and what’s on the menu needs to be better prepared.
This was my granddaughter's first time in Savannah and first B&B experience. Dinner at the Inn made it even more special.
I live in Florida but whenever we go to Savannah we always eat there. The food and service is over the Top!
Atmosphere was great and the food was inspired, but in my opinion average. The service was the reason I would not recommend this restaurant. The order was slow in being taken which wasn't terrible. The salad was dropped off and I wanted more dressing, but the person dropping them off didn't give us time to say a thing before gone. Then when the entrees came the same thing occurred no question about how everything looked or enjoy your meal. The runner just dropped the food and went away quickly. Tea glass was empty multiple times and was unfilled until requested. The waiter never checked back until we had to waive an arm to get his attention to get what was needed. This was a 30th anniversary meal so this experience was very disappointing.
I really love this place, but our experience was less than perfect. Our waiter was surly, and the crab cakes were not up to their usual awesomeness. We'll be back, but it will be a while.
My finance' and I arrived early for our dinner reservations so we decided to have a cocktail at the bar. The bartender was very getting slammed but was still very friendly and treated you like you were the only ones there. Her Old Fashion's were so wonderful we decided to have another if it would not ruin our reservation. The restaurant staff could not have been nicer telling us to take our time and enjoy ourselves the table would be waiting when we were ready.
Our waiter was excellent as was the food, from appetizer to desert. Everything was timed and prepared perfectly. I highly recommend anyone visiting Savannah give 17 Hundred 90 serious consideration.
Loved the historical building! great food and excellent service.
Cannot put into words what a fantastic experience it was. Everything about it was exemplary
We were very disappointed. The food was exceedingly salty. Even the members of our party who like salt thought it was distractingly salty. Overall for the price the portions were skimpy and the food very mediocre
Lovely ambiance and very tasty food. The pecan pie dessert may have been the best call we made all night!
We go 1790 often and it's always excellent. Last time I had the Salmon Oscar and it was perfectly cooked. The service was amazing and Thaddeus even left me a dime. Loved it...
The experience was great. We were seated as soon as we got there. The food was amazing! We ordered Oyster Rockefeller for appetizers the main course was shrimp & scallops scampi & the Neptune. I will definitely go back.
Our server was delightful, a female can't remember her name, but she was great for being so busy!
We had a great time at 19Hundred90. The ambiance is outstanding. Historical establishment has a great feel. The meal was good. The wait staff was outstanding and friendly. After dinner, we retired to the bar to finish off our bottle of wine while we watched the NCAA Tournament. The manager joined us after the restaurant had closed and kept the bar open until the game had concluded. Great hospitality.
