Food was disappointing. My husband ordered the jambalaya, which had a tomato base that tasted like a pasta sauce. There was no “spice” at all to the dish. I ordered the cranberry-stuffed pork tenderloin which came with green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. It was average but nothing special. It also lacked flavor.

Atmosphere is romantic with soft music playing. On certain nights there is a piano player, but the. Room is quite small and the piano can get loud if you are seated next to it.

Service was fine but I believe the server was new due to the fact that she knew little about the menu and had to ask someone in the kitchen. Also, she brought us each a honey biscuit before our salads (house salads were good) and only about 2 minutes slater she came to the table and started to remove our plates which still had half of our biscuits on them. When we told her we weren’t finished, she looked flustered.

We visited this restaurant last year and we were very impressed, but after an ordinary meal last evening, we wouldn’t go back.

The risotto was undercooked, the shrimp and scallops had an ammonia taste to them.

Great meal during our annual Savannah weekend. This was our 2nd time dining here and the meal was great. The piano player was just right, not too loud and played a great selection.

We had planned a family get together in Savannah for months. Having a severe food allergy, I had researched restaurants that would be "safe". While this one appeared to be - it was not! Waiter did not know that a duck was not mammal? and seemed to be oblivious and not at all knowledgeable to the menu and ingredients. My dinner was served with items that I am allergic to - even after speaking with the staff and providing a card listing my allergies. The others in my party were also disappointed in the quality of the meal for the price we paid.

We loved the historic building and romantic atmosphere. The food was good but not really outstanding for the price. Savannah as a whole is an expensive city for dinning. My husband and I both had the filet. It was cooked well and the presentation was spot on, however, the cut of meat didn't seem as high quality as other filets we had during our visit to Savannah. Overall we had a nice dinner and would recommend this restaurant if for nothing else the unique historic vibe of the building itself.

What a lovely restaurant! There was a pianist who played Chopin and the Claire de Lune beautifully but not too loud! The food was exquisite and the ambiance was delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Our family had the pleasure of attending the Thanksgiving buffet and we couldn't have been more pleased. The food was delicious, there was a variety including: turkey, ham, and salmon. All the sides and desserts were plentiful and the atmosphere was perfect. If we are going to be in Savannah next Thanksgiving there is no doubt where we will be eating!!

For very little effort the presentation of the food could be vastly improved by getting rid of the aluminum disposable liners placed in warmers.

We were there for Thanksgiving dinner. Many times when eating at a restaurant on a major holiday, it is hit or miss. This experience was fabulous! The buffet was excellent and well maintained. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Hope we can get reservations for Christmas dinner.

We had planned a special birthday dinner for my husband's 50th birthday. We planned a trip to GA with friends to celebrate at 1790 restaurant. The food was okay. My husband's entree was not made correctly and it took an hour for our food to be served. I had told the hostess that we were celebrating a birthday but nothing special was done. I gave the pianist a tip to sing "happy birthday"but he left w/ out playing the song. We asked the waiter about the history of the restaurant. It was like pulling teeth to get him to play along with the theme of a ghostly restaurant. He didn't even know the name of the ghosts. Disappointed considering we came all the way from New Hampshire to dine here.

My friends osso bucco was great...my meal was cold.....spicy jambalaya was tasteless, spiceless and lukewarm, haricots verte were crisp but cold, even the plate was cold......horrible disappointment but honey coated biscuits were to die for....but not worth the price tag....and we don’t drink! I have had wonderful meals there, the staff is most accommodating, and the pianist is enough to probably draw us back in the future.

Good service. My filet was to be well done but came out Luke warm and fairly pink. The mashed potatoes and sauce were outstanding. The piano player was great and really added to the ambience. Of course, the honey biscuit is exquisite. Overall the four of us really enjoyed our dining experience.

We dined at the 17Hundred90 restaurant while staying in the Inn for our anniversary . It was very crowded and loud when we first arrived due to large table who was celebrating a birthday After they left things changed completely and the live piano music filled the room.
When our dinner was served we could not have been happier !!! It was one of the best meals I have ever had ! I ordered a Mahi special that was out of this world ! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Savannah !

To start we loved the live piano music & ambience but were given a odd cocktail menu with all cocktails made with ginger beer? ?There was nothing without it so we inquired & got an additional drink menu with a few non-ginger beer cocktails. The honey biscuit to start was great! The appetizers were good but the entrees were hit or miss. The jambalaya was good, the chicken with Boursin was tasty but much too heavy on the cheese & the special of grouper & seabass on a bed of pesto pasta was just awful. I could not eat it, to their credit they did remove it from the bill.

Biggest missing piece, main dishes all lukewarm when served. Some vegetables actually still cold. Sort of dampened the whole experience . :(

This was my 4th time at this restaurant and I had the salmon. I wish the salmon was as good as the times before, but the waiter did not come and check if I liked how it was cooked nor did he ask how I would like it cooked.

I wrote this review so that this could be improved on as normally I have had great experiences at this restaurant. I do feel waiters should ask how you want your salmon cooked. Mine was not cooked enough.

Delicious food and impeccable service in an historical dining room, set in a quiet residential neighborhood. We were pleasantly surprised to find prices in line with the generally far less interesting and attractive places on the river. We appreciated the waitress indicating prices for the off menu specials, which I've hardly seen before, though it obviously makes perfect sense and shows respect for the customer.

I was very happy to find a restaurant that would cater to my vegan/gluten free preferences. My server was very knowledgeable about what dressings were not vegan, which breads were not gluten free, and she did not tell when I cheated and had the key lime tart as a dessert! But I deserved it after running the Savannah Marathon! The atmosphere was so cozy and warm, and the live pianist was the perfect touch!
