This is my favorite restaurant in Savannah. I love the ambiance and the quod the service and food. We were there this time with friends and Our server was very dry, don’t even know his name because he never told us, he took forever to get us water and I have to pour my wine myself 😒. I will be back but I will make sure he doesn’t serve us.
Good food and very good value. Service was good but clearly shows short staff issues as is true with must places these days.
They start serving dinner at 5:00 and we had 5:00 dinner reservations. By 5:30 they were explaining to customers all that they were already out of. We thought that was odd until we got our dinners. Clearly everything was pre-made and rewarmed as people ordered them. The food was disgusting, literally. I would expect more from a hospital cafeteria. It’s a shame, we’ve been here before, years ago and it was great, not the case anymore. We will never return. It’s sad when you go to a haunted inn / restaurant and the food is the scariest thing there. The service was very poor, rude and almost as bad as the food.
Everything we had was good and the server was excellent. We were disappointed that they were serving a limited menu due to a shortage of kitchen staff. The three entrees to choose from were fried shrimp, crab cakes, and BBQ ribs. My husband had the crab cakes and said they were good. I opted for soup and salad, nothing special. I feel like the limited menu made it difficult for us to see what they were really capable of serving. Would try again.
The day we went there was a very limited menu with only 3 entrees served basket style which was not at all what we were expecting. That was hugely disappointing. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was tremendous and the piano music very nice but it would have been nice to know about the limited menu when making the reservation.
We were quite disappointed to not know ahead of time that they are offering a limited menu on certain week days. No entrees offered but instead “baskets” including French fries and throw away picnic plating. If we had known ahead of time, we would have opted to save the trip here for next time, as we’ve had great previous dining experiences at 17hundred90.
They should warn diners that they have only fried food baskets on certain nights. We would have gone elsewhere to get the great dinner we were expecting. Ambiance and Christopher’s piano were good.
Food and service were excellent. .... very nice quiet atmosphere
All fried food, loud, dirty and limited choices. The server was nice and informative
Not their usual menu due to short staff- unexpected so not the high level we were told by friends to expect!
This was our second visit and everything was fantastic.
Unfortunately we made reservations on a bar menu night. The food was good but of course minimal.
This has been our wedding anniversary night out location for the last few years. So being no one’s fault, our dinner was underwhelming.
Loved it. Awesome staff and Martha is the bomb at the bar!
Historic atmosphere, staff were wonderful. Food was a bit heavy for us with sauce and fried breading but overall good. Drinks and desert were great. We're glad we went for the Savannah experience.
The food was good. The service not so good. Maybe he was just having a bad day. It was the 42nd anniversary for 2 couples. While we had told them when we made the reservation, no one mentioned it.
The were no specials and two items (one of which we had planned on) were missing from the menu.
The room was nice. Our experience was just okay.
Delicious steak and my husband loved the Oscar salmon.
This was our last night in Savannah and we were really looking forward to this reservation for 1790. Truly great ambiance, service and food. 4 stars as a result of the limited menu items available that evening - we were already looking forward to enjoying two after browsing menu online. Understand this could happen, but (4) signature items?! Oh, well!
Great ambience that reflects the historic Savannah charm. The food was quite good with a diverse menu.
Had drinks at the bar before dinner...great! Dinner was also great but the rack of lamb was slightly over cooked and the server had a slight attitude... great atmosphere and the ghost stories were terrific.... would definitely recommend this restaurant!!
It was awesome! Service , food, atmosphere best meal we had!
This my 2nd time dining at this restaurant. First time over 8 years ago and visited the historic city and recalled this place. Still as good as first time.
Excellent choice elegant location
Excellent food served in a beautiful dining room. Highly recommended
Perfect in every way! Great food, ambiance and service!
The scallops were perfect and my filet mignon was wonderful. The food never disappoints! One of my favorite places!
We checked in 10 minutes early, was told table not ready yet but clearly it was.. Waitress was not friendly at all nor was she able to explain the history of the building. Food was a C at best, the jambalaya was not good t all and I saw others like myself having trouble eating it, to much sauce that just didn't taste right. My wifes dinner was pretty good however, steak. Overall the value for the money was not there. The history was probably very cool but never explained to us. Will not return to this establishment
First time at 17Hundred90 ... atmosphere was great ... the Crab Stew and the Shrimp and Grits were absolutely amazing ... finished our meal with fantastic Pecan Pie ... we will definitely return ...
Try the scallops!
This was one of our favorite places to dine when we came to Savannah. But now I have to grade it much lower due to the food. The escargot appetizer was sub par. Too much puff pastry and only 4 escargot! The greens it was served on were wilted. In the past, it was the best item on the menu in my opinion. Our server told us a new chef was in the kitchen. Also my entree of blackened shrimp was overcooked. Service was good but overall our dining experience was disappointing.
We loved it. Perfect anniversary dinner. We both had the filet and it was great!
We eat at the 17hundred90 Restaurant almost every time we go to Savannah. The atmosphere is truly wonderful and the food always delicious. Given an opportunity to have dinner at the 17hundred90, you should definitely go.
Our server “Dan H” (according to receipt) was the most unenthusiastic person and he seemed angry any time we asked for anything. Otherwise it was great!
Ray made all the difference in our dining experience! Thank you! The food was great, the setting so wonderful and Ray’s service, friendliness and knowledge of the wine and food was fabulous. The four of us enjoy our evening out as friends getting together again.
This place was amazing. Great food! Great service! The story behind this place is so interesting. Wish we could have stayed there.
Parker our waiter was very friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious! Highly recommend!
Our waiter never approached our table for over 10 minutes. He never introduced himself or apologized for taking so long. He asked us if we were ready to order. We said we would like to order cocktails while we look at the menu. Seemed a little bothered by that! He was not attentive at all!
My husband ordered his filet medium well. It came rare. It also had fat on it! When we finally got our server’s attention, my husband told him that the steak was raw to which he replied “so do you want them to cook it more?!! It came back medium. My husband said worst filet ever
Very disappointing. We had eaten there once before and it was excellent all the way around. Won’t go back!
The food was fabulous. The ambience was cozy and good. The only thing that detracted from the evening was our waiter. For someone who said he had been there 5 years, he was certainly not hospitable or welcoming. His interactions with us were short and he certainly did not exhibit what we recognize as Southern hospitality. From what we saw around us, the other wait staff appeared fine.
Always good food here. Usually top notch staff, however this time our waiter was rather indifferent.
One of our favorite Savannah eateries! Atmosphere, food and service exceptional as always! Hang around and you may encounter a friendly spirit of two!
