17Hundred90 Inn and Restaurant
A living time capsule of America's earliest decades, 17Hundred90 captures the authentic flavor of an eighteenth century river port hotel and restaurant while working diligently to provide wonderful new memories for our guests.
We went for our anniversary dinner thinking that it may be a little more high quality then it was. It’s crowded to begin. For a place that has a business casual dress code not really sure why people were dressed in hoodies and blue jeans. The food was horrible. The best part of the night was the appetizers. Getting crab shell in a crab cake, awesome. Shrimp was well over cooked and rubbery. I ordered my steak medium, it literally just had a sear on it not to mention it was a cheap cut, ny strip for 38 dollars you expect at least prime but it was rubbery which makes me think it was a select cut. The small spoonful of mash potatoes you get and then whatever their mystery vegetable was. It wasn’t worth the money. The waitress knew nothing about the wines they carried. Not too mention it took her 25 minutes to get me a refill of coke, they rush around like they are fast, but moving fast doesn’t mean you are doing anything. Overall, I’d recommend the bar food and the bar atmosphere over the “fancy” dining.
Very nice place, a bit crowded so when it is full you can hear lots of conversations. Service was slow but it was a full Friday night so we expected that to some degree. That said, it took a very long time to get a glass of wine and appetizers. I called in before hand to check dress requirements and the person on the phone was short and they just seemed slightly annoyed. Food was decent but for the price I would expect a little more on the service side. I would go back but go to the bar side. It seemed to be a fun environment and more my style.
Excellent service, friendly staff. Overall great experience. I will revisit this place every time I come to Savannah.
The food was awesome! The atmosphere was quite with a soft piano playing in the background. We sat right in front of the fireplace it was wonderful!
Food was outstanding, love the music that was in the background. Server waa great
Love this place. Ambiance, character and history, combined with great food.
Drove from the Sunshine State and great food-service and atmosphere -- we will be back
Every aspect of our experience was memorable... in a good way. The inside of the establishment is hauntingly beautiful, from the exposed wood beams to the unfinished brick walls, to the rustic fireplace and Victorian-era decor. Our server, Jefferson, was friendly, professional, informative, and entertaining. And the foood! Oh, the food. Everything was prepared to perfection. There was no sign of the ghost of Thaddeus during our visit... but maybe the next time.
I took my office staff out for dinner while in town for a business trip. We had an excellent meal. The bar and staff were amazing. Once seated, our server was top notch and the live piano was an added bonus. I would highly recommend.
The honey butter biscuits from the start were amazing. The Shinto and
Food was outstanding.
An amazing experience, start to finish. The food was wonderful; my steak was perfectly cooked and the lobster tail was worth every penny of the upcharge.
Our server was attentive, we enjoyed the pianist and made friends with those at adjoining tables, all of us celebrating our good fortune to be dining at 1790.
I would definitely recommend it, and will return if I'm back in Savannah.
Certainly not what I expected from an open table restaurant. Food was mediocre at best. Great ambiance of the restaurant but the food did not match descriptions.
We love the charm of this place – feels very comfortable, the ambiance is most warm and inviting. We book 17Hundred90 Restaurant for many of our special occasions. On this evening our server was Steve, and he was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu.
The restaurant is charming, cozy and comfortable. Lovely ambiance. Service was attentive and personable - old school, we wanted for nothing. Food was outstanding. I highly recommend and will certainly return.
The hostess was not friendly and did not smile when we arrived. I always feel an immediate ‘let down’ with a new experience when I encounter this reaction.
A live pianist played while we ate a delightful cuisine which is always nice.
The women’s bathroom was unclean and a real disappointment for what is considered a 4 star restaurant. I couldn’t believe it.
We had a great experience. The service was excellent as was the food and ambiance!
We really enjoyed our experience at 1790. The location is great and feels like you’re stepping into the past. All the staff was nice and helpful, drinks at the pub first were spot on, and dinner was very good. Not a single complaint. We’ll be back again!
Loved the ambiance, with the piano music and the pretty chandeliers! It had a warm and cozy feel with the exposed brick walls and rustic beamed ceilings. Our waiter was fantastic and so was the grilled grouper!
Excellent ambiance and great service. Had the filet which was a little tough but well presented. Nice piano music and good wine selection. A little pricey but worth it for celebration. Great place to stay for a night or two.
Excellent service and the food was very good.
Had a very sullen waiter with an attitude. Sat for 15 minutes and our drink order was not taken until my husband found our waiter and the waiter had an attitude and an unnecessary comment. The atmosphere and food are always excellent but the waiter plays a big part in the overall evening. Who is the female that sits behind the desk, feet up reading a book...not a good first impression. We are local, not tourists.
This restaurant is fabulous in every respect. Our waiter was so engaging and attentive and the food was just perfect. Our daughter asked for a vegan option and between the waiter and chef, they produced a beautiful stuffed peppers entree that was just mouthwatering. The ambiance is lovely and the pianist warmed the atmosphere perfectly. Before taking up our dinner reservation, we had cocktails at the bar. It was only a room away and had a very different vibe - lively, friendly crowd of who appeared to be regulars and excellent set of signature cocktails. I would return to visit Savannah just for dinner here!
Food was amazing. We discovered this place last year on our Anniversary and went back again this year! I had the Neptune and it was delicious!
The historical surroundings, the wafting of the soothing piano music and the great food were enough to recommend it highly to anyone. This visit our service was lacking. We had to ask the young man who initially greeted us and poured our water to please let our wait staff know we were there after at least a 15 minute wait. Throughout we were lacking attention, but the food was great and we had a great time with our dinner companions.
Wife and I loved every bite of our food. Great atmosphere. Excellent pianist. Service was great. Highly recommended.
What a great meal!! it was our Anniversary and we could not have picked a better place. The food the service the atmosphere all were outstanding. We highly recommend 1790 for dinner. Also the piano player was excellent. The menu is small but touches on everything. That allows the chef to prepare dinner for just a few items and do it excellently. It a must do when in Savannah. Thank You for a wonderful evening.
Melvin was an exceptional server. He made a significant impact on our dining experience and we are grateful to have met him!!
Loved the character of the inn. The biscuits are worth coming back for as a meal! Food and service was perfect
This is such a cozy, romantic place to enjoy dinner. The room is rustic, but elegant, with chandeliers, candlelight and a terrific piano player playing lovely music. The quality of the food was excellent, as was our waiter, Parker. This is our go-to place for dinner whenever we are in Savannah. We both had Caesar salads, and our entrees were the pork osso buco and the lamb dish. Everything was delicious.
Steak was excellent, lump crab Oscar topping was too salty to eat, overall a very nice experience
Nice choices of meals and the cuisine was wonderfully prepared. The presentation was top notch. Our waiter was quite attentive without being disruptive. A delightful place to dine in Savannah.
We had a wonderful evening at 1790's. The food was amazing and everyone was friendly and very eager to make sure we were having a nice evening.
We have visited many times but this time was disappointing. Multiple dishes were not prepared to order or correct. Service was slow for a late reservation and glasses ran on empty and not full. Even after sending back several dishes, no concern was shown from management or wait staff.
Very unfortunate because great environment!
Fabulous place. Quite busy for a rainy Saturday night. Our waiter was quite knowledgeable but lacked personality. We did feel a little "forgotten" as our table was against a wall and nearly in a corner. There were large parties that were just finishing up as our appetizers were being served. Our entrees were tasty but only warm (not hot). Our food must have been sitting for a little while. Unfortunate. Large portions however (we needed to take some home) at a tremendous value. Awesome wine list with quite a diverse offering but nothing too "over-the-top". The history of the place makes it enchanting. We will be back.
The ambience sets this restaurant apart. The service was great and the pianist played some rock music melodies that was a refreshing change. The food score would have been 5 if the risotto was creamier and the whole carrots were cooked thoroughly. The carrots were cool in the middle. All-in-all, i would return to the restaurant.
This place has a nice atmosphere and is definitely a tourist hotspot.
The experience was positive overall, but mostly from the historic ambiance. The food was average and the service was way too rushed. We had no time to enjoy our drinks before our apps came out, and dinner was quickly after that. We were in and out in less than an hour. Typically we look forward to feeling more relaxed during dinner and having time to digest.
Grouper special was out of this world. My husband loved his meal combo of shrimp, crab cakes and scallops. Loved the atmosphere and the history of the Inn. “Anna” in the second floor window was a nice touch.
