We’re a farm-to-table restaurant that’s redefining what fine dining means. We work with local vendors and farmers to find the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. We understand the challenges of finding high-quality options that unique, vegan or allergy-friendly, especially since the owner has Celiac Disease herself, among other dietary restrictions. Our kitchen creates fresh food from scratch every day and can customize to your needs, so we’ve got you covered. Plus, we're the only restaurant in McHenry County to have received Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, and our expert staff can help you choose the perfect pairing.

We’ve been to 1776 for many years and always had a nice time. Last night we went there for our anniversary which was recognized but no special discounts or “desserts”. The service was great. The food was a bit below what we’ve seen before. My husband did not care for the sauce on the lamb (why would you ruin the delicate taste of lamb with a sauce?) and the mahi was rather tasteless. In a small room, it’s hard to avoid the noise, but it was quite noisy-maybe it’s just our age

Wonderful restaurant, great Farm to Table menu. The owner came to the table, very personable. It was a very busy evening at the restuarant and they kept up quite well. Our werver Wendy was a joy and very personable as well. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday and we will definitly be back.

Great menu and wine list. Wendy was fabulous. It was great to be able to have a conversation without speaking in a raised voice.

It was our first time and we really enjoyed it. Kat was an awesome server. She was detailed and checked on us regularly. The drinks were amazing and the steaks were really delicious.

We started with crab cake and meatballs. Crab cake was delicious no issue Meatballs very bland, lacking seasoning Followed by wild rice soup and the seasonal salad with beets Soup was under seasoned nothing special just broth with rice and couple pieces of mushroom Salad had nice amount of dressing but again lack of salt and pepper. I had to ask for fresh ground pepper. Filet and lamb for dinner: Filet cook exactly as requested good sauce not so great with the turnips Lamb was very tender however the dish was missing heavily seasoning Dessert: Ice cream sandwich: ice cream good, something was not right with the cookie. Under cooked and ratio of flour was off. Not good at all Cold brew would have been nice. However the ice cream has large amount of ice on it even with the coffee poured over. We had a bottle 2017 saint Emilion wine was very good. No bread was offered. When asked about it a slice of toast with butter was brought to the table. Our bill was $255 with tips. I would have expected a higher level of cuisine. The food lacked tremendous amount of seasoning. The place has great opportunity to be great but is missing on the little details. Would not recommend. I would expect the restaurant to be similar to cooper's Hawk, Le vichyssois that is to be in lakemoor illinois or DJ Bistro. The place was completely empty by 9:30 on a Saturday night.

All the food options for phenomenal. Our only recommendation is put a little bit more salt and pepper on the steak. It kinda came out bland, but it did come out perfect to how we wanted it cooked.
