Overall it was very nice for a lunch date
Food was good. Onion chicken soup was so so. It needed more flavor. Chicken sandwich was very tasty
Service was very attentive
We loved most of our lunch. They had an onoin/chicken soup of the day that was hard to eat and not very tasty at all. We don’t recomment that, but the lobster club and salmon sandwiches were wonderful. We will be back, but will skip the soup.
Fantastic local restaurant with flair and vitality!! Great food choices with an excellent array of constantly changing specials. Top notch wine selection with excellent bar staff and cocktails! The service is outstanding and friendly!
We had a wonderful meal with excellent service. An intimate experience and worth the drive.
Love this local restaurant! Wish Crystal Lake would recognize that we need more in our town. There is not another restaurant that compares to their quality of food!!
The noise level can vary however the owner has worked hard to control( installed noise barriers).
Only other minor twitch is the pour on wines. I do not drink, but those in my party all had a glass and they were a light pour! Might want to look into for the wine lovers.
My wife and I have had at least one birthday meal at 1776 since 1998. It has been our favorite restaurant since our first dining experience which, if we remember correctly, was in early 1998. It is our choice for those special dinners with friends and business associates. The new ownership has created an even finer dining experience with the addition of an enhanced selection of fine wines. This past weekend we celebrated my wife's birthday at 1776, enjoying a great meal with outstanding service. This is one of the few restaurants where you can order a charred rare steak and have it served as ordered. The rack of lamb will leave you wanting more.
Been a regular here for 20 years. Always a great place!
Great food! Great presentation!!! The service was fabulous!!!!!
Food and service from Kelly were outstanding. Room gets pretty noisy which makes conversation more difficult than it should be.
Enjoyed the service and the food at 1776 on Saturday. Busy but attentive service and an interesting, varied menu made it enjoyable. The trout was excellent and served with a couple creative flourishes and in a timely manner. Recommended.
We enjoyed a very nice dinner and excellent wine. Nice evening with an easy atmosphere suitable for talking without having to scream.
Just went here for the first time on a date night with the hubby. Great menu, with plenty of GF options, and delicious food. We were both really impressed with how 'fresh' the food tasted (not masked with a ton of creamy sauces that you might find at other restaurants), and how unique the flavors were. Will definitely go here again.
One of the original farm to table restaurants
Good food, good service
Delicious food. Tasty choices for lunch. Nice presentation. Very good service
The food and service were exceptional. There is a HUGE wine selection and many different types of food to choose from. I also appreciated the gluten free options and enjoyed my four year anniversary here.
I thought the bread pudding should have been served warm. I also felt the wine should have been served w the food, not after.
Hard to see from road at night to park going west.
Portions a little small.
Should be suggestions for wine pairings.
We enjoyed a wonderful birthday celebration dinner with delicious food and outstanding service. Had to wait a few minutes for our reservation and the bar area is a little cramped but besides that we will be back. Our server Kelly was knowledgeable and made our evening relaxing and enjoyable.
This was our first time trying 1776, and it was everything and more that we hoped for! Amazing wine list, delicious food, wonderful service, and neat atmosphere. They made us feel very special through celebrating a 30th birthday and our 6 year anniversary. Definitely a new favorite spot!
My husband and I had not been since the new ownership, not for any particular reason; it’s a little far for us so not the first place we think of. However, we went for our anniversary and could not have been more pleased! Thankfully we made a 4:30 reservation on Saturday because it filled up quick. The server Kelly was extremely nice & helpful. They treated us to a wonderful flourless chocolate cake dessert for our anniversary. Everything was really nice & the renovations make it more modern yet still a great romantic type ambience. We’ll def be back soon!
Excellent food ,extensive menu, good service and great wine list
The food was delicious and beautifully served. We will be back!
Excellent food, beautifully presented. Anything can be made gluten free.
Hostess and server perfect.
Bathrooms beautiful, clean. Unhurried, leisurely friends lunch. Flowers on table so pretty. Love it!
Can beat 1/2 price wines on Wednesday. It pairs great with the charcuterie plate. Thanks to Wendy for taking great care of us.
It has been a long time since my last visit to 1776. The occasion of this recent visit was a business dinner party. For starters, the beer and wine selections were plentiful. Enjoyed the local selection of micro brew beers very, very much! The Crab cakes and Coconut Shrimp and Indian Wild Game Sticks for starters were delicious. Main courses were also plentiful to choose from as well as plentiful at a VERY reasonable price. I chose the Planked Wild Caught Salmon with spinach risotto and a chimichurri sauce. The Salmon was baked to tender perfection and the combination of spinach risotto and Chimichurri sauce added a very pleasing sweet taste.
The serving staff were very friendly and attentive. I/we will be back again. There are way to many interesting items on the menu that require tasting! Very enjoyable experience.
Everything was superb. The only reason I rated the sound level is there were two amazingly loud guests there. I don’t blame this on the restaurant though, just the guests bad manners.
Was very good, but a large table came in and they were oblivious that there were other people in the restaurant, so that tarnished the experience a bit for us. Our server was fantastic and the food was very good, many options and because everything is made to order, it wasn't over salted
They have improved the noise level with installing sound dampeners. The food is always outstanding! Met the owner and she’s a lovely, smart entrepreneur with great ideas. Please visit and let’s keep this local gem going!
Amazing food and excellent service. Highly recommend.
Great food...However we waited for refill of our drinks at least 10-15 minutes. We also waited a long time for the waiter to ask if we wanted desert, by that time we just wanted to leave.
Perfect for any occasion.
Food is fabulous
New entry is great
Food was excellent and the service was not rushed. Wine list very impressive.
Portions are not what they used to be but food is still good, other than the obscene amount of kale in the dinner salad. We used to love coming here and we were so excited for the remodel. Unfortunately, it’s attracting a different clientele that made our experience uncomfortable and extremely difficult to hear each other. We’ve tried a handful of times but this is no longer our “go to” place. All the staff we loved has left and I couldn’t even read the menu it was so dark, for someone in my mid 30’s this shouldn’t be a problem yet!
Staff took care of you from the time you walk in.
First time dining here and it was a great experience. We will be coming back for sure.
Will spend this kind of money elsewhere. Crowed, loud and ok food.
The food was wonderful, had the salmon and the meatloaf, both were exceptional, actually, I have never had such amazing meatloaf, I would highly recommend it. The squash pie was really good, a new try for me, would definitely order again.
We hosted both sets of parents as we thought that they would enjoy the food as much as we have. They had a great time and really enjoyed the nosh (appetizers) as much as the main meals.
Fabulous food, drink, and service. The updated decor is beautiful, warm, and welcoming. Michelle is a first rate server and helped make our anniversary dinner special. Thank you!
The usual excellent experience at 1776. Without a doubt the best restaurant in town. Their lunch is just as fine as dinner.
Food was great but ordered a wine flight for an extra $16 with my meal and the pour of all 3 was less than a single glass of wine, an $8.00 value.
Came for my wife's birthday. Food was, on the whole, good. Service was slow at first, but picked up as the larger tables our waiter was attending began to leave. We got the wild game trios. They ran out of quail as an option so we were given wild boar instead. The food flavor was excellent. We enjoyed the elk the best, followed by the bison. However, the boar was VERY chewy and a bit gristly -- no need to have that again. Crab cakes were delicate and flavorful; probably the best we've ever had. Fresh sourdough buns were also terrific. Could have used more dressing and some other additions to a salad that was essentially a plate of lettuce with a few tiny shreds of carrots. Overall it was good, but we wanted it to be great. Throw in a glass of $9 house wine and 2 root beers for a total bill of $140 plus tip. Don't think it was really worth it price-wise, but we've been wanting to try the place for a few years. No rush to come back.
