Owner Rhienna, super passionate about her community. We are re-defining what fine dining looks like and building community through food. It's an exciting time for 1776 to pioneer into the future of Farm to Table offerings. Wine Spectator Award of Excellence Award 2018 winnerr.
Very consistent, delicious menu, so many varieties to choose from. The black bean puree soup is one of my favorites. So many things on the menu I want to try... keeps me coming back.
I took a friend to 1776 celebrating their birthday. I failed to let the waitress know about the birthday, and happened to see them bring out a small cake to another customer celebrating a birthday. I mentioned to my friend that I was sorry that they wouldn't get a piece of cake because I didn't advise the restaurant. Our waitress heard me say that, and after the meal she brought a piece of cake out for my friend.
That was very nice of her to do that, and was most appreciated.
This was our second time here. Everything about it is classy, decadent, and satisfying. Great drinks, delicious food, and beautiful presentation. Pricing is good for what you receive as well. Highly recommend!
Great food & service. Sarah was our server, she did a great job! Locked on service is hard to find, she nailed it!
Our favorite place to eat since we moved to Crystal Lake in 2018!!!
Food was amazing! My husaband and I love this restaurant! We have been there many times!!
My wife and I had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the space, great drink pairings, attentive service, and delicious food. We will be back. Thank you.
Had personal interactions with the owner, lovely woman. Told her that I knew her new head chef and she escorted me back to her kitchen to say hello, even on a busy night! Super friendly and accommodating staff. They remembered that my wife was vegetarian and were prepped for that when we arrived. Super high class, but not all menu options are bank breaking. Everything you get is made in house, even the deserts they bring out at the end of the meal. New favorite restaurant!
This was our first time at 1776, but it will not be our last. The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious. It is on the expensive side, but makes sense with the quality of food. They have an excellent wine list, and a great selection of beer. We look forward to coming back soon.
Took my husband for his birthday. Place is charming, staff is friendly and attentive and food was spectacular. Very pleased with portions vs cost and looking forward to going back to try another entree. However, the cheese plate is going to be a standard free m here on out!!
Beautiful presentation and great tasting crab cake nosh
My rack of lamb was a bit chewy and had to be re-fired - too rare for me, despite my request for medium to medium-well. The lamb dish was "deconstructed" - basically meaning a few bland chops with a savory wine sauce on the side and a few veggies tucked underneath the lamb chops. However, according to my partner, there was no problem with his meal. He really enjoyed his steak. I don't know....already enjoyed 1776 in years past as it was always a unique restaurant with unusual types of food - like venison, etc. Now just becoming another run of the mill farm to table restaurants that are popping up everywhere. They do offer a special chef's menu (they recently hired a new chef) which had some interesting offerings. I would definitely return and try something different...the lamb just didn't do it for me. But the service was fantastic and my server couldn't be more accommodating. We shared a nice complimentary dessert presentation for my partner's birthday.
Love that there are dedicated gf and vegan options. Great quality and value. Will definitely be returning .
This was our first time at 1776. The food was good but Nothing I would rave about like other restaurants that I’ve been to. My husband had the rack of lamb which came with mashed potatoes and veggies - I had the filet and it was paired with the same. Both the filet and lamb were flavorful. The mashed potatoes were Luke warm and nothing special in taste. Veggies were cooked well but they were just veggies - again nothing special in taste. The salad came with mixed romaine and spinach with about a 1/2 TBS of shredded carrots. I was underwhelmed by the lack of toppings (a tomato, a cucumber, a radish, something in addition to shaved carrots would have been nice. We had the coconut shrimp for an appetizer. The noodles that came with it were by far the highlight of the entire meal. The spicy peanut sauce was delicious.
Overall, The food was good but for the price I expected it to be exceptional. For me and my husband, it was “meh”.
We love their food and wine! The atmosphere is awesome and so were the staff!
Our experience was outstanding! All the food we ordered was cooked to perfection and the taste was incredible. Our server was awesome and took really good care of us! We will 100% be back!
Food was excellent!
Our second visit and repeat of the first ! Excellent service, food, ambience and decor !! Best dining experience I. The area !
The good news is the restaurant was crowded, which meaning the food is good. The bad news is the restaurant was crowded, meaning it was a little noisy and the service tended to be on the slow side. Given the circumstances, though, the waitress was very good and paid as much attention to us as she could. Overall, a very satisfactory experience.
Our service from the staff was great and our server Kelly was outstanding! She was very informative and friendly. I would go back again to try their items on the menu.
Can’t forget about great wine, whiskey, and scotch selection.
We enjoy the food, being taken care of by Michelle and being in the bar with Eric.
Food and service was outstanding. Lots of options for all food interests.
Have been to 1776 several times. ALWAYS great food and the service is top notch. The servers are always friendly and informative. The space can get a little loud if the bar area is full but otherwise it's a great space and such a lovely choice for a meal.
Service and food were great. The amount of selections were very good and I liked the fact that there were gluten free and dairy free options. I highly recommend this place.
The service and food were wonderful! One of my new favorites!
After 44 years of marriage we still manage to have a date night at least once a month, if not more. 1776 has always been a special destination. We had my 40th birthday celebration there many years ago, celebrated many anniversaries and have had many dinner with friends there. Since we moved across the border to Wisconsin it’s been a while since we’ve been there. Now under new ownership and with a major renovation we were pleased to discover it’s as wonderful as ever!
Compared to our last visit, entrees were disappointing.
The level of service and quality and uniqueness of food is unmatched in this area. As a celiac (gluten free), they do not have a separate gluten free menu but was told they can fix anything on the menu gluten free, just ask. Not being limited to a select few items is unheard of and wonderful. As a side note, I have found my two favorite vodkas while dining here - Boyd and Blair, a potato vodka, and Barr HIll, a vodka distilled from 100% honey.
This is an awesome restaurant the ambiance, service and food were all excellent!!! This will become a regular spot for me and my husband!!!
Once again the staff and food at “1776“ were excellent and surpassed all expectations. The restaurant was very busy and yet as accommodating as possible with our reservation time. Diners like to linger trying to enjoy every minute, which makes it difficult to turn tables. The food was delicious my wife had the tuna steak a specialty for the night and I had the stuffed veal chop on the bone. “1776” is a place we recommend for any occasion.
Everyone is AMAZING! We are always so happy with our experience.
Second time I’ve been to this restaurant for an occasion and it was just as excellent as the first time. Quality of food and service is great!
It was an ok dinner, but it didn’t justify the price. For $200+ For 4 in crystal lake it needs to be amazing.
Delicious local food prepared with care. Can get pricey if you like variety but the quality and preparation are top notch.
Great food and wine selection.
This was our first time back in a number of years. We did not realize 1776 was under new ownership. The food was fantastic and the service was superb. The decor is warm and inviting. We will be putting this spot back in the rotation!
Food and service was wonderful. Would definitely go again. However the wait time was long. 8pm reservation but didn’t get seated until 8:50pm. Maybe it was just because it was Valentines Day.
Upon our on time reservation arrival the hostess was preoccupied with a guest who had a reservation but the restaurant did not seem to have it. Someone else finally came to ask us for our reservation and then replied that our table was not ready but if we would wait at the bar they would call us shortly. The bar was cozy enough and we were well attended. 25 minutes later I decided to go and ask the hostess about the status of our table. She said it was ready and proceeded to seat us. Our waitress Kelly was truly accommodating, impressionable, and very engaging to ensure we understood the menu, talk about the specials, etc. To stay we had the Warm goat cheese salad and English clam chowder soup special. Both very good. Just the right amount of consistency for the soup and the salad delicious! We waited for our entrees for 35-40 minutes. Kitchen seemed backed up. The Lamb shank that I ordered was ordinary, a bit bland especially the mash potatoes and roasted vegetables (which came out cold). While everything was fresh for sure, I have to admit I was expecting a more savory culinary experience. My husband said the exact same about his Jambalaya. Overall the ambiance was inviting and the service was very friendly. But unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be rushing to come back.
We have enjoyed 1776 in the past but after our Valentine's Day experience we will never return. First of all, we were put at a long rectangular table in the middle of the aisle that didn't seem to belong. My spouse and I were seated about 4 feet apart without the option of sitting next to each other. I ordered the Beet Salad as my entree, which was on the special list, and it came with about 8 pieces of beets, the rest being just mixed greens- this for $16?? Quite pathetic. The worst part of the experience was that my spouse has an onion allergy and the waitress assured us that the dish that my spouse ordered would be made from scratch without onion. After eating this dish she quickly began to have very strong digestive distress which is what my spouse experiences after eating onion. She continued to have severe pain, digestive distress and stomach cramping even hours after we got home. The staff assured us that there was no onion in anything that was consumed. I will say that they did the right thing by paying for our dinner and our waitress was very pleasant. We won't return, however, because we can no longer trust what they say about the ingredients in their food.
as always an outstanding dining experience with guests that had never been there before. The chef does charred rare steaks as well as any we have had in the US.
