1741 Terrace - Hotel Bethlehem Ratings and Reviews
The waiter was a bit inexperienced. I asked the waiter and bus boy for olive oil, but neither of them brought it. The waiter did not offer to pour the bottle of Louis Latour we purchased. The one duck ravioli appetizer was very small and was underwhelming. My friend had the beet salad which was very good. The orrichette pasta was ok. Short ribs were a bit fatty but tasty, and the chocolate tart was not very good. I cannot remember saying that about a chocolate dessert.
Impeccable service. We made the reservation for our anniversary, without exception, every staff member wished us a Happy Anniversary and we were offered a complimentary Champagne upon being seated. Soups (Carrot & Chicken Curry) were very good to great. Entrees (Salmon & Cod) were good. Dessert (Chocolate Tart & Apple Financier) was also good. Coffee was very good.
We went to Terrace for my wife's birthday and it was an excellent experience with a great staff. Located in Hotel Bethlehem, the views of Bethlehem & large windows make for a great seating experience. The food was excellent as well as the drinks menu. Highly recommended when in town.
We recently dined here for my wife's birthday during our stay at the hotel. I have to be honest, it didn't start off great. We had a reservation, but stood in the doorway for almost 15 minutes past our scheduled time without being approached by anyone (multiple wait staff ignored us, and the host completely ignored us, then was nowhere to be found). We finally went over to one of the waiters, and got her attention (she was very friendly, and fortunately ended up being our waiter) to take our reservation and seat us. From that point on, everything was excellent. The food, drinks, ambiance - especially at Christmastime - and service was wonderful. The menu is limited, but everything on it caters to a true food and drink lover's palette. They also are very accommodating to your young one(s). I do not believe this restaurant is meant for children under 12, but they did not make our 7-year old feel that way. This was especially nice since we were traveling/staying with our daughter, but still able to enjoy a beautiful setting and meal without snooty looks, comments, or treatment (those came from the other diners, but not the restaurant staff).
My wife and I were in Bethlehem for the new year celebration. The 1741 is on the indoor terrace of the hotel. Nice room with high ceiling and tables not jammed together. When we got there we were offered a table overlooking Main Street which was decorated for the season. The horse drawn carriages that passed by added to the beautiful view out of the window. I had the filet and my wife had the sea bass. Both done as they should be.
My wife and I went on a date to the 1741 Terrace. We had a terrific meal. The food was excellent. I asked for a window seat when I made the reservation. The view of Main Street with all of the Christmas lights and the snow was just wonderful and delighted my wife. It's a beautiful restaurant, great service and delicious food... such a special place to have a date.
The table was not ready at our reservation time. The food was good but a few things were unavailable that were on the menu. Service was mediocre. One person got coffe and dessert. The other coffee came 5 minutes later and we saw the waiter standing there talking to another waiter with the coffee in his hand. When everyone was just about finished and the Sambuca still hadn’t come we called the waiter. He said “I know it’s not here. The bar will let me know when it is ready.” Really? They never offered to put the bill on our room even though we were staying at the hotel.
On the positive side the room is beautiful and the view is lovely. The food is good.
The Terrace was beautiful - decorated in Christmas finery. The food selection was just enough. The food was prepared timely, the presentation was appealing, and food was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We also enjoyed just being in The Hotel Bethlehem. It is a wonderfully festive place to be at Christmas time.
We surprised my mom with dinner for Christmas. She was beyond excited and pleased with the food and service. We ordered the cheese platter which was a great way to start. I had the chicken, my mom had the lobster ravioli, and my husband had steak - Of course, we all tried each others! Everything was delicious, our server was great, the wine was wonderful. It was truly a memorable night and would consider making it a yearly tradition.
Our stay at the Hotel Bethlehem was an unforgettable experience for the both of us as the Christmas get-a-way was a gift from our Daughters and my Sister. The dinner at the " 1741 "
magnificent. The food excellent and the evening unforgettable. Max, our Server, a fine young man with a terrific personality, articulate, great smile, made our experience even better.
Thank your entire staff for the excellent stay, to coin a business phrase, I subscribed to for many years, " In Search Of Excellence " a business Goal, certainly is The Bethlehem Hotel's
daily goal with all their guests.
This is not worth the money. Food was very average and very expensive. Entree came with no vegetable:for that you had to pay $20 more. The restaurant is inside a hotel. The hotel would not let us sit in the lobby before our after the meal. When I made the reservation , it was for a prie fixe meal with a flight of wine. When I got there, I was told it was not available
Going to this restaurant the week before Christmas is wonderful but you have to be able to deal with crowds if you can’t don’t choose this time of year to go. If you can, it’s a fun day culminating in a great dinner! Make your reservations months in advance and don’t expect a quick service meal! Relax and enjoy! Beautiful and good menu!
The service was impeccable and the food was very good. We try to make a date every December for a girls' night out because we love the Christmas ambiance. The view from a window table is spectacular. We also love the gift shop that is filled with original and unique items. Penn State creamery ice cream is also a plus.
Have had lunch at the bar dining which was great. The terrace on the 10th of December was fair at best. Service was slow and food so so especially for the price. Hate to think the Christmas rush was part of problem. Food should be consistent. Love the hotel, probably will try again.
