We had a delicious romantic dinner for my girlfriend’s birthday at the 1741. Everything about it was fantastic! Our server Sarah was friendly and very attentive and Courtney who assisted her was so helpful and friendly too. The scenery was beautiful, the food delicious, and overall it was a great experience.
Great, maybe the best, place for dinner in or near Bethlehem, PA. Sara, our server, was a professional, efficient, and extremely personable. The ambiance was truly special as was the food. Highly recommended.
Welcomed, organized. Sarah was very engaged, astute and responsive. All were on the top of their game.
We were celebrating a co-workers retirement with a small group of close six friends. We had a great table next to the huge windows looking out on old downtown Bethlehem. Wait staff was prompt and service was great. App and main courses were tasty and well prepared. The ambience of the old hotel and the marble stairways are very nostalgic and quaint. Overall good time and reasonable price!
We were celebrating a son and daughter in law’s 20th wedding anniversary. From the surprise complimentary champagne toast to a special order of Penn State Creamery ice cream delivered from across the street, service was outstanding. Food was delicious, view of downtown Bethlehem from our table was spectacular. Definitely a repeater!!!
Very nice place and i really like the food a lot. You feel like you went back in time to 1920.. also the drink it's a top class
! Dinner was lovely!! Waiting staff friendly and professional The Dining Room is gorgeous!! I would highly recommend for any occasion!!! 5*s all the way!!!!
Special occasion, lovely room and view.great food presentation and service.
Mistakes on order
Bus boy spilled water all over my son
I had 2 lambchops and wife had filet mignon. both were delicious and cooked perfectly. rolls were great-crunchy and vey good just like good dinner rolls should be. this meal was to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary and it was perfect for the occasion. our server-bob sweeny was courteous and helpful and even took our pictures at our request. Bob was the perfect server . we really enjoyed ourselves at the hotel Bethlehem-1741 dining room and we thank them for a perfect dining experience.
I had business associates in for some meetings and on a rainy night in Bethlehem we wanted something nice but didn't want to go far. The 1741 Terrace was a great choice as they were staying at the hotel. The service was great, they didn't have the wine we wanted in stock but had a better selection for the same price. Good move.
The dinners were very good - my lamb chops were on the rare side as I ordered them medium rare - but still good. Overall a great experience and will return.
The service was pretty bad, but the food and atmosphere were great. They need to be more adequately staffed and communicate better when things are going to be slow. There were a lot of people walking around and doing water refills and bread service but only a couple seemed to be waiting on the tables otherwise. It took a very long time to be greeted and to order food. This is all understandable if you stop by the table and explain and get a round of drinks and bread out while people wait. As the evening wore on, the service became more attentive and orders came faster. If it weren’t a special occasion, we would have left before we were greeted though.
The waitress was very nice. We had an 8:00 concert and thought we had plenty of time having arrived at 6:25, but having waited an hour we had to rush to eat. Scallops and salmon were both very good.
Background piano was great dinner music; but the fellow at the next table proposing to the girl there drew a round of applause from everyone, a fitting event for such an occasion.
It was a beautiful dining room, filled with flowers & outstanding service & delicious food. I was celebrating my retirement & the desert was taken off the bill. Highly recommend.
I wasn't impressed. Very nice atmosphere, but the food wasn't great. The menu was very limited, my mashed potatoes were cold, and my steak (which I asked medium-rare) was more like medium-well.
Dessert was good though, and service was good as well.
I was very disappointed in the level of service. I had to go to the hostess to get my drink order correct after 2 tries with the waitress. For my second drink order... it basically came when I was already finished with my dinner, although I had made the drink order well in advance. When my dinner was served... did not get a knife for my entrée, as it was removed with my appetizer.
Finally, had the interesting experience of one of your servers who was doing bread and water, telling us that our waitress needed to learn principle of serving customers.
Food was fine.. but the frustration of the serving experience ruined the dinner. We were visiting our son at college to take him out to dinner, and unfortunately the serving issues impacted that experience for us.
Went to 1741 terrace this evening for my mil’s birthday. Our serve Bob was an all star. He truly knew the menu inside and out and did an amazing job at assisting us to choose what we would like. Total party of four. Ordered two New York strip steaks, one lamb chop, one scallop. Appetizers of soup for some and cheese for others. Dessert for three. They even added a candle to my mil’s dessert. Attentive staff. Some of the food lacked salt, but over all was a delicious meal. The noise level was rather high for such a venue due to a wedding party occurring right outside the restaurant doors in the lobby of the hotel.
The hotel and staff are so kind and the service was wonerfull! Dinner was perfectly prepared from appetizer to dessert.
Pros: superb service and good choices on menu
The highlight is the history and ambiance.
Only con; price fir parking the car
My husband had the swordfish. It was excellent. We shared the oysters. They were clean and tasty.
I had the lamb chops. The seasoning was good, but the chops were full of fat and cartilage. I ordered them as an appetizer. So, I would only recommend them if they are made of leaner meat. The wine was very good as well.
The food was impeccable and the service even topped it! Best dining experience in a very long time.
Excellent service. Knowledgeable & friendly staff. Celia Friendly. Excellent food and drinks. My new favorite!
Beautiful room with a table that overlooked the quaint street. The service could not have been better and the food from appetizer to entree was superb.
Beautiful historic Hotel with a fabulous dining experience.
Simply amazing. This was our fifth time dining at the Terrace. We love the food and the atmosphere! The server was so sweet and very attentive. A server we had from the prior year came over to greet us, even though she was our server. The place is great!
Our server Donna was absolutely above accommodating and amazing. She was so patient with us even though we took forever to order and stayed later than everyone else. We were a group of friends who have not seen each other in a bit. The drinks were perfect! The food was superb and the ambiance was beautiful. Definitely going back.
Second year we have taken our College Student for his Bday Dinner. It’s a beautiful room and the food and service are both outstanding.Donna took care of use a few years back on another occasion and remembered us this last visit. We love all the wait staff. They are very friendly and attentive.
What a delightful evening with friends. Excellent service. I had duck foie gras followed by a main course of filet mignon. Both were nicely prepared and delicious. My husband had scallops as a main course which he said were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was very helpful and knew his wines.
Bob our waiter to great care to make our evening special. The food and the table near the window with the view of the town were outstanding. The Hotel is a great place for a special occasion or just a special night.
A very beautiful setting, very romantic! The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. Perfect for a date night.
The Terrace is a beautiful room with great view of historic Bethlehem. Excellent spot. Service was incredible (Sarah) and a very knowledgeable staff. The wine selection is admirable. I ordered the scallops which were a bit underwhelming with a soft searing and a bit mushy as they were seemingly under a lamp too long or undercooked in too much oil? Plating was a little uninspired, too. My date had the Orecchiette pasta and that was quite tasty. Prices were a tad high for the outcome of the food, in my opinion.
My wife and I arrived a little early and the hostess was happy to seat us. The service and attention by all was great. We placed our order, received our drinks and shortly received our salads. We had a number of dishes that came to our table but none that we had ordered. There was no explanation by the server or management. We finally gave up and left. Happy Valentine’s Day !
Food was great! Price was a little high but considering the area it was worth it. Only complaint was that we were seated right next to the only wall there when there was only three othe couples seated and could not see out the windows.
Wow! This is truly a swanky place from the valet to the waiter. A night of class with outstanding food.
The service was outstanding and the food was great we would definitely recommend this place to anybody that would enjoy something different from the everyday restaurant
Awesome deal for restaurant week. Service started off great but then our waitress kinda disappeared. Still a great experience in a beautiful setting.
Dinner was very memorable. Beautiful place. But the seafood chowder was too peppery. I wasn't expecting that. You should remark that on menu. As many could be allergic to pepper. The normal chowders are usually creamy with garlic. It wasn't very good. I got the salmon and that was very salty. Again very unexpected. My companions NY strip was prepared very well.
