Jason our waiter was top notch, as was the food, drinks and ambiance!
Seated us right away even though we were early, super friendly staff, nicely crafted cocktails, the porterhouse was cut 2 inches thick and cooked to perfection!
Great from start to finish!
Had a nice meal with colleagues and would dine there again if in the area.
We made a New Year’s eve dinner reservation 31 Dec 2019, we ordered two appetizers. My wife ordered lobster bisque soup and I ordered calamari. The appetizers were served less than ten minutes later with the soup being room temperature and the calamari was stale and cold. My wife was hesitant to eat it and we politely asked our server to heat up her soup. He apologized for that matter. The calamari was very stale but we were starving. I then ordered a ribeye which I find it very low quality and rubbery in a lukewarm temperature. My wife ordered salmon which she did not finish her dinner for it was cold and asked for a food box so we could take it to our hotel. After the food were boxed, we asked our server for a bag so we could carry it out. We overheard our server and the manager with his loud voice saying they don’t have food bag. Our server politely told us that they don’t have any bags to carry our food. We just left our boxes food on the table. My wife got stomach ache the whole night after dinner and we decided to stay in our hotel room versus enjoying the San Antonio fireworks that midnight.
I am not in a business of sharing a bad experience but for a restaurant that charges a dinner steak of a lots of $$$ should have at least have a higher standards in customer service, and high quality of food. I don’t want to write any further negative comments but for us... it was a horrible dinner experience and for the price point we paid, we could have a better dining experience with delicious food from the food vendors down the street during the New Year’s Eve celebration/ festivities and save money. We are very disappointed.
Food was just okay, but not as good as other steakhouse
Our second time dining with you. It was our anniversary as was last year. Last year all was very good. This year not so. Calamari appetizer was not hot or crispy. Very bland. Restaurant was empty so ambience was a little off. Our waiter was excellent. The lamb was not as tender and temperature was too cool. Sides were very good and dessert choices very limited but Crème brûlée tasted ok.
We came to 1718 to celebrate our anniversary and let me tell you, it was way different than one year ago. We were greeted promptly at the bar but once seated, we waited several minutes to meet our server. Gone are the coat and ties and have been replaced by just dress shirts and ties. The quality of food and service seemed to go with the dress coats as well as the flaming cheesecake. We were disappointed by the new, lowered, standard 1718 has seemed to have taken on and are hesitant to schedule another visit. Don’t get me wrong, it is still very good. However, we had to ask if there were any specials. The scallops were overcooked and small. It just wasn’t amazing. It was good.
This restaurant was fabulous! I had no idea where to have a family celebration for the holiday and picked this restaurant without any recommendation. It was in an old historic building on the third floor and the view to the carriages on the street and the alamo were awesome! The service and food was wonderful.
Location, food quality and ambiance made this a memorable Christmas night!
If you want steak, come here! The views of the Alamo from three stories high are memorable, the food delicious with sides large enough to share, and the building authentic. This is truly a San Antonio experience.
Great food view service.
This staff here seriously need trained- they should go work at Mortons or Palm and then come back and make this place great. It could be great, but sadly, it is not. There is loud piano music blaring in your face the whole time you are there. The food could be great, but again, sadly it is not. Someone in the back needs to be trained properly. It is about 60%, but they are charging 100%, because of the location. It is a strange place. If you are used to Mortons, Palm, Flemings, you will be disappointed. Do not disregard the negative reviews located here.
We have come here for Three years and every year I feel like the place has deteriorated. I probably will not go back next year.
Great view; perhaps the most overpriced restaurant I have ever eaten in and I have eaten in some expensive restaurants around the world.
Third visit form dinner and this time I was a little disappointed in the food. We both ordered salad that was very good, but it was so big, neither of us could finish it. Recommend servers let customers know that salad is very big or serve smaller less expensive salads.
We then ordered a ribeye and salmon. Quality was just ok. We ordered that same entrees on our last visit and the quality was perfect. My steak was ordered Medium Well, but was more Well and a little dry. My dinner guest said the salmon was "OK".
We really enjoy dining here. This was our third visit. Just not as memorable this time as it was on previous visits.
We had another delicious meal at 1718 at the Alamo. I had the Strip and my wife and sons had filets that were cooked to perfection. The sides were really good. We topped the meal off with the cheesecake desert. We are from back East and it may be the best we have had. This is our favorite steak house in the San Antonio area. In fact, we think it rivals Papa Bros in Houston as our overall favorite. If you are looking for a premier dining experience, please do not overlook 1718.
Good food and fabulous view but a little steep in price.
This place is a little tough to find but it is worth it. It is located directly across from the Alamo. The wine list is good but a tad pricey at 2.5-3X retail. The food was excellent and so was the service. The only champagne snivel I have is they don't have a dessert menu and their selection of dessert wines is limited.
It was okay, but not worth the money for the quality of food we got.
Very kind and fantastic tasting
La atención excelente, y la comida muy rica, el ambiente es muy tranquilo, todo muy bien, muy recomendable.
Overpriced. Food good but not memorable. Desert way below average. View of Alamo memorable.
We had a great meal! We were treated wonderful as soon as we entered the restaurant and were seated at a table overlooking the Alamo. Would definitely come back.
Excellent food, excellent service. Across from Alamo, awesome view. Filet was outstanding. Would definitely recommend. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. And actually, our bill was inflated due to our own choices of cocktails (quantity :-)
Excellent food and service. Love coming here.
The view from the 3rd floor was spectacular. The food was meh at best. The meal was a waste of money and will never go back.
The Caesar salad dressing was too heavy on the anchovy paste, too harsh to finish eating it. Their $10 “macaroni & cheese” was cold, bland and undercooked ziti noodles sprinkled with cheeses. Sent it back once for being cold and they brought one “fresh from the oven” that was also cold to the touch. Gave up after 2 bites and just left it for the waiter to pick up. The scalloped potatoes were more edible than the Mac & cheese but nothing to brag about and left over 2/3s of the dish untouched. Waiter didn’t even blink at all the uneaten food he was having to pick up. A Regular customer experience for him? Possibly.
The Rolls with garlic butter was the best thing about the meal. The ribeye steak’s flavor definitely was not worth the price. Next time, Ruth’s Chris.
Food was AMAZING! Our waiter was fabulous! The cheesecake is to die for!
The service was amazing
Wonderful food and service.
As always, food and staff were excellent!
This place was amazing and the flaming dessert was great. My kids enjoyed the blue fire and our waiter was amazing.
Steaks were amazing, but that flaming cheesecake was to die for! 🤗
Nothing but great things to say about this restaurant! I had a party of 15 for a work event. The service was impeccable! The drinks and food were excellent! It overlooks the Alamo. Perfect restaurant to host events!
A long time friend and colleague were attending a conference. We wanted to have dinner and catch up. This was perfect. We overlooked The Alamo! The service was excellent and the steak and appetizer were magnificent!!!
Excellent service and the food was outstanding! Dined there for my 2 year anniversary, will be going back!
Amazing !!!! Great service and great food
Every steak, but one was undercooked- almost raw.
Very cool place had a great table overlooking the alamo. Food was sub par desert(chocolate cake was dry n horrible. Waiter took care of it for us. Chicken was raw.
