We went for a special Sunday brunch for a birthday. The service was ridiculously slow; it took over 45 minutes for food to arrive, and our coffee/drinks were not refilled until we asked after the food was served. Our server gave the impression we were inconveniencing her. We've eaten here before and had great service/food. I'll give them a second chance.

Great place to go for special occasions. We love coming here for birthdays, anniversaries and Valentines day. We have been coming here for years. Just a special place. Staff was very nice to my elderly dad in helping him to his seat.

An absolutely wonderful evening! It was our anniversary dinner and I noted such when making our reservations. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with “happy anniversary” by the greeter. Once we were seated, two complimentary glasses of champagne arrived. It made for a perfect evening! We are sure to return!

This is my third visit in two months. It’s now our favorite new go to for a reasonable, tasty, classy yet approachable
place to bring visiting friends and family.

Food is great. Good value. Cocktails are different and not too expensive with an amazing view. Just go.

We had a most memorable anniversary dinner thanks to the staff at 1637 at York Harbor Inn. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with anniversary wishes and throughout the evening there were special touches and wishes. The table setting offered a water view, another plus. The food was delicious, New England style, and our server was attentive at just the right time. This is a special anniversary to celebrate and we did thanks to YHI.

The atmosphere at this restaurant was quite lovely. Beautiful spot overlooking the water. The food was of good quality (had to send back for reheat as it wasn't hot). Food returned quickly and was hotter. The service was excellent!
I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. We sat in the main dining room but visited the bar in the lower level which looked like a fun place to have a drink and/or dine.

Really enjoyed our meal. Food was great but had the Seafood “Pie” which is really a seafood casserole (no crust or stuffing or lobster sauce as described). However, the waiter apologized and maitre de did as well turning around another meal quickly leaving the side dishes while two of us waited for a new meal. Often it’s how you handle challenges that defines a place, and they handled it wonderfully. Just change the name of the dish or remove it as the food is great...it just needs to be rightfully represented on the menu.

We found the 1637 to be a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere with a variety of menu options. The beet salad and crab cakes were exceptionally good and the portion just right for me. My mother did not care for the somewhat gloppy swiss cheese on her French Onion soup, but liked the soup. She enjoyed her pasta shells and the thick marinara sauce. The two desserts we tried were portioned moderately and adorned with fresh whipped cream.

Dinner was superb. Dining room comfortable with a window view. Bar afterward, for a nightcap and Beth the bartender was friendly and obviously loves her job.

Would suggest this dining experience to everyone. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent Sunday Brunch. We went there for the excellent view of the boiling waves sea after a storm. We were gratified to find out that since we had been there last (3-5 years ago) the view is even better and the food and interior are all even better than the wonderful "neighborhood gem" we remembered. This is one heck of a great value, with an extraordinary sea view and warm, wood-paneled interior.

I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant, very New England in decor. Chock full of lobster and scallops, my meal was excellent. Though our waitress was very friendly, I believe she was stressed because every table was full, and I think there was a shortage of staff. My husband had ordered asparagus. A substitution of egg plant was made, but the waitress was unable to come back to our table when we were eating for him to ask about the switch. We did not know if it was unavoidable or if a mistake had been made. I would recommend this place to anyone travelling in the York area.

This was our first time there for a quick getaway at the York Harbor Inn and we made reservations at this restaurant because it was part of the inn and we didn’t have to leave to have a meal. The atmosphere was nice, the food was delicious and the service was great ! The price of the food on the menu was not too expensive. We had appetizers, drinks and our meal for under hundred dollars . I will definitely go back again when I’m up in that area !

The food was fresh and flavorful and left new wanting more. Had the French onion soup and scallop appetizer special, the filet with a leaning tower of seafood on top, and chicken Madeira special. Decadent gingerbread pudding with caramel drizzle... yum

We chose this restaurant based on a prior New Year's Eve spent in their lovely dining room. Unknown to me, this year was a priced fixed menu that cost us $250 for 2. What was most disturbing was that we were seated n an overflow room, which was miserably quiet..not what we had in mind for a New Year's Eve dinner. We were forced to listen to the dreadful conversation of the party of six next to us. We never got our intermezzo course, nor dessert. We were told to go upstairs for dessert but all the tables were reserved and no dessert was in sight. A very very disappointing experience.

Food was really good. I wouldn't say it was great. Appetizers were better than the main course. Asparagus could have been cooked a little more. Scallops were over cooked. Flourless chocolate cake wasn't that great. Drinks were great. Appetizers were really good. We sort of wishes we just stuck with the appetizers instead of ordering apps and entrees. Service was very good. Inn and restaurant were super cute. If we went back, we would just get appetizers and drinks and probably sit at the bar.

We absolutely loved our entire dining experience at 1637 at York Harbor Inn! We arrived a bit early for our reservation, yet were pleasantly welcomed and went downstairs to the bar and enjoyed a drink in the stylish ship environment. When seated upstairs for dinner, we loved all items we chose to share: lobster & corn chowder, seared tuna, strawberry spinach salad, and the osso buco!!! And service was outstanding!

A mixed bag. My wife started with a beet salad that was extraordinary and I had a seafood chowder that was loaded with seafood. But the entrees...my wife ordered Beef Brochettes done medium and received rare beef, I ordered Seafood Ravioli that came with overcooked shrimp.

View and ambience alone are worth the visit. Prices on the higher side of average, but not expensive. Quality of foid is good, but some if the dishes seemed to be prenafe and warmed up, drying out the food. This was noticed on the appetizers and side dishes, not the main courses.
I had the sea food in a broth over pasta. Was wonderful, but portion was small. Service was great at desk but average at table. Could use more attention to changing silverware and plates with appetizer and main courses.
I loved the place and will likely return.
