14K Restaurant & Lounge - The Hamilton DC Ratings and Reviews
This one surprised me. We were looking for a cheaper restaurant in the DC area and the menu looked good. Being in a hotel, we had our doubts but decided to try it. I had the lamb and my wife had the veal. They were outstanding. Wine list also was inexpensive and limited but was able to fine a decent wine on there. I would definitely go back on my next visit to DC.
I was highly disappointed that due to not being aware that your restaurant did not participate the full week of restaurant week as most restaurants, my party of four decided not to leave due to the lack of accommodations.
We came here during Restaurant Week (summer) for lunch. The menu options were good, especially dessert (my skillet cookie & ice cream was so delicious and my judge's pistachio cheesecake was yummy!). We both cleaned our plates and the service was excellent. Our food came out hot and quick - perfect for a lunch service!
We came here after a Nationals baseball game on the 4th of July. It wasn't crowded - in fact, it was pretty empty because we were there at an odd time of day (3:30 pm) but the waiter was very accommodating, told us what was good on the menu and what wasn't, and our group of five was very pleased with the choices we made and his suggestions. The atmosphere is very pretty and it has a lovely patio - we would have sat out there if we hadn't been in the heat at the baseball game. A very nice restaurant.
The food was awesome and the wine list even better. The service was superb and we will definitely return! We received personalized service and we were made to feel very special on our 35th Wedding Anniversary. The Manager visited our table and our server was awesome. My husband is still raving about the rack of lamb. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Thank you Chef Battle for the memorable evening!
Went for Mothers Day Brunch. The food was good, but it seemed like this was the first time they ever did an event like this. It was a buffet which was not advertised and the setup was horrible. Don't get me wrong, I would probably eat here again, just not for an occasion like this.
We were there for Easter Sunday brunch because we stayed at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza and knew we'd be tired from walking all over the city for several days prior. First, no complaints on the food; it was tasty and abundant, if pricey, but that's to be expected. Our server was attentive and friendly.
I made a reservation for brunch for the one time offered on Open Table: 10:45. Saturday evening a man called to confirm and said Brunch started at 11, but we'd be seated at 10:45 and we could go through the line at 11. Fine. Sunday morning at 7:41 a.m.(!!) a woman called (we were sound asleep after an exhausting Saturday with much walking) to confirm we wanted brunch, not breakfast. Brunch. OK. We arrived at 10:50 and were told they were not ready, come back at 11. Came back a few minutes after 11, still not ready. Finally seated a few minutes later. Buffet looked great, but there were NO plates. Plates finally appeared. Food, as noted, was very good. Nice selection. Dessert was on the opposite end of the large room from the buffet. Again, NO plates, and no plates appeared while we were there. Plates were on the other end in buffet area. So: Food and table service good, planning and general service/preparedness disappointing, to say the least. And that early-morning phone call did not win them any points.
Comfortable upscale ambience. Friendly and accommodating staff. Food was good. But the bar upcharges were a bit ridiculous. $4 upcharge for Happy Hour Mixers and $2 upcharge for "rocks." I could maybe understand if it was special ice that should have been used to make a classic cocktail, but it was regular ice.
I like everything about the restaurant except - sometimes the noise is too much. Not this past time. This time I have one suggestion. I sat on the white leather bench by the window. The cushion was so squashed down on one side that I kept sliding to the left.
Group of six of us went to try their new Brunch menu last Sunday and we were pleased once the meal was concluded but there were issues. First we called the resteraunt the night before with questions and couldn't understand anything the guy on the phone was saying (very bad English). We show up to the restaurant and were seated outside which had a nice vibe. Our server however ruined that vibe immediately. Her English was pretty bad as well and we had problems communicating with her and she seemed really flustered. We sat down at 1215 and it was 1pm before we even got our first round of drinks. She was so slow that 3 groups of people walked out. Once we got her to just bring everybody the same drink and to just go down the list to bring them out every ten minutes things started to go much better. Bread had to be brought out by another waiter which was still an hour after we sat down. Then the food came, my entire group loved everything we ordered. We had the red velvet chicken and waffles, all American biscuit, blue crab bisque, fried shrimp and grits....I can't overstate how good the food was. We definitely will be back because all of the drinks for the bottomless were good and the food was excellent but there is no way we have the same lady wait on us.
I enjoyed the food and environment. However, the employees seemed confused and unprepared. The manager could not find my reservation but I clearly had a transaction receipt! There was multiple times that I was literally searching for my waiter and could not find him! I wouldn't go back for the food because the service was so bad.
